This Albuquerque icon is still as beautiful as ever. It's sad to see the changes in quality and service. The bar and restaurant only have four beers on tap, all of which were served at room temperature. When I complained, the waitress said, "The bartender...can chill the glass, but the temperature is the temperature." Bottled beer was limited to American standards (Bud Miller, Coors) and a short list of Mexican Beers. The wine list is still extensive and reasonably priced. If you want game (deer, wild boar, duck) you might be happy. We ordered traditional food, including five steaks, all of which were overcooked. The asparagus,on the other hand, was basically uncooked. The salads well received, but the boiled prawn appetizer (shrimp) was almost crisp in texture and very overcooked. We hadn't been to the Rancher's Club for about six months. We used to go frequently. We didn't recognize any of the staff. It wasn't horrible, but it didn't meet the standard this noble establishment had set for itself. The check, including tip, was over $900.00, and that's okay, but when you charge that much, the food should be properly prepared and a man should be able to get a COLD beer.More

With mounted heads of antelope and bison looking on, we settled in to survey the menu, mostly of hoofed game, with a duck dish, some seafood and -- of course -- beef steak thrown in. From the extensive and varied wine list, we selected a...red blend by the glass and received a generous pour that was tasty and surprisingly complex. The appetizers, soups and salads looked tempting, but after receiving our entree of axis deer cooked to medium rare perfection, we were glad we'd passed on the starters. With the sides of mashed sweet potatoes and fresh vegetable medley -- Brussels sprouts, mushrooms and onions -- our order was all that two of us could handle. BTW: The restaurant charges $8 for splitting the entree, even if you eat off the same plate. Our server was knowledgeable, professional and cordial -- attentive without being intrusive.More

Wonderful food. Large appetizer. Great service. Save room for dessert. The ranch pictures are historic.

We had an excellent meal on Christmas afternoon. The service was very responsive to questions I had with the wine selection. It was a very relaxing environment. Best of all, Ranchers did all the prep and clean up!

I had dinner at the Rancher's Club on Dec. 7th about 5:30pm. I was traveling and was looking for a good steak and a glass of wine. The RC stood out on Yelp, so I gave it a try--everything was excellent! Not being familiar with...Albuquerque, I missed it on my first drive by; it's located in the Crowne Plaza Hotel building. The restaurant is nicely appointed in western style motif with large pictures, Longhorn horns, plush chairs, and an aire of old world elegance--I liked it. Iris was my server and she did a great job of explaining the menu and serving me throughout my dinner--she was very attentive. I had the bison tenderloin served "black and blue" and they did it perfectly and it was a great piece of meat. I accompanied the bison with the smoked gouda hash browns, which were also excellent. Iris recommend a nice red blend for the wine and it was a good recommendation--everything led to a very enjoyable and relaxing dinner. Highly recommended and I would return! A solid 4 star restaurant.More

The Rancher's Club of New Mexico has such a wonderful reputation for delectable food and quality service and we decided to dine there on Thanksgiving. Placed our reservations on Open Table and called a day before Thanksgiving to reconfirm it. Arrived there 15 minutes earlier...and a young Hostess dressed in black attire told us we should get our table by 7pm. We waited and had drinks at the bar and had to recheck with another Hostess when we were not called when the time was up. This older lady apologized and went to set a table for us immediately at a booth seating. The younger hostess had apparently forgotten about us! Then our male server was a real disappointment! Never bother to ask if I need a drink when he noticed my hubby's half filled Martini that he brought from the bar on the table. Took our food orders and never bother to ask hubby what kind of sauce accompaniment he liked for his Antelope Chop but only offered his side order. Never once did he check on how we were doing while we were having our meal. Hubby ordered a red wine to go with his meal when we placed our food order and he totally forgot about it. Couldn't find him to check what had happened and was almost through with his dinner when he reappeared from somewhere. Asked him about the wine and the surprise was he never bother to apologise for the oversight. This waiter was so impersonal and detached compared to the rest of the staff. It would be an excellent evening if not for this Goof Ball male waiter who just wanted to sell the most expensive BOTTLE of wine at every table he served!More

This is one of the best restaurants in Albuquerque as well as anywhere in New Mexico. The evening dinners are memorable and suitable for your finest occasions. This is a fine high end restaurant with the amenities you expect in a fine restaurant. Far better...personalized service than I have experienced in any other restaurant in New Mexico. Excellent entrees, sides, wine and immaculate service. An experience to remember!More

My wife and I, along with another couple, went to the Ranchers Club a few nights ago. We had one of the best meals we can remember. The service was 1st class, our waiter was superb, the wine selection was phenomenal, and of course, the...food was outstanding. Take note: this is not a fast-food restaurant, so be prepared to savor the ambiance over a welcoming glass of wine or your favorite drink. The Ranchers Club is a fall-back to an earlier time when food, drink, and conversation is to be unrushed, enjoyed ... where you can take a deep breath, sit back ... and RELAX! My beef filet mignon was prepared to perfection, as was the Mahi-Mahi and the chicken dishes. My steak was tender enough to cut with my fork ... a perfect "black and blue". My compliments to the chef and the entire staff. I also want to mention the staff's recommendation for the dinner wine; a dark red Cabernet Sauvignon (Slingshot). This label was an instant hit with our entire table. Finally, let me mention the desserts. From carrot cake to cheesecake ... and a real treat, their Mexican chocolate ganache cake. It would be a sin to not end your meal with a sampling of these incredible delights. Our meal, in fact, our entire evening was a delight. I want to thank Jacy Goad, the General Manager and resident wine expert for her attention to training and detail. This is our new go-to restaurant for special occasions ... and when I want the best steak (and romantic evening) in town.More

Yes, there's an $8 charge. But the portions are so generous that you may well want to pay that and share.
