Really great meal. Delicious all around. Friendly staff. Steak just melted in my mouth. Appetizers were almost a meal in themselves. A very memorable night.

Yes, the steaks are expensive, but definitely worth it! And the tres leches cake to top things off made it even better!

This is an interesting concept, two restaurants marketed as one. Charro steak is on one side and Del Rey on the other. Both have a cool downtown vibe. I visited Del Rey for a Better Business Bureau networking event and the spread they had for...use was tremendous! Fresh oysters, meatballs, some sort of Mexican bruschetta? I'm not sure what I was eating because I didn't order off the menu, but they food was excellent and so was the service! They have a nice bar and I had a glass of Malbec that was reasonably priced. I am definitely going back to both restaurants for dinner!More

Years ago we visited El Charro's Steakhouse for the first time. Everything about the meal was excellent. About 9 months, we returned and the meal we got was so so. We decided to try again yesterday. After paying $125 plus $25 tip, we left feeling...we were just treated to a very sub-par meal. My filet looked like it came from roadkill. My wife's salmon was undercooked, fatty and slimey. My chocolate martini was just a brown drink: vodka, chocolate liquor with no cream and no extras for the presentation. We won't return. One good thing: Anthony is a very pleasant, professional waiter.More

We were in Tucson as part of a family road trip and were in search of a good steak. I found Charro and we were not disappointed. We started our meal with the table side guacamole, which I highly recommend. Probably one of the best...guacamoles I've had at a restaurant. For dinner, my husband had the Chef's special, which was the bone in ribeye with lobster tail and I had the filet. Both delicious. I eat my steak rare and the chef did not overcook. We also split the wedge salad, charred corn, and Verde Mac n cheese. All excellent. The ambience had a cool vibe and the service was great!!More

Our waiter Chris was very nice. Now for the important part...the food. I got the carne asada steak , it was good flavor, the beans that come with it were very bland. My husband ordered the Trout, when it came out we knew it wasn't...trout, it was salmon. We told our waiter and the manager came over and explained that on the box it read " Ocean Trout" but obviously it was salmon so he said he would adjust our bill. He made an adjustment of 8 dollars, guess it was better than nothing. The salmon was very good just not what he wanted. I would think a chef would know the difference but at any rate it was good. The corn was good, and the Caesar salad was good. We both had Silver Cadillac drinks, they were good . Overall I'd not make another trip to this restaurant for the price was not worth itMore

Sadly disappointed... thought I was in a Sizzler restaurant! After reading the reviews for this place my family and I decided this would be the one fine dining meal of our trip to Tucson. Things started to go downhill at the get go upon entering...Charro Steak & Del Rey. The hostess had a snooty attitude like she was too good for us. She looked put out when we told her that we didn't have a reservation... the restaurant was nearly empty! The server started off great with his introduction and demeaner, but that too fell by the wayside quickly. He would walk by numerous times and not refill my iced tea. (I always drink a lot during meals and my biggest indicator of a server's performance is not letting my glass get empty). I'll usually let a server pass by once without noticing. I'll then put my glass near the edge of the table that is closest to where they walk. If after the third pass and I have to ask for a refill then I'm over it. If I have to continually ask every time my glass is empty then the tip goes down dramatically. On the second refill he added so much ice that I couldn't take more than two drinks before it was empty! Ok, enough about the drink... appetizers haven't even been ordered yet. lol They excelled in this course. It was happy hour (apps half off) so we ordered Cast Iron Mushrooms and Prickly Pear Glazed Albondigas (a type of meatball). They were amazing. The main course was a fail. There wasn't anything that had me wanting to send anything back to the kitchen, but the sides were bland and not very appetizing. I had the filet and again, thought I was in a Sizzler (for those of you that are old enough to remember!) and not a fine dining establishment. My wife had the "Surf & Turf" Enchiladas Banderas and thought the lobster enchilada was borderline bad as it had a very weird, almost sour taste. The other two were not even worth mentioning. We didn't stick around for desert. Sorry, but we will not be visiting Charro Steak & Del Rey again!More

Julian gave impeccable service; atmosphere is great; food was good. The ribeye was not as thick as I like but it was very tender and well seasoned.

The aged beef in the cooler looked amazing but we didn't bring our big appetites. We enjoyed the flavorful Chef Carlotta's All Natural Chicken Soup (huge bowl) and the cast iron mushrooms along with prickly pear glazed albondigas. yummy. Thank you to Nique for excellent...service.More

While visiting friends in Tuscon had a night alone and wanted a steak restaurant. We got a recommendation for Charro Steak and decided to try it. It may have been an off night but it is worthy of mentioning since our experience was so universally...poor. Where to begin. First of all we were seated at table too close to the bar with a light shining in my wife's eyes from outside. After moving our table was okay even though too close to a large group even though the restaurant was almost empty. The food was uniformly poor. The guacamole was tasteless and we had to add lime and salt. The charred romaine wedge was poorly prepared. The quality of the meat was not up to steakhouse level and more like Outback Steakhouse. The charred brussel sprouts were almost inedible. It was essentially a totally tasteless poorly prepared meal. The atmosphere and service were okay. If you don't care about food you might enjoy this place.More

We were recommended to this restaurant by friends that live part time in Tucson. We made reservations & I highly recommend to do so. There are two sides of the restaurant: the steakhouse & Del Rey the seafood side. The atmosphere on the steakhouse side...was fine dining. The menu had a lot of options, a good wine list & a full bar. We brought my dad there for his 79th birthday & he thoroughly enjoyed it. A good fusion if steakhouse & Mexican food. They had a great staff & did a nice churro style dessert. I would go here again & would try the Del Rey side next time.More

Great flavors in a fun atmosphere! We had family in from out of town and this was the right blend of southwestern flavors in fresh food…with a nice wine list. We enjoyed the table-made guacamole (a must-have!), as well as the surf and turf enchiladas,...charrochurri salmon, seafood special, ceviche and the mesquite pollo asado. All were outstanding, though beware that the ceviche has a kick! Even though the restaurant was very busy (Friday night and we had reservations) our waitress was really great and attentive. My only advice might be that the live music -while nice to have- was a little loud; we felt lucky to be seated a bit away so that we could enjoy our conversation. Definitely a place to which we will return!More

Went for a Friday night happy hour. No one at the bar. Bartender was busy making drinks for diners at tables and talking with fellow employees. Beer and some wine were half price. A few appetizers were available. The atmosphere did not engender much enjoyment,...so we left after a drink and an appetizer. The restaurant is attractive and street parking is available.More

We really enjoyed our recent dinner here during our week’s stay in Tucson. Loved that we could actually make a reservation! Charming atmosphere in a restored old building in old Tucson and good service. Generous pour of wine by the glass, husband enjoyed his rib...eye steak and I my mussels. We shared a wonderful grilled romaine salad to start. I highly recommend this restaurant, one of the best meals of our trip (and we don’t normally patronize steak houses).More
