I used to eat here all the time. We would constantly eat takeout from at work. Today I got a salad. The salad was so soggy I had to drain it. The chicken had no flavor. I was friends with the son that used to...run the register or his amazing mom. But I dont think Omar's family own it anymore. I was thankful I got hummus as a side order cause that's all that was edible. I dont think I'll be going back again. Very Disappointed!More

Across from the campus at New Mexico U. this quaint middle eastern food stop is well worth multiple visits. You order at the counter and watch the chefs whirl their magic from gyros to mussaka, from greek potato salad to soulvaki and tzatkiki...........the menu is...substantial and so is the food. My gyro was huge. The lamb was a bit overdone/dry but the sauces, tomatoes and lettuce combined for a good sandwich. The Greek Potato salad was reminiscent of same in Tarpon Springs. Costs are very reasonable for the amount of food, allowing you to sample, pick and choose, and try the new. The lady who takes your order is helpful with making your choices. Parking is right outside the restaurant. Seating is done for the protocol and strictly adhered. Bathrooms are clean with hand sanitizer Quite a few students and professor types came by while we were there and took out their pre packaged meals.More

Visiting Albuquerque for business, and decided to have middle eastern food. Hummus, Baba Ganosh, Falafel, Tabulee, and grape leaf. When tasted the food, joy came to my heart. As good as it comes. Sahara is the right place to get your middle eastern delights when...visiting Albuquerque, it is a MUST.More

It is a walk in, order at the counter and get your food when it is made fresh and ready. Want something a little different, or a custom touch... no problem! These guys are the most friendly and accommodating I think I have ever had...the pleasure of running into. The food is really good. The meats are all tender, well-spiced and well-cooked. Super flavorful and very authentic. The portions are very good - you won't leave hungry. And they include a whole bunch of extras on most items. You'll get a chance to try a wide array of menu items with each order plus interesting desserts too. If you like Middle Eastern food, seriously, this is one of the best places in ABQ. Cheap, plentiful and authentic!More

Across the street from the Univ. of New Mexico so many students eat here. It's run by wonderful people that provide generous portions and the variety of dishes from the Middle East and Greece are wonderfully fresh.

This was our weekly lunch of Greek men and we chose this fine establishment because it was highly recommended by others at St George Greek Orthodox Church; The owners are Jordanian but transplanted themselves from NY to Albuquerque! They have an extensive menu consisting of...typical Lebanese, Jordanian, and Greek dishes, all freshly prepared; I had a middle eastern lamb dish that was to die for...! The others had Greek dishes and due to my age I had a pleasant dry red wine to accompany my lunch. Needless-to-say the food was excellent and the conversation was of things we all have in common.More

We ate here last night, as a family of 3 during our Route 66 trip. The food was gorgeous, and the staff friendly. We particularly enjoyed the chicken shawarma plate, but I also loved the rice pudding and Turkish coffee. There is a good selection,...and I only wish we could come back again!More

Sahara was exceptional, authentic and a tasty middle eastern restaurant. A friendly casual environment. I ordered a MEDITERRANEAN GRILL TRIO (MASHAWI PLATE), which came with One skewer of lamb shish kabob, one skewer of chicken tika kabob, and one skewer of kafta kabob. Served with...french fries (replaced with Falafel), hummous and two warm pitas. And, I wasn’t disappointed. Panjabi Ink recommends this restaurant.More

I've had this type of food before, so I was looking forward to a delicious beef and lamb shawarmah sandwich. I couldn't tell the difference between the beef and lamb. Big, thick, chunks of meat that was very tough to bite through and tear apart....Was not "marinated thin slices of tender lamb and beef" per the menu. I've never experienced this before with shawarmah. They also put the pickles inside the sandwich and the very drippy tahini sauce made it really messy. It was not that good, so next time I'll try something else. French fries were good.More
