The corn beef hash and biscuit with chip beef was excellent. Enjoyed the atmosphere of the diner. Wait staff was attentive.

Had breakfast here on the last day of a business trip. Food was better than many diners I've visited, and the staff was prompt and helpful. I had a huge stack of pancakes that were packed with blueberries. A good place to go if you want to avoid chain restaurants and fast food. Really a nice little place. Good coffee.

We read the reviews and had high expectations. Food was very average. We realized it was served so fast, it was not made fresh. I had the Dixie dog which was very bland with a soggy bun. My daughter had the pulled pork sandwich which was dry. The macaroni and cheese was not hot. The highlight of the meal was... More

Food was good and the staff is friendly. Restaurant is clean and nice. I have gone for lunch and it was delicious and go at least once a week. The owner Mr. Charlie is nice and made me feel welcome.

Excellent Breakfast and friendly staff. Get the Grits and Greens! The restaurant is just small enough that it encourages people to converse with each other, but large enough for groups of friends to get together for a meal without feeling crammed in. Historic setting is a plus.

Read that the restaurant has been in business since 1920. Relaxed atmosphere, very good food, excellent service, reasonably priced. Pulled pork sandwich was really good as was the cheesesteak my husband ordered. We usually don't get dessert but couldn't resist the peanut butter pie. So good with a chocolate graham cracker crust, whipped cream and drizzled chocolate......heaven

Probably one of the better places to eat breakfast in Petersburg. Friendly Service. Average Omelet. Very good Home fries.

We have visited the Dixie for years and the food is always a favorite. As a hot dog expert, the Dixie offers a variety of dogs. The junkyard dog is filling and tasteful; my go to dog. The bread pudding is awesome and the daily special my family tried this trip were tasty. My parents have been regulars at the... More

Really good diner for hot dogs and hamburgers. Love the chili! The fries and onion rings are good. The banana pudding is good if it isn't soggy. I love the atmosphere. Service is always friendly.

The Dixie reminds me of the diner in Mayberry on the Andy Griffith show. A lot of the customers are called by name, the waitresses are quick and friendly, and the decor speaks of the 1950's without the juke box. There are always specials on the chalkboard; check them out before ordering. The hamburgers and hot dogs are definitely popular,... More

The Dixie is a landmark breakfast and lunch establishment in the heart of Old Towne Petersburg since the 1920s and in it's current location since 1939. It has seen several owners over the years and remains a local favorite.
We specialize in traditional southern cuisine. Our menu items include our famous Dixie Dog which is a red hot dog with mustard, onions and our tasty chili sauce. We also serve fried Salt Herring, Salmon Croquettes, Meatloaf, Chicken & Dumplings, made from scratch Pimento Cheese, and Chicken Salad. We offer a variety of sandwiches, barbeque, burgers and hot-plate specials that change daily.
