When we visited Cafe Choklad on our first day in Providence, they had run out of the chicken pot pie. Though we had two other excellent pot pies, we returned the next day for the chicken. YUM! Everything we ate there, including their wonderful variety...of cookies, was excellent, and their coffee is exceptional. Oh yes, and the staff makes you feel so welcome on your first visit. Thank you, Cafe Choklad.More

My husband, our 2 teenagers and myself had lunch last week there while vacationing in RI from out-of-state. The service was fast and friendly. My husband and I took the lobster roll. They were each $5 cheaper than in Newport, with significantly more lobster meat....It was seasoned just enough to not overshadow the lobster taste. We enjoyed it immensely. Our children took other sandwich (falafel and chicken) which they really enjoyed too. For dessert, we shared a macaroon and a cranberry-orange scone. The macaroon had plenty of coconut and wasn't too greasy or sweet. The scone really tasted orange, was soft inside and crunchy outside. Both were delicious. My husband and I had an espresso to accompany our sweets. There were one of the best we had in the US! Strong coffee taste but not bitter. If it weren't a 7-hour drive from home, we would go back there for sure!More

There is very little in the way of restaurants on Main Street in Providence, especially around RISD. I found the prices to be high, especially for coffee and sandwiches. The service is spotty with an ever rotating crew. As a result, service can be slow...during busy times.More

This nicely cozy place has spme beautiful art work on the walls and a friendly pleasant atmosphere. The small menu has several appealing items. . You need to check out the small blackboard for specials which we learned bout only after seeing another patron eating...a quiche that otherwise wasn't on the menu. Sandwich size was average. Tuna was decent bu nothing special. Vegguie burger was good and the fig jam sweet and flavorful. The pastries and cookies looked like they could be the bet choice.More

I think they cater to tourists and casual visitors. You wait in line to order a meal, then wait longer to pay and for all this you get the smallest and most overpriced sandwich ever. Advertised as a cobb salad wrap, mine had lettuce, dressing...and cheese. I think there was a slice of deli chicken but had to go back to get the guacamole, only to have the server say I ordered a sandwich without it (she was wrong). Worst sandwich ever.More

Came in on a cold winter's day to this warm, cozy cafe. Cheery and comfortable decor and friendly staff made for a welcoming atmosphere. We both enjoyed our tasty sandwiches and drinks and at reasonable prices. Great art work for sale on the walls, and...handmade chocolates to take with you for the trip home.More
