Second time here. Ambiance is still unbeatable, service still top notch professional. The menu spread was a little short and nothing stuck out as super adventurous, but it is a winter menu, so not a huge surprise. Bread appetizer delicious. Pork chop well seasoned and...a delicious juicy bite with the fruit. Ravioli was creamy and perfectly seasoned. Drink menu really good as well. Still easily a 5/5 dining experience, take someone here you want to impress or treat to a "fancy" dinner, or to just indulge. Also not sure where the negative reviews come from; the menu could be a little more inspired, but the food/service/ambiance is pretty unmatched for the area.More

The ambiance was very nice. The bar was lovely. The staff were very hospitable. One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in Tucson.

The revamp of this place is terrible—what happened???? We won’t come back and felt terrible for spending money here—we felt ripped off. The service is overwhelmed and mechanical (does anyone train these servers/bussers), the cocktails are lackluster. The owners must really be tight on not...pouring any booze. The food….how many ways to over cook your meal and leave it tasteless. We recommend that you do not eat here for dinner. It is terrible—all around.More

Not sure what the recent negative reviews are about, but we had the usual excellent experience with great craft cocktails, fine gourmet food (with 8 entree choices the night we went, other recent reviews to the contrary), good, friendly and efficient service, and the usual...warm atmosphere. The best restaurant in Tucson as far as we're concerned.More

Noisy room. Weird fawning service. Off balance flavors and misleading menu descriptions. Supposedly the work of 4 chefs. You would think there might be one decent cook amongst them. One of thee worst dinners we have ever had. Expensive and inedible. And we are in...the business so we hate to criticize but this review is a public service.More

On our vacation to Tucson we were blown away with the food and flavor. Maynard’s was a bit disappointing. First off, their info available online was a bit confusing so as out of towners it almost deterred us. The only way we knew they were...open (after a temporary summer refresh) was through their facebook page. On their website — I was unable to ever get the menu to load in its entirety. The menu is on their FB page, but guess what — it’s not even what was given to us at the restaurant. We wanted to try their goat cheese cheesecake (advertised) but in the restaurant it wasn’t on the menu. My husband ordered their ribeye steak. On the menu it reads “ribeye steak” when it was served it was a capless ribeye. Being from Texas — that’s just not okay. That should be detailed as serving a chuck eye steak is not the same thing at all. The pasta dish I ordered also did not come to the table as described on the menu. The highlight of the evening was their focaccia bread appetizer— it’s amazingly good! Service was also great; our waiter was professional, welcoming, and fantastic.More

This restaurant has gone from the pinnacle of fine cuisine with their chef last year to the pits of bad cooking with the current kitchen staff. A very limited menu and definitely one of the worst meals ever at a "fine" restaurant.

This place used to be amazing, now it's easily one of the worst restaurant in Tucson. Other than the Focaccia the rest of our food was terrible. Very inconsistent seasoning, poor knife skills and food that lacks passion. We found a red hair in our...mussels, I would assume from chef we saw with the big beard. Maybe he should wear a net on his beard??? Either way the group of us won't be back. Go to Bata if you're looking for good food downtown.More

Service was a bit pretentious that seemed a bit slow rather than attentive — seemed a bit disorganized. Menu is very limited featuring locally grown/sourced items but lacking in what is provided; e.g., a chicken entree is nothing more than chicken in gravy with a...very small amount of mashed potato and no vegetable. Wine list is eclectic but very small; e.g., just a few CA and French Chardonnay bottles to choose from. Atmosphere is very noisy, even with a third of the tables empty. Food prepared well but really nothing extraordinary about it.More

First of all it is a lovely room. Maynards is in the Tucson train station, and the design of the dining room is in the spirit of an era of gracious western dining. Comfortably elegant and the ambiance of the odd train passing is just...a bonus. The food carries the day. While the menu sounds fancy, when you get down to it the food is artfully done by a talented kitchen. But not so much that you have to hunt it down on the plate. I had the coulotte steak and it was done perfectly and muey bueno! My partner had the chicken and was equally as happy. Deviled eggs to start were lovely, tasty and beyond what I expected which was church lady fare. They had me at Huckleberry ice cream with a profiterole. Great cocktails, which for me a s simple vodka martini burnt and dry that was done to perfection. Shout out to John, our waiter who was excellent. He was knowledgeable about the menu and we never felt rushed and he had a nice sense of humour. We make a point of dining at Maynards whenever we are in town and it always exceeds expectations. When you are done cross the road to the Hotel Congress and catch something on the outdoor venue or their well appointed jazz room, The Century Room. We'll be back.More

We ate outside on the patio by the train tracks. It was interesting, if intermittently noisy, watching the trains go by. The menu is small, but creative, with a good number of gluten-free options. The tempura green bean appetizer was our favorite, although everything was...interesting and delicious. Our server John was personable, professional, and prompt. An excellent experience.More

Beet salad was OK, but very little beet. I ordered NY steak and my wife ordered salmon. Both were lukewarm and my wife's salmon probably undercooked. She abounded it less than half way through. We had asked for a quieter 4-place table, but were told...couples couldn't be seated at these tables and they were all booked. Two minutes later a couple was seated at a 4-place table and there were several empty when we left. We will not be coming back.More

This is DEFINITELY my go-to spot in Tucson. I love everything about this place. I've been seated in the restaurant proper, at the bar, and on the patio - all perfect. The service is always friendly, with knowledgeable and accommodating staff. It's the food that...I love. Monthly changing, imaginative, locally-sourced menu. I've never had a mediocre dish. Everything always tastes so wonderful, and the chef plays with textures and flavours that are genius.More
