Fabulous Soul Food! Our granddaughter's dance school did a Jazz production. To celebrate we thought we would get some chicken and waffles like the jazz performers in New Orleans. I got grits and shrimp. Creamy, cheesy with big ol shrimp. Just spicy enough! The rest got fried chicken wings with waffles. The wings were crispy, cooked perfectly. The waffles were perfect for wrapping around a bite of chicken. Served with syrup and cinnamon honey butter. So good! They have a sports bar area that my husband checked out, serves beer. Very nice covered patio. The walls are covered with a great selection of movie posters, and posters of jazz performers, etc. I loved the replica of Prince's guitar! Service was awesome! Everyone so friendly. We thanked Frank personally for a wonderful meal. Highly recommend! We'll be back!

The waffles are on the thin side but they hold up extremely well because they are more buckwheat. The chicken has a perfect amount of spice and are cooked to literally to perfection. Prices were very reasonable with excellent service. So good we went back the next day to get some to go. Will be back again.

Very casual and very friendly. We were greeted with smiles and our server was pleasant and helpful. Loved all of the memorabilia on the walls.
Chicken and waffles - you can’t go wrong. The menu is limited to mostly chicken, but includes some sandwiches like catfish. We were there for the chicken and waffles - it was excellent!
They were busy and had people waiting for seats by the time we left.

Watch out overcharging. Waitress tried to add price for side which where included in the catfish meal. Once brought to her attention, she had to go check the menu. Training?? Final billing was done using a card reader and she never showed the final totals including adding a 15 percent tip. After seeing my billing on my online Visa account, realized she had accessed a 25 percent tip. This for very poor service including screwing up our order which the brought us fried mushrooms. Didn’t ever know these were on menus.
Will not go back. Be very careful or just find another place.

This was our first time at Frank's. We order 2 catfish dinners to go (curbside). The catfish and sides were excellent. Nice, friendly staff. Hot and all ready to go when we arrived. Great find. We'll be back.

The shrimp n grits were the best I’ve ever had in my life! Even topped my grandmothers receipe! The chicken wings are amazing. 10/10 recommend this restaurant

10 out of 10😊 the chicken was fabulous and the famous sauce very tasty! The fries were awesome too! The service was great, very attentive waitress. I’d go again!

The fried chicken and waffles are good. The chicken tenders were not greasy at all (not very large either). The service was excellent. The atmosphere was nice, eating outside on a nice day.

Where do I begin....
First off - shout out to the hostess! Second, I've supported FC&W a few times; the first when they were off San Mateo, the second with friends who frequent the establishment OFTEN, and now this 3rd time. This time, was AWFUL! The wait time wasn't too bad and was to be expected for a Saturday and a party of 7. However, upon being seated it took our waitress almost 20 minutes to even greet our table and another 15 to get our drinks. She had no smile, no personality and no desire to be somewhat quick even for drinks. Thank goodness, we already knew what we wanted so ordered with the drinks. Our food finally came and it was mediocre at best. Out of all the items ordered, the cheese fries and collard greens were the least favorite. The fries tasted like they were cooked in old oil and the cheese placed on top was something, you could make at home with fries and a slice of cheese. The collard greens had the flavor but wayyyyy too salty!
The waitress never checked on us, and the other waitress who helped bring the food out was nice enough to bring us another container of ranch since they didn't have it with the order of fried pickles. We needed an extra plate and since our waitress went MIA numerous of times, the hostess was nice enough to help us by bringing us the extra plate. When it came time to pay the bill, we asked her if she could split the bill and she had the audacity to say, she didn't have time because of her other tables but if we wanted to split it, she could get someone else. Please understand, I know how busy waitresses/waiters work.... however there wasn't a problem taking her time to get 7 drinks, or even greet the table so why now was it an issue of time to split our bill?
At that point, I said forget it. So she walked off, I'm assuming to ask if she could split the bill and came back with an attitude asking what items we wanted split. But by that time, it was obvious it was a hassle so I just gave her a card to pay it in full. But before she did, I wanted to make sure our order was correct since we did not receive an actual printed bill. She just came with a tablet ready to take the payment so I asked her if I could verify our order was correct. Again, attitude.
So I quickly browsed our order which for the most part looked correct but I would advise, categorizing the menu items easier so it's easy to verify. I went ahead and okay'd the payment - HUGE MISTAKE! She then asked if I wanted a receipt which I absolutely did but she said they couldn't print one but could email one instead. So I entered my email. We left because at that point the experience was overrated and I was irritated. Upon looking at my receipt not only were we overcharged an item that I didn't catch but also a 20% gratuity was added. Like most establishments, it is understood an automatic gratuity is expected for parties of 6 or more which I expected. But 20%? For what exactly? Slow service, bad attitude, and service from someone who clearly did not want to be at work.
Any black owned business in Albuquerque always needs support but do better! A better ventilation system is needed, (1) I shouldn't have to re-shower to get the smell of old oil out of my hair and clothes, (2) it is understood service workers become more scarce but when patrons leave reviews, take this into account and get better customer service (again shout out to the hostess), and (3) include a print out of the receipt so overcharging isn't being done.
As far as the taste of the food, the waffles and shrimp and grits are probably the best items on the menu.

Service was slow. Service was bad waffles or cold and awful. Everything was too greasy. I’ll never go there again. Without the chicken was not that great either.

The Catfish Platter was off the charts too. Fried beans; to die for and a new favorite. The food, service and ambiance is great. What a gem.

Had the chicken tenders (very tasty), waffles (crispy and sweet), yams and greens. All were top notch! Will definitely be going back. And the kids love the Kool Aid.

Enoyed the chicken tenders, waffles, slaw, fries plus mushrooms. For someone not into fried foods Frank's will be an exception. Family friendly environment along with music that took us down memory lane.

This place is the real thing!
Having lived and worked in Louisiana back in the 70’s I was excited when our friends from ABQ suggested this place!
Great menu - Great,friendly staff
And cute decor
The diverse menu is amazing!
Fried Okra? YES
Collar Greens? YES
Catfish? YES
Grits? Heck YES!
All of this for 1/2 the cost of Papadux !!!

So glad they moved to a larger location so that we don’t have to be concerned about getting a table at most times.
We had the catfish platter, two large sides and the chicken tenders with fries and coleslaw.
The catfish was out of this world and we are from Louisiana and know how catfish is supposed to taste.😋
The chicken tenders were large pieces of white meat fried to perfection!
