I had eaten at Cafe Pesto before a couple of times - both the one here in Kawaihae on the beautiful Big Island of Hawaii, and also in Hilo, same island. As I had been told on the phone that they were very busy (and advised me to pass) I did not arrive until 8:45pm and seated myself at the... More

We had spent the morning at Hapuna Beach then headed down the road a bit and found this cafe. It's air conditioned and has a touch of class, yet still casual. Enjoyed an Opah fish salad (had never heard of that fish before but it was charbroiled to perfection and very tasty, Being the carb freak that I am though... More

Having spent our honeymoon on the Big Island 20+ yrs ago... we have fond memories of some great meals at Cafe Pesto - sadly, sometimes your favorite memories don't always work out when you go back to a place that was great then but now, not so much... such is not the case with Cafe Pesto - on the many... When we go to the big island we stay at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. We usually eat 3 or 4 meals at this restaurant. The food is very good and very fresh. It is worth the drive if your staying in the Mauna Kea or Hapuna resort area.

For the money, this was a decent find. We called ahead to book our table and were seated right away. We waited a long time for our server to come to our table but he was very nice when he came to take our order. Jim had a pizza (yummy) and I had the linguini with pesto (just okay. Appeared... More

Good food and service - and had numerous choices that were gluten-free. Nice open atmosphere and good place to stop.

We were looking for a nice restaurant besides high priced hotel general food. So we asked a couple of locals and they gave us a lot on information. One was this gem. When we went in the hostess greeted us with a nice smile and aloha. The service was outstanding as was the food. We had salad, soup, pizza and... More

We were surprised to find such a good restaurant in this tiny town. The salmon fettuccini was wonderful! I loved the sauce. The scallops and shrimp pesto was also tasty. There is not a good view to look at but the restaurant is quaint and has great food. It is a short drive from the resorts. Enjoy!

Eaten here many times for lunch and dinner and have always been pleased with the food, service and relaxed ambiance. Whether you want a light salad, pizza, sandwich or more hearty fare you will find something you will like on the menu. Love they have half portions that are good sized servings. Highly recommended.

Been coming to Pesto's since my first Hawaiian visit- a long, long time ago. Since then, it's been one of (the family's) favorite places to eat. Love that it is casual and delicious. This past visit I fell in love with their apple crisp dessert. It's definitely my new favorite, and I've been craving it since I left! The wait... More
