Our Friday dinner group tried Gusto Osteria at Tanque Verde/ Sabino Canyon this past week. They have a smallish location in the back of the Safeway plaza with a good size outdoor patio. We had a reservation for 8 people and were seated right away....The staff and guests were required to wear masks and seating was at every other table. Service was very slow and not friendly during the meal - drink refills and plate clearing was excellent by the servers assistant. The menu is on the small side and the dishes were averaged priced. I had the Fettuccine Alfredo - average flavor (I’ve had better here in Tucson). I like to try new locations, which this was for us, but I would only give this 3 out of 5 for service, food, and pricing.More

Four of went Saturday night and I was pleasantly surprised at the end of the meal by a fabulous piece of homemade cake with a candle on it. Dinner was delicious. Three of us had their house special, braciola and one had halibut. All were...amazing. The napa salad appetizer was a generous portion of fresh greens and pecans, blue cheese and asparagus. Reasonable price with a nice wine bottle selection. Can't wait to go back.More

Gusto!Osteria is a fabulous Italian restaurant, a little hard to find but definitely worth the effort. Besides the menu items such as Eggplant Parm, they made two selections for us that were NOT on the menu, and everything was fabulous! They also made us a...very nice red Sangria. The bread upfront was also really good, with a seasoned olive oil at the table. We didn't try dessert - too stuffed! - but we'll certainly be back!More

We have now gone twice. Both times the food is excellent. Service is very good. A lot of staff and you sometimes feel like they are watching you to finish just to clean up the table. They do not rush you. We have enjoyed our...service and food. Will go back again and again. Great Job!!More

At first glance you might decide to pass on Gusto Osteria, hidden in a strip mall on Tanque Verde Road, but if you crave awesome Italian food and good service, step inside. My wife and I felt welcome the moment a waiter opened the door...for us and seated us. We would have extraordinary service during our entire time at the restaurant. Elaine was extremely satisfied with her roasted beet salad and my farfalie Bolognese was outstanding. Great service and great food! Don't miss this hidden treasure.More

Our visit in Tucson was marred by illness, so, having little energy for parks, we tried to compensate with food. Gusto Osteria was some consolation. I ordered farfalle primavera while mom had the chicken parmesan. We also had ice cream and coffee. The food was...good, though not great. There was hardly anyone else there for lunch, sadly. I'd be willing to try this restaurant again.More

Penne with sausage was well prepared with a nice sauce and the accompanying Caesar salad was fresh and tasty. The pizza was loaded with cheese but the sauce was a little sharp and too tomatoey. Service was efficient

Coming from the East Coast, we have visited numerous Italian restaurants many times, so we know good Italian food. Maybe the West does not have the same selection, because Gusto Osteria has only fair Italian food. Meats were thin and tough. Pasta was ok, but...the marinara sauce was out of a jar. Coffee was disappointing, did not taste like Italian coffee. Pizza my granddaughter was disappointing. And the bill was overpriced for the quality of food. The wait staff was friendly but made mistakes in the order. No wonder the restaurant was empty that evening. This place would not survive back East.More

We were here on a Thursday nite, and it was not particularly busy, but the service was slow. That being said, the food was good. My wife had the Cannelloni, which was excellent, and I had the Linguini, which was a little bland and overcooked,...but acceptable. Price was average, and happy hour menu was minimal.More

I'm almost afraid to mention this place. Part of its charm is that it isn't well known and not very crowded. Speaking of charm, it has absolutely none. There are assorted paintings of no particular note on the walls. Clearly, not much attention was paid...to decor/ambiance. This is not a place for a romantic evening. But, this is a place for serious eating. With dinner comes a small basket of bread. Salads and soups are extra. I really like their thin pork cutlets which are not greasy. How is that possible? It comes with buttered rice mixed with veggies, exactly like Vivache's pasta and veggies. (Surprise, surprise...the recipes are from the Scordato family.) My husband and I like their pasta and homemade sausage. There is a full bar. The staff is very friendly and the prices aren't bad. I did think a salad I had for lunch was a bit steep, but the mushroom soup I ordered with it was worth every cent. So, as your Italian mother might have said "try it, you'll like it".More

Healthy salad with some protein would be my choice, but I do not recall what they had on their menu. I liked the salad I got there.
