Soban is on Thayer Street, a restaurant row adjacent to the Brown University Campus. Here you can find a selection of classic Korean dishes. Some are suitable for omnivores, while others will satisfy vegans. My companion and I had stone bowl dishes and found the crispy rice on the bottom particularly delicious. There is a small selection of self serve kimchi (Korean pickles used as side dishes). Prices suit a student budget. As other reviewers have noted, you don’t come here for the ambiance.

A pretty bare bones korean eatery. One can see that it is frequented by students. There is not much of a service but the food is very good.

OK, the place has no charm, but it has good food at a good value. We had just arrived in town and were looking for something to eat when we noticed several Korean students walking around and that gave us the idea to look for a Korean restaurant. Service was quick and friendly. Food was very good with generous portions.

Go down a few stairs into a kind of grubby room. Order at a makeshift counter. It looks like it's going to be fast but we waited over 20 minutes for some dumplings and a Korean vegetable roll. Excessive. The dumplings we're good. The food isn't cheap enough to make up for the dingy surroundings.

This fast food place has average Korean food but it's enough to satisfy any Korean food craving I might have. I always go for the beef bibimbap (not the stone pot).

I’ve been to soban many times and was never disappointed. There’s self-service soup and water, or you can purchase drinks when you order your food. The food comes out quite fast even when there are a lot of people in the restaurant. The service is fast, and the food is delicious. The location is great, located on Thayer st, you can just walk from Brown University’s campus or the bus stop and it closes at 10, so students can grab a late dinner after class. I would definitely go back again, it’s a great place to go when you’re craving Korean cuisine.

Great location and friendly service during this summer holiday period. The food is nothing to write home about but it's adequate and reasonably priced. Free soup for guests is a nice touch. There is a genuine Korean feel.
