Basically a take-out place but it has a number of tables outside that are usually a pleasant place to eat, even in summer. There is a wide variety of Mexican items and several combination plates. There is absolutely no place to eat inside and I did not see a restroom (I didn't ask, either). Every food item our group ordered... More

This is some of the best food in Albuquerque. We picked up a large take-out order for 6 people and everything was great. We have never had a bad meal from El Modelo. We suggest getting takeout since there are no public restrooms and it's too hot to sit outside. Great food at a great price.

I ordered the Tamales Special and a drink for $10. The portions are huge. The service was quick and everybody was nice. It was spicy and good. But be ready to eat outside. There are some decent picnic type tables right outside and when it's 105 degrees, it is not pleasant.

Best tamales we've ever had! Huge servings. Also got the green chilies bean burrito & it was the best. Counter service with some outdoor picnic tables.

Excellent tamales. Sit on the outside benches for a fast lunch. Great take out for a crowd. Burritos, tacos, tortillas.

I can only vouch for the breakfast menu. But this place is by far the best hole in the wall. The carne adovada is BEST IN NEW MEXICO. By the pint, burrito, plato. Whatever. It is fantastic.

This is a hidden gem that you'd never know about unless the locals tell you. So far, I've only tried the Stuff Sopaipilla but I am hooked on it. Extremely reasonable prices, no nonsense menu, fast service, and plenty enough to eat. If you leave there hungry, that's your own fault. Great place to grab lunch on a budget...I just... More

I ordered the Hot Tamales and I wasn't disappointed. The prices were great and the quality of the food was outstanding.
