We've been visitors to Tony's for years and keep returning regularly. The best prosciutto and other Italian meats and cheese and a host of specialties, seasonal and year round, make this the best option for food shopping on the "Hill". The prepared foods are generally very good with some preparations rivaling old Italian excellence. The deli severs are very knowledgeable... More

Tony's Colonial is a must-visit if you are on 'The Hill'... not as big or busy as 'Venda', but the quality and authenticity is certainly on par! There are so many delicious Italian dishes to choose from... to either eat-in or take home! The bruschetta is to die for and the stuffed mushrooms, while a bit pricey, are absolutely wonderful!... The various prepared foods are fresh and delicious. So many things to choose from. The market has great things as well, so many types of Pasta, Cheese, etc. But, I went in for prepared foods for Sunday dinner and made a great choice with the lasagne, chicken cutlets, and breadsticks.

My husband and I happened to wander into this delightful little place while exploring Federal Hill for lunch. We both had meatball sandwiches and they were fabulous! We loved the warm Italian family atmosphere. Our lunch was less than $25 and worth every penny!

Probably the only old authentic italian market left on federal hill. The clerks are friendly and knowledgable. All kinds of fresh products from Italy in a family owned atmosphere . It may not be the biggest but I assure its the best.

The staff was so welcoming and kind and the food from the case was awesome!! Real deal Italian, I never get sick of hearing people speaking in the beautiful Italian language at places like these. Go, you won't be sorry!

Atwell's Ave boasts a number of fine Italian grocerias, but as one of the oldest, the Colonial is also one of the best. Great selection of aged artisan cheeses, salumeria and other Italian imported goods. Just like the North end, but without the parking hassles!

I like Tony's a lot. I live in the neighborhood and like the family vibe. Everyone there speaks Italian to one another and to the customers. But I was not too impressed with a chicken parm sandwich I had the other day: on ciabatta instead of a sub roll, not enough cheese or sauce. The whole thing was out of... More

Federal Hill is a foodie paradise! We wandered into Tony's and were very pleased. Very nice gentleman at the meat counter offered me a taste of their prosciutto - Many times prosciutto can be tough and chewy - not here - it was the most flavorful and tender prosciutto I have ever had anywhere! The chocolate covered chocolate biscottis were... More
