This restaurant is a must visit. Everything on the menu is delicious! The atmosphere is delightful and the staff are very very friendly. Don’t miss the churros with chocolate sauce for dessert. They are the best I have ever had. So light and sumptuous!!

A friend talked with us about this restaurant under new management at the Hispanic Cultural Center. Having this fine restaurant at the Center is definitely a plus for Albuquerque and Albuquerque tourism. So what is it all about? This self-styled “Latin Fusion” room makes every...effort to fulfill its promise. The menu is unique for Albuquerque. Each dish is based solidly on New Mexican and/or South American cooking. Chef Stefani Mangrum is very bright and very enthusiastic about the project...and it shows in her food. My wife had a wonderful veggie crepe with a huge side salad. She pronounced it “awesome.” I had a steak salad that was full of Latino cues and way more than I couild eat at one sitting. We each had a top flight Mexican beer (Well, I had two) with lime. Along with the meal was a delicious piece of house made sage bread. The bread was a treat with butter. Our meal came to about $45 and well worth it. I should mention that my steak salad at $13 was just about most expensive item on the menu, including all the various entrees. Since La Fonda Del Bosque is located at the entrance to the Hispanic Cultural Center the Center’s fine art gallery is nearby and well worth a visit.More

We went here for the first time and had to wonder why we had not tried previously! Just walking into the restaurant is an experience. It is a beautiful, airy and visually pleasing space. Now the food is special! We started with the soup of...the day, a tomato bisque that had a little heat. The kind of heat that you don['t notice on the first few spoonfuls but gently builds and just warms your mouth. The green chili chicken soup was also on spot. Each soup was accompanied with crusty bread. Our entrees were the chicken and mushroom crepe of the day which was SO flavorful and packed with beautifully seasoned mushrooms wrapped in a crepe with an lovely sauce. The mushroom relleno was equally tasty, and I particularly enjoyed the breading which had a unique flavor and crunch. Each entree was accompanied with a very large salad with mixed greens and veggies. The balsamic vinaigrette was perfect. When you eat here, and YOU REALLY SHOULD, keep in mind that the portions are quite generous. P.S. The wine list is nice!More

We had lunch here prior to our visit to the Hispanic Cultural Center's Art Museum. We started with the Guacamole and Trio of Salsas with homemade chips. This was a delicious & filling appetizer. We ordered two entrees, the crepe of the day & the...wild mushroom chile relleno. Both were unique and well prepared, and were served with huge salads. The attentive server, Noah, explained that one of my 2 rellenos burst so the chef was preparing a 2nd one that would be delivered soon. Shortly after, the chef brought out 2 more rellenos and apologized for the wait and then visited with us. I took one relleno home for dinner. We'll definitely return soon.More

We hadn't intended to eat here. We were at the National Hispanic Cultural Center and asked about a cafe. The nice woman at the desk marched across the courtyard and through the halls and showed us La Fonda del Bosque. The waiter, Noah, was very...attentive and helped us learn what the menu offered. We both chose the chicken and mushroom crepes. Oh boy!!! Were they good. It was served with what they called a side salad, which was a plate-filling mound of greens, tomatoes, carrots and cucumber with a lovely side dressing. This is a find. Life is good when you stumble on a surprise and want to go back.More

I had the wild mushroom chile rellenos (2 large), which were out of this world! It came with a side of corn & red pepper & a salad listed as a side salad (it was quite large). Everything was so fresh & delicious. The atmosphere...is absolutely stunning with large windows & terrific southwestern decor. Prices very reasonable. My server, Josiah & server's assistant, Lexi, couldn't have been more friendly & efficient. And to top it off, Chef Stephani came by to ask how everything was...perfect, of course! A wonderful experience all the way around! FYI--dinner is also served on Thursdays & Fridays, opening at 5pm.More

The Fonda del Bosque restaurant at the National Hispanic Cultural Center has reopened under the management of Stefanie Mangrum of City Treats Catering & Parties. She has gone back to a simple, pared down look for the place that highlights the beautiful tin chandeliers and...woodwork that are so lovely. The bar has been resurfaced with handsome blue and white tiles. The restaurant is now open from 9:00 am-11:30 am for pastries and coffee and 11:30 am-2:00 pm for lunch,Tuesday through Saturday. A friend and I had the duck quesadillas which are listed as an appetizer, but served me fine as a meal. She had the delicious green chile chicken soup. We saw a wild mushroom chile relleno platter go by that will be the next meal to try. We thought a review deserved a dessert and shared the churros. The churro was delicious, but I would have liked a heavier chocolate to dip it in.The staff was wonderfully pleasant and helpful. The menu looks like southwestern food with a few classy touches. There are so many fun things to do at the Center and it is great to have the restaurant open again. I also understand that they plan to be open for some dinners along with events at the Center and information on that can be found on the Center's event page. nhccnm.org.More
