A 'Hoppin' Place!

The only gripe I have about this place is its location. Despite being able to see the sign, it is hard to know where to turn to get into the parking lot. Once I was "wowed" by Nexus - such a great concept with Cajun options. I've eaten there a few times recently and been really disappointed. Sprinkling powdered sugar on hot fried chicken just doesn't make since! I didn't order it with the waffle. The biggest complaint is portion sizing. The slices of sausage in the gumbo were so thin..paper thin.... More

Went around lunch time and the food was great. I had the Cajun burger which was so delicious. The husband had the fried chicken sandwich which I thought was a bit dry but still tasty. The only thing I was not pleased with were the fried pickles. The pickles were so finely sliced that it seemed we were just eating... More

And their IPA is really good. Seasonal beers too. We are hooked on the gumbo, with cornbread waffle to share or boneless fried chicken piece. Usually packed after work. Maybe their new location on the westside will thin out the crowd. Quality beer, food, and super friendly staff. If you haven't tried it yet, you might be the last one... More

We had a guest fly in from California and took them immediately to Nexus. Service was prompt and food delicious! I'm from Georgia, so am particular when it comes to southern food. The chicken and cornmeal waffles were wonderful and the fried fish, mac and cheese and collards were perfect! Planning a return trip soon!

We have been a couple of times but returned with our kids. A little noisy but not uncomfortable. Beers are BEAUTIFUL! Great IPAs. Didn't have great luck with bringing home a growler (got flat in one day and didn't taste the same.) Unusual to find good Southern, soul food in Abq. Okra, gumbo, chicken and waffles, even black eyed pea... More

I was impressed by the menu choice. Kinda of like Cajun meets New Mexico. But, my food was mediocre. The fries were really below average for the menu prices. Had the cajun burger or something like that. Lots of flavor from the bacon and other addons. But the sauce was lame, bun average and like I said the fries..ugh. Had... More

Hello Lonedog, I am very happy that you felt the toppings and burger itself for the Cajun Burger were flavorful. I am, however, really surprised and disappointed that you only considered the bun and fries as mediocre. We really do want to wow you with our food. As for the lights at the bar, I have the dimmer marked so... More

We hadn't been here in a long time. After returning, I wonder why it took us so long. What a delightful place! I have been to many brewpubs. It is difficult to make great beer. It is also very difficult to have a restaurant with great food. Nexus does both extremely well. Wow! I am very impressed. For dinner we... More

We had fried pickles (would have liked them cut a little thicker), fried zucchini (delish), and wings as an appetizer. We also had fried fish (delish), chicken sandwich (yum), pulled pork (delish), and the open faced enchiladas (yummmm). Jamie was an excellent server and had a great personality!!! We will come back on our next visit to Albuquerque!
