This is my sister's go to soul food spot. She said that their salmon cakes were better than mine so I had to try. I thought they were just ok. What got me were the yams. My gosh! Hands down...the best I've ever had! Also, thought I prefer mine with lemon flavor, their sweet potato pie was also good.

If you are looking for the taste of real southern cooking, you will not go wrong at this place. I always go on Sundays after the church crowd. My dish is the fried fish and any sides. Although the corn and cabbage is a killer combo for me. We always fall for the sweet potato pie. Its a must try

Henry's Soul Cafe is a crowded neighborhood cafe. The food is delicious. The dress code is casual. The specialties are the fried fish and the sweet potato pie. The side dishes are made on the premises. This is truly down home southern cooking. I am talking about potato salad, cole slaw and macaroni and cheese. I frequently stop in on... More

I pass by this location everyday on my way home from work. The food sometimes calls to me so I have to stop. LOL!! We have only dined in once as we get our food to go.I have been going to the U St. location in DC since the 80's. They make the best sweet potato pie....move over Patty's pies.... More

Don't ever let anyone tell you that you can't get great soul food in the north! This place is a slice of southern states sitting right between Maryland and DC. The smothered pork chops are so good you will find yourself sucking on the bone. The sweet potatoes are just like your grandma would make at Thanksgiving and the peach... More
