Being from Texas, I'm picky about brisket. It was tender and flavorful just as I had expections it would be. The sauce is a little sweet for me but yummy. We ate for a Saturday lunch and the dining room had 8 tables filled. Service was a little slow but they bring homemade yeast rolls while you wait.

Bar-B-Que is a very personal thing. Texans think theirs is superior and that they should have some kind of patent on the process. Memphis is adamant about their dry rub BBQ. Arkansas fits between the two both geographically and gustatorially with their sauces generally having the right blend of sharpness to sweetness. You'd think that New Mexico with its pride... More

I was looking for something great to eat close to my home (NE Heights). We decided to drive through JR's BBQ on Juan Tabo. I was unsure If I needed to have called in my order before going through the drive through because the line was an extremely long wait. I ended up going inside and ordering my take-out instead... I picked up supper at the new JR.s on Juan Tabo since it's close to my house. The brisket was amazing, so tender. The chopped pork was good, but I'm not raving about it. Slaw and potato salad were good and homemade. Servings were large; I had enuf for lunch the next day. It came with two good rolls, not... More

I had the fisherman's platter with fried catfish, fried shrimp, and fried clams. The catfish was cornmeal breaded and fried. Tasted very fresh. The shrimp seemed like it was out of a bag - not breaded in the restaurant, and the clam pieces were tiny - not much flavor. For sides I had potato salad - an excellent mustard based... More

We catered an office party with brisket, turkey and links from JR's. The food was delicious and our guests raved about the food. However, the level of service provided by Howard and Fernando was flawless. The food was ready at the exact time we requested and both of these men couldn't do enough to ensure that we were well prepared... More

Nice service and you can always rely on the food to be good. Nothing outstanding, but fine. The menu is extensive enough to suit almost every taste. Plenty to choose from whatever mood you are on.

The stuffed Jalapenos were very good. The Meat was tender and the portions were generous, but for this St. Louis native the barbecue sauce was very bland. Waitress was courteous and attentive. The place was clean and quiet ( only 3 other couples ) Parking is in the rear of building. A lot of carry-out business while we were there.
