I won't say this is the best food on the Big Island, because that's probably at Mauna Kea. But this is clearly the best food for the price (very moderate) and well worth the trip up to Kawaihae, especially if you like pizza. We liked it so much we ate here on two separate occasions. The chili shrimp pizza is... More

Easy to find, good food, excellent service. Salads, pizza, pasta and good bar. If busy be prepared for a wait. Better to not go on a holiday unless reserved. Steps from the harbor and a small sweet beach for swimming.

We enjoyed lunch and menu variety. Popular lunch sport for island young professionals, avoid 12 to 1.

When visiting Hilo on the Big island of Hawaii, we had an amazing dining experience at Cafe Pesto at the recommendation of our cousins, who have a condo in Kona~ When they visit Hilo they enjoy eating at Cafe Pesto as we did. The food was delicious with beautiful presentation. We look forward to a return visit and finding experience.

I have been coming to Cafe Pesto for a good 15 years. I come for 2 things. 1. The coconut margarita and 2. Coconut calamari. Usually both are excellent .. I went with a friend last night and was sooooooo disappointed . We ordered my usual and a Pizza. My calamari came out with not a single coconut flake anywhere..... More

Café Pesto in Hilo is the best, and this branch is little sparse on the atmosphere. close to Hapuna however, so easy drive. Food was average.

We heard good things about this eatery so we checked it out. Restaurant was nice, atmosphere was good. Variety of food to choose from. We heard the pizza was really good but unfortunately most of us had just eaten pizza so we ordered other items from pasta to ribs. All was good.

We are there twice. The pizza was great. I didn't eat it all and took it back to my hotel to enjoy it later. Second time I got pasta which was just ok. Nice, casual environment. Prices are reasonable.

I visited this restaurant because I was staying at the nearby Hotel and the reviews on TripAdvisor seemed ok, so I decided to try it. Bad mistake. As an italian tourist in Hawaii, I certainly don't expect to find my mother's pasta served in a commercial restaurant, especially considering Ive been living in Asia for the pst 20 years, so... Four of us ate here a couple of times on our visit to Hawaii, and all of us enjoyed the food both times. The food was very tasty and the portion sizes were good. The servers were friendly and adequately attentive. Prices were average for Hawaii. If you go here, you're going for the food not the views (there isn't... More

"The best of Hawaii's hidden treasures," claim food critics and locals alike. The menu features fresh local seafood, exotic pizzas, colorful eclectic salads and Asian inspired pastas and risottos. The harbor settings, rich in Hawai'ian history, provide a backdrop of authenticity and charm to the award-winning restaurant. Visit the stone temple Heiau of Kawaihae harbor to view the ancient shark deities on their sunset vigils.
