Dinner was wonderful as always. My duck entree and my husband's steak perfectly prepared. Our waitress did a great job despite having her hands full with several couples and two large tables (one being a close out dinner for a movie filmed in area to the delight of my husband)

I have been to the Artichoke Cafe several times. This visit with friends was dissapointing. I had the crab cakes and salad as I had late lunch. The salad was ok but not very inventive and small. The crab was just flat tasting. Uninspired. The sauce added nothing. For the price, I was not thrilled. Maybe we went on an... More

As dedicated foodies, we've tried all the upscale restaurants in town and this one is best, for many reasons: innovative chef, excellent service and a terrific wine list. We enjoyed several in the trendier Nob Hill part of town, but not as much as this one downtown. The cured tuna crudo was truly outstanding, as was the deconstructed citrus meringue... More

have been to this restaurant several times. My wife likes rack of lamb even though she thinks Yanni is better. We often order artichoke which is quite good as well.

We had an anniversary dinner planned which included some drinks at the bar side and dinner in the restaurant. The place is very nicely laid out although a in a bit of an oddity, all bar patrons had to walk through the party room (where a party was in swing) to enter or exit the bar. The bar is a... More

Located in East Downtown, Artichoke is a great spot for a special occasion. The also have a wine bar for less formal options. All around divine! They have scallops wrapped in prosciutto that you'll still be savoring years later...

Artichoke Cafe is one of the nicer places on Central, sandwiched between the U district and downtown. It is elegant, offers great service (even when you don't have a reservation), and the food is wonderful. I've never been disappointed with either food or service here.

This is the place I take VIP out-of-town visitors for lunch, they are never disappointed. Many dishes on the menu have interesting creative twists to them, the service and the atmosphere are excellent - upscale without being stuffy.

I wasn't expecting a lot. I had spent the last five days eating in cafe's and restaurants Edgewood, Moriarty, and Albuquerque.. However, my wife wanted to go to a nice restaurant. We looked something up on TripAdvisor and we found this place. We were really surprised and delighted to have wonderful cuisine, nice wine, and a nice ambiance as well... More
