Limited menu with weird combinations and terrible descriptions. Wait staff not very attentive and couldnt describe dishes. Friends we were with have eaten here several times and said its normally very good. I saw limited menu on line but also saw that many people talked...about specials - well they had NO specials. I am a fairly experienced cook and thought the menu descriptions were horrid - most people including me wouldnt know half the ingredients they cited and the descriptions were not even accurate. For example the barramundi (which on the published menu says Trout!) is described as this: idaho trout*, verjus, charred tomato, cucumber, nopal - so it sounds mexican with nopal (which most people wouldnt know is cactus) but the waiter says "its in a cream sauce" WHAT??? and what the heck is "verjus" come on people get it right and stop being so hoity toity and use regular words please! Also Very Very overpriced with extremely Small portions - left hungry. The Pork -(which on the menu we got that night (diff from published one) cites having white chocolate - which in itself is strange w pork unless you are thinking some kind of mole but when you ask the waiter he says oh its in the vegetable puree - you cant even taste it) was served raw inside the two small strips you get - not pink but RAW - at least ask people how you want it cooked - and again the menu description was wrong it was not pork belly they waiter said "oh its pork loin". Pasta inedible - about four lumps of rolled thick pasta and not stuffed w riccotta as the menu said - it was swimming in a slightly spicy red sauce with cilantro (yes cilantro) topping and some Asian trumpet mushrooms - on the menu it is described as "caramelle pasta, ricotta, corno di toro, wild mushroom " - what the heck is "caramelle" pasta and what the heck is "corno di toro" in food terms? again chef is a bit full of him/herself to be trying to put this mess over on us....get real....and the "corno di toro" ( bulls horns) sauce filled the bowl but there was nothing to eat it with - they gave you no spoon and no bread - it wasnt that special but at that point i was really hungry and wanted to eat something and had to try to get the sauce up to my mouth with a fork...prop just as well i couldnt even do that . Will never go back.More

Love food served in creative ways. Very attentive services especially when one of our courses wasn't quite right, it was replaced with another option. Try the tasting menu for something different.

I had a pastrami Reuben. Wife had a Cubano sandwich and Soup. Companion had a salad. All were excellent. We ate late and there was not problem getting in or getting served. Sunny day so we ate outside. Large patio with many tables and chairs.

We always stop by when we are in town. It seems the quality of the food has dropped somewhat. Can't put my finger on what changed, it was just so so. The staff is lovely and many have been there for quite sometime.

Wow! Fantastic dinner! The foil gras was wonderful, decadent and delicate at the same time, the combination with peanuts was amazing. The gnocchis were delicious, soft and pillowy, beautifully combined with the sausage. All in all a wonderful meal, and Matthew, our server was a...delight!More

We live in France and have a home in Tucson, go figure. We love Tucson. We love Sonoran dogs, etc. Though a longtime fan of the Congress, the railroad tracks and train whistles, we had avoided Maynards. Just seemed too expensive, too formal? We decided...to try it. Damndest restaurant meal I've had in years, and we live in Paris. First dish was a Hail Mary for us, a bowl of sautéed green peppers, which I avoid, wife likes. They were mild, with this amazing sauce of miso, etc, that blew our minds. We ate every single morsel and drop of the sauce, hands down the best thing I've had in a restaurant in years! We're cooks and wary of restaurants, sitting there, waiting...waiting. Service was fantastic by a hilarious older gent, the rest of the meal great, a Wilcox Az white that was delicious. So good we ordered a bottlecto go, $24. Cool vibe... What can I say? You should go.More

My family and I dined at Maynard and as always we enjoyed our dinners . The menu is out of the ordinary and makes eating there a very special event. They also have an excellent a Happy Hour and occasional wine tasting out on the...patio when you are looking for a more casual experience. The staff is very knowledgeable and attentive.More

although downtown it is a very quiet lovely place to find a city retreat with great fresh food and a great variety of drink. Enjoy the quiet and the lovely staff as you unwind and get recharged near the historic train track.
