My family and I have been coming here for about twenty years now and have never been disappointed in the food, service, or the setting. Though we've never come for breakfast, I think I've had almost everything else on the menu: nothing is short of...delicious! The waitstaff is some of the I've encountered anywhere: welcoming, friendly, helpful--occasionally they will even share their own recipes with you! The restaurant is charming, cozy, lively, and easy to get to; parking is never a problem. Go and see for yourselves!More

A long time favorite of my family's, Mexico Garibaldi is about as close to authentic Mexican cuisine as one can get in RI without having to cross the border. It is well worth the drive far up Atwells to visit. They do have some typical...Tex-Mex style dishes, but the best and freshest tasting dishes are their $1.50 tacos. Our favorite fillers: lengua (beef tongue), barbacoa (goat), and various fried or seasoned pork. Tender, flavorful, pinquant with fresh cilantro, onion, and lime juice. Other favorites are the mushroom quesadillas and menudo (tripe soup). We love the queso fundido (like a Mexican fondue but more fun -- and never enough steamed tortillas for it) and as other reviewers have already called out, terrific tortilla chips with cheese and refried beans (we fight over the nice bean-soaked chips on the bottom!). I also particularly like the cooked whole beans as an alternative to the refried beans. A shout-out to Mexico Garibaldi's fresh complimentary salsas (tomatillo and tomato-based versions) -- they have a great personality and real heat vs. the typically tepid and ordinary versions at most Tex-Mex establishments.More

Great little place in downtown that has great food. The décor is uniquely Mexican and the wait staff are fast and friendly. The food is delicious and reasonably priced.

We love Mexico Garibaldi because the food reminds us of the delicious street food we always eat when we go to Tulum. The cocktel de camarones and lengue tacos are especially delish. We bring their homemade salsa's home when we are having a party. The...owner and all the wait staff are very friendly and cordial. We feel like family there, even though we're gringos. The margaritas are the only downside because they don't make their own sour mix. They are okay but nothing special. We hope they will start mixing up their own sour mix soon. This restaurant also passed muster with my Peruvian sister in law, and that's saying something.More

I am usually one of the few, if not the only, gringo in this place. The food is excellent, and the salsa is to die for. Have been here with a med student from Mexico City and he heartily endorsed the authenticity of the cooking....Love the pozole, a mexican stew, served only on weekends.More

I first came here when I was in college 20 years ago and have returned many, many times over. I first met the owner Pepe, when I was organizing an ethnic dinner as a requirement of a cultural anthropology course. He graciously walked me through...the entire menu explaining the ingredients and methodologies used in the preparation of the food along with its historical origins. We agreed on a special menu for my classmates and I and set a date for a table of eight. The dinner was great but I was the only one who showed up! Here I am an embarrassed and poor college student figuring I owe him at least fifty dollars that I don't have. I was amazed when he told me not to worry about it and he let me take the food home! I never forgot that and when back in Providence I always stop in for lunch or dinner. The food is fresh, authentic and the best you'll find anywhere. My favorites are the tostada, torta and the burrito particularly the goat meat variety. The cheese they use is the difference here man. Its so good it just blends with the meat and tastes outstanding! just thinking about it makes me want to drive the hour to Providence and get a goat meat torta its that good!More

The best Mexican food in providence. The food here is really classic Mexican, - not to be mistaken with tex-mex. They use the right kind of queso fresco and have a few kinds of home made salsa ranging in spiciness. My favorite is the quesadillas...with hongos (mushrooms), they are crispy and delicious. The service is great. The only reason I wouldn't give them 5 stars is it can be kind of loud in there - they have a juke box - and the food can be a bit greasy.More

Went to this place one time, the food and atmosphere were both gross. A friend took me and a friend there and said "I don't know why, but everyone I take here hates it, but I like it" Won't go back.
