The Dixie reminds me of the diner in Mayberry on the Andy Griffith show. A lot of the customers are called by name, the waitresses are quick and friendly, and the decor speaks of the 1950's without the juke box. There are always specials on the chalkboard; check them out before ordering. The hamburgers and hot dogs are definitely popular,... More

Come here. Eat. Relax. Enjoy :) Lovely old town diner with friendly service and classic but extensive menu. Here for lunch? Get one of the flat top grilled hotdogs! We love it!

Good diner fare. The sides were probably the best thing there. Came for lunch. Ordered burgers, navy bean soup, beer battered cod, and a BLT. All were good. The cod seemed ready-made and not fresh but was decent. Best item by far was side of green beans. Disappointed that they were out of banana pudding. Would have liked have tried... More

Diner in Olde Towne Petersburg. This Diner has been around since 1939. We had Liver and Onions and an Egg salad Sandwich as well as fried Pickle spears. The staff her all of them are so attentive and friendly. The staff works together to help customers feel so welcome and satisfied. The atmosphere inside is old style with old photos... More

Stopped here for breakfast on the way to Myrtle Beach. The staff was very welcoming of our large party(2 adults, 6 kids) and allowed the kids to create "The Great Wall of Creamer." The food was really good. From the chipped beef and biscuits to the waffle with stewed apples. We enjoyed the atmosphere so much, we stopped for lunch... More

It was mid Friday morning and we were seated quickly. They brought us drink quickly but failed to keep them full. They were served in juice glasses which is fine if I would have ordered juice. The service was mediocre the food was good. When asked if I wanted a refill I removed my straw so she could take my... More

Dixie serves home cooked meals as well as hot dogs and other sandwiches. The Dixie dog is my favorite. They have a special burger named after Abe Lincoln. It is a burger Steven Spielberg had when he was in Petersburg filming my the movie Lincoln.

Went to this restaurant for lunch based on Trip Advisor reviews. It was easy to find. There were several options on the menu plus there were several additional specials. Four out of five of us ordered the cod special. I chose green beans and mac salad for my sides. All was very good. Prices were very reasonable and service was... More

Description
The Dixie is a landmark breakfast and lunch establishment in the heart of Old Towne Petersburg since the 1920s and in it's current location since 1939. It has seen several owners over the years and remains a local favorite.
We specialize in traditional southern cuisine. Our menu items include our famous Dixie Dog which is a red hot dog with mustard, onions and our tasty chili sauce. We also serve fried Salt Herring, Salmon Croquettes, Meatloaf, Chicken & Dumplings, made from scratch Pimento Cheese, and Chicken Salad. We offer a variety of sandwiches, barbeque, burgers and hot-plate specials that change daily.
