El Modelo is an Albuquerque fixture. It is housed in its own building on Second Street, just below Cesar Chavez Boulevard. It has been in the same building, unchanged, since the late 1940s. Park in the lot on the side and note the picnic tables...More

So for starters, this place is take out only. And located in a crummy part of town. So don't go expecting any kind of atmosphere. Placed my order of a chicken enchilada plate, a tamale plate and a bean burrito. With tax came to just...More

They make the best tamales that I have ever eaten. The masa to meat ratio is perfect. I am very picky about the masa flavor. Their masa has a great flavor. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant's tamales.

Absolute proof that location doesn't matter if the food is good. And, it is. Mexican food menu. Take out only by the railroad tracks, next to an overpass in a nondescript part of town. Started in a home and just stayed as its popularity grew....More

This is the spot if you want authentic Mexican food. The tamales and everything are great. Prices are good. One person has a complaint about parking. It's worth the wait.

Not sure what all the fuss is about this place, it was just ok to me. Prices were good, the food is decent but the parking is hell and the place is very overcrowded no matter what time you come in. Also there's no indoor...More

traditionally, tamales do not contain wheat flour. check with the vendor/restaurant whether flour has been added to the masa.
