The Hawaiian Name of this place is “Hale I a” which means Fish House. After trying several Poke places, this is the best one, at least on the West Coast of Big Island. We ordered one poke plate and cooked fish and seafood plate. Both...portions are generous, fresh and tasty. Prices are affordable. Fresh fish were being delivered while we were there. The two ladies were very friendly explaining what the options are.More

Poke is super tasty and fresh. The fresh fish is amazing, we lightly seared the tuna and it was to die for! We went back there multiple times while on the Island. Already missing the poke!

Your fish could not be fresher unless you pulled it out of the ocean yourself. Excellent poke -- don't miss their choke poke bowl. They serve it up with aloha every time we go in. A true gem.

Fisherman park their trucks in the morning at the loading dock and unload fresh local caught fish. The fresh fish are immediately filleted and put in the display case for purchase if you want to cook your own meal or make sashimi. If you want...something prepared they have several great pokes and other things to eat or you can go to their fish truck next to the store to pick up a made to order lunch using the same fresh fish you can buy in the store. The family that owns and runs the store and truck are helpful, friendly and if you need advice on how to prepare your fish just ask. Highly recommended.More

We had 2 poke bowls, 1 with Hawaiian, 1 with shoyu+wakame and 3/4# of spicy ahi. Everything was on point. Loved that their spicy was mayo free! Highly recommend! The woman running the show was awesome: friendly, attentive, accomodating and masked up!

Very nice people; great fish! As fresh as could be, and extremely delicious later that night. The staff also gave us ideas for how to prepare it.

We've enjoyed during prior year's visits picking up fresh poke here for lunch - excellent quality. This year we rented a house with a kitchen and bought a different type of freshly caught (never frozen) fish each day to prepare for dinner. (Recommend getting there...early to take advantage of the many options.) The staff are very friendly and happy to answer your questions about preparation. Besides the familiar ahi, ono, and mahi-mahi, the opakapaka (pink snapper) was particularly good. Very unassuming. Right across from the harbor. Take-out only.More

Generous portion (lid can't close, too full!) and so delicious! This unassuming place, was one of the highlights of my most recent trip. Go into this little shop, get yourself something! I plan to be back.

We would not miss this place on our annual visit to Kona. The fish is so fresh and the staff incredibly helpful. In addition to fillets for dinner, we picked up two different types of their homemade tuna poke - fantastic!

Probably one of the best if not they best fish market on the island. We had both the Mahi and Opah BBQ'd on separate nights and both turned out excellent. If you are not sure how to prepare your fish, etc. just ask them like...we did and you won't go wrong. We don't get fresh fish at home so this was a big treat. Prices might a bit steep, but hey we were on vacation. They so much more they offer available in their cases. Shrimp, scallops and lots of local cuisine. We did not try there food truck parked nearby, but judging by the comments if was very good. Worth a stop if you like fish for sure.More
