We'd read the TA reviews, and this place was just down the road for us, so thought we'd give it a try. Live music, a lively atmosphere...and Great Food. Wait staff was a bit slow, but most friendly. We each had a beer. They had a decent selection, and an ample wine and bar menu. It was difficult to choose... More

We stopped in while on a fishing trip just before Christmas. It is a nice casual bar/restaurant. Live music when we were there was a guy singing with his guitar - nit an overpowering band or anything like that. The food was so good, we came back the next night! The ribeye was cooked to perfection, the flounder was in... More

The night we were there it was packed and there was live music. The food and drinks were delicious. We sat right in front of the music so a bit loud. We were able to call ahead- no actual reservation but when we showed up our name was put at the top of the list- which is best thing to... More

Happy Hour is definitely the time to go. It is from 3-7 everyday. Half price appetizers, sushi and drink specials. The food was outstanding. We are there twice. First was super busy and crowded but the food came in a reasonable time and the service was great. I would have given 5 stars but the seating is awful and uncomfortable.... More

Scuttlebutt's has the best fried fish, shrimp, and oysters in the city and a solid variety of drinks. The sushi is good, just not on par with other sushi restaurants in the city. Come during an off hour to be seated promptly, as the place can get packed.

Before I say a lot: DON'T ORDER THE DINNER SALAD!! It is not worth $7. You get a small plate of lettuce and spinach with a few cucumbers and tomatoes in it. That's it! No cheese or bread crumbs or anything else and they charge $7. Even the employees agree the customers are jipped and over charged for the side... More

Our first night in PA and out gps said this was the nearest restaurant. A noisy but lively place that was very busy on a Thursday night, a good sign. I had flounder w two sides and my wife had soft shell crab sandwich. Both were very good. Service was great and attentive. A singer/guitar player started about 7 pm,... More

Yesterday we had or office staff Christmas party here. We only came here because of the water issue in town causing many restaurants to close. I told my boss this place is substandard but the others wanted to go. We were seated at 1pm and our waiter finally came to the table at 1:15pm He took drink orders. Margaritas were... More

This place has fantastic seafood, great service and a really nice atmosphere. The live music is good and not so loud that you can't hear to talk. The coconut shrimp were huge and delicious. This is the best seafood either of us have had in South Texas!

Description
The number one question asked is “What does Scuttlebutt’s mean?” Well, we answer, The original context came from two nautical terms; the “butt” (picture a wooden keg) was a wooden cask that stored the fresh water when sailors were at sea. The “scuttle” was the area of the ship where the “butt” was stored. When it was break time, the sailors would gather at the “Scuttle Butt” and drink. This also became a social time, as they could all meet and talk. Now over the years the words joined together and became “scuttlebutt”. This word was used when people would gather together, typically at the office water fountain, and ask one another, “Hey, what’s the scuttlebutt with Jim in accounting?”

Here is the official definition according to Meriam Webster;

1a : a cask on shipboard to contain freshwater for a day's use

2b: a drinking fountain on a ship or at a naval or marine installation

2: rumor, gossip.

Now that you know what Scuttlebutt’s means, this is what we are about! Scuttlebutt’s is a full service restaurant and bar that truly is a place where everyone, from babies to baby-boomers, can get together and have a great time! Our menu is as equally diverse, with grilled peanut butter, banana and honey sandwiches, hand-cut rib eye steaks, oysters on the half shell and one of the best sushi bars around. Our premium craft beer wall and wine selection is top rated, and make sure to try our house made sangria or our signature Scuttlebutt’s punch. We are a scratch kitchen and our day starts in the wee-early mornings when the hard-working prep team arrives to bust out our house recipes. Another appeal to Scuttlebutt’s is that we offer Happy Hour every day (Yes, week-ends too!) from 3pm-7pm and we have live music every night (Yes, really, every night – unless the Dallas Cowboys are playing). We can easily accommodate larger groups as well as be the perfect spot for date night, which has turned into a marriage proposal on more than one occasion. Call ahead seating is available and we can help plan a perfect office party or celebration with custom menu options. Come visit us and become part of our Scuttle Family!
