The Dixie is a landmark breakfast and lunch establishment in the heart of Old Towne Petersburg since the 1920s and in it's current location since 1939. It has seen several owners over the years and remains a local favorite.
We specialize in traditional southern cuisine. Our menu items include our famous Dixie Dog which is a red hot dog with mustard, onions and our tasty chili sauce. We also serve fried Salt Herring, Salmon Croquettes, Meatloaf, Chicken & Dumplings, made from scratch Pimento Cheese, and Chicken Salad. We offer a variety of sandwiches, barbeque, burgers and hot-plate specials that change daily.

Another hidden gem in downtown Petersburg. Dixie has been around for many years. We love it for their breakfast and lunch. Multiple menu options for breakfas and lunch both. Smaller diner atomosphere. They do get busy so arrive early to receive immediate seating. Don't miss this one when visiting this fine Historic City.

We stopped by here on our summer "food and history" tour; based on reviews here we went off our path to try this out and we weren't disappointed! If you are anywhere near do yourself a favor and take a step back in time to enjoy the food, service and atmosphere offered here. We tried the chicken n dumps, cheeseburger,... More

We've been eating at The Dixie for years! Great diner style food, and home-cooked daily specials. Located right in the heart of Olde Town, and within walking distance to many shop and historical sites.

Diner's usually don't get a 5 but I love this place. So old school. Ate lunch and breakfast there. I enjoyed the bean soup; it was very good. I tried a hot dog with chili and pimento cheese (how do you not try that when it is on the menu???). It was good. My wife had the chicken and dumplings.... More

When I moved to Petesburg in 1986 the gentleman who sold me my home wanted to take me out for lunch. He took me to the Dixie for lunch and we had to wait outside for a seat. Court was in session and all the lawyers filled the Dixie. (The food was worth the wait) The Dixie is famous for... More

Searching for a good breakfast? The come by this place. Went in with the family for a Saturday morning breakfast. Friendly atmosphere and small town charm. Jennifer, our server was very friendly and as it was our first time offered suggestions. My wife got the hotcakes, my daughter got the French Toast, and I got "The Haynie" (scrapple, and eggs).... Nothing fancy, nothing special but just down home cooking! Don't recommend the coffee though -- not so good ...powdered cream. That being said, the place is very clean - has a local flavor and very friendly. Usually hard to find a seat between 12 and 1 as the working locals are there. Southern friendly and close (walking distance) to the... More

This is a very pleasant and popular local diner where service is quick, people are friendly, food tastes great, and prices are very reasonable.. It has operated for decades and has always been a popular luncheon place for local business people seeking a good meal for a reasonable price in a short amount of time..
