As near-native Tucsonans who value fresh ingredients and innovative cuisine, we have happily discovered a fine addition to the Tucson culinary scene! Chef Andrew Larkin’s new menu at the Lodge on the Desert contains many notable treats. Last night, my grilled calamari appetizer (a special not on the menu) with cherry peppers and multicolored cherry tomatoes on a bed of... More

After travelling all day on a plane from England and then a drive down from Phoenix I was ready for a couple of beers and a good nights sleep. This was not to be. On arrival I was informed at 2205 hrs that the bar shut at 2200 and it was "impossible" to get a beer and I would have... More

What I liked most: - the lodge itself is very nice, typical Mexican small buildings in a very nice cactus garden - free parking - room was huge (but a bit empty) What I didn't like: - breakfast! Terrible. It is a complimentary breakfast but it would be better to pay and have a real breakfast. Ridiculous and small choice... More

Sat on the patio and enjoyed drinks and dinner. The atmosphere was relaxing. Not what I expected. The food was fresh and delicious. Our server was very attentive. Will go back again and again.

We spent one night this past weekend at this hotel. The unique desert landscape at the hotel was breathtaking; however, it was too hot to sit outdoors. We were disappointed to learn the cocktail lounge and restaurant were not open on Sundays. Restaurants are nearby. The room we were given was small and smelled faintly of dog urine; but, the... This is my go to hotel in Tucson. The rooms are extremely large and most of the rooms have fireplaces, so it is extra cozy in the winter. It has a contemporary southwestern decor and is quite comfortable.

Don't know if they've changed chefs or management, but the quality of the food just keeps going downhill. The mussels in broth used to be our favorite appetizer / happy hour treat. This visit the mussels were presented in a watered-down tomato broth studded with pickled green chili's and loaded with small cubes of ham. Ham?! Did not do a... More

The resort satisfies the highest demands - paradies in the middle of the desert! Picturesque buildings, generously applied rooms with all facilities, wonderful swimmingpool surrounded by palms, dining underneath the stars - what a romantic atmosphere! The service is also consistently very good, friendly and professional. This resort is really worth a visit! Great tipp! Roland

The meals here were reasonable priced and very well presented. The staff was helpful with the wine selection.
