if you like good Indian food you can find it here. The person who has had good food from India will tell you this is the real deal. If you like spicy chicken the one here is top notch. If you do not want really spicy tell them. No goat for me due to allergys. not a fancy place but it is built on good food with a few items on the walls they selll a few items in the front like flowers that you knew it would do. My friends love the place and go here a lot.not expensive. a nice place to go to relax and eat.

One line review first: If you don't like good spicy food and want less spicy and less aromatic food, you will like this place, however if you are yearning for REALLY AUTHENTIC Indian food with all its spice, aroma and flavor, you will be a little bit disappointed. The chicken biriyani and vegetable biriyani we ordered were very so so. As I myself know how to prepare decent biriyani, the most magnetic aspect of the "biriyani" is its "flavor" and "aroma". I can tell that the biriyani (both Chicken and Veg) we had did not have the flavor at all and very much missing in "spicy" level. We requested for "very spicy" or "5 out of 5 spicy" and it was missing the spice-level that an authentic biriyani should have. In addition to biriyani, we ordered aloo gobi (potato and cauliflower sauteed in garam masala with cilantro flavor) and it was also meager in taste. However, the quantity of both the biriyani and the complimentary "naan" that you get along with the aloo gobi was more than sufficient. But the lady who served us was very very very very friendly and service was very good.

I need to give this place another try. It was decent when we went, but I wasn't enamored with it, and haven't been back. It is definitely the cheapest of all the Indian restaurants on the east side.

Once you have their Naan & other Indian dishes, you'll always want to come back for more. I loved their mutton karahi, a little spicy but good to the last bite. I could scoop up the last drop of their sauce with the nicely baked Naan & order a mango lassi to cool it off

I’m from that area of subcontinent and know the taste and cuisine very well I ordered chicken curry and trust me on this. Before this experience I thought my MIL made the worst chicken curry This was 1000 times worse I’m sure it was not even chicken 😫 I still have the bad taste a week later Now to be fair, we have eaten there before and not every dish is that bad. If you really want to taste real food from that area, my first choice is Kolachi, a rather new restaurant in Johnston. Their food is authentic to the core. You can order any dish and won’t be disappointed, only a little spicy which we love. Second to that is Rasa, a restaurant in East Greenwich. Excellent ambience in this place and good food (American style)

So this is a very modest shop that is like walking into a whole new country. Since I have taken cooking classes at Rasoi (and thoroughly enjoyed them) this is the perfect place to find authentic Indian ingredients that I can use in Indian, Pakistani, Thai and other Asian cooking. Prices are affordable and the counter folks are always humble and kind even when I ask lots of questions.

Walking into Not Just Snacks, I'm always floored by how few people have found this amazing little place. It's a secret my husband and I have been enjoying since before we were married--ten years, and this little jewel of a restaurant has never changed. A few other non-Indian diners know the secret, but the majority of the patrons seem to be native eaters of the delicious food on the menu. There's nothing impressive or trendy about the interior, though the walls have some seriously cool murals to look at while you're waiting for your culinary adventure. A counter at the front sells pakoras, samosas, and other Indian snacks and desserts to take away in a paper bag like the lucky person you are. The eat-in menu is only slightly less extensive than a fancier place. The prices are very low, and the food is absolutely delicious. This is the only place I can order biryani, because it's ruined me for other places. The pakoras, sweet lassis, and chicken tikka are some of our other favorites. Everything is brought out in plastic takeout containers, and ceremoniously served on simple metal plates. But you won't be thinking about the humble flatware when you taste this food. It looks like a hole in the wall, but give this place a try. Hiding inside is some of the best Indian food in Providence.

I always enjoy dining here. My favorite dish is their tandoori chicken, along with the delicious naan and the great dipping sauces. Try the honey ginger naan - it's almost a dessert. Also great are the mango lassi drink, the samosas and pakoras, and much more. The ambience is very far from fancy and instead simple and bright. Thumbs up.

You won't find great atmosphere here -- at all. But you'll find terrific Indian food at reasonable prices. My favorite is the tandoori chicken -- and the naan is great, too (try the honey ginger -- it's like a dessert).

Nothing pretentious here, just ordinary food, small portions, overpriced, brightly-lit interiors, no acoustic insulation. Many better Indian restaurants in Providence.

This is our most-frequented Indian restaurant of the 3 near our house. It's cheaper, and is just good Indian food. No "fusion" fuss like Rasoi (which I also love) and I'm fairly certain they use ghee, unlike India (which I also love). They've always been super friendly to us and our child, and while waiting for a takeout order I had a cheery political chat based on a button I was wearing. Some things are available to just grab and go, like samosas, and they are also affilated with the grocery across the street if you want to pick up yummies to use in your own kitchen.

One of those holes in the wall with authentic food. Always looking forward to eating here. That could use a makeover but who cares !

Went with my husband and the food was really awful , it had no taste at all. I don't know why people say that it has good food. Not at all Indian taste , but the american ppl do like it , it might be because they eat less spicy food. The food had no taste and the biryani which my husband ordered tasted sweet instead of spicy ! Won't recommend to anyone But the owners were really nice ! But the food is hopeless

We lived in Delhi at IIT Delhi on sabbatical from a University here. The masala dosa is as taste as what we used to eat at the local place on Cannaught Place.
