Delicious every time! I chose the pablano mole over chicken served w rice & beans. The mole was a bit sweet w banana undertones, but my plate was clean when I left :-) I also enjoyed a refreshing mojito. The chips and salsa were great....Travel tip: the Trex light rail stop is 1 block away; $2.50 green line to the airport. They also offer food to-go ordersMore

We went to the original Red Iguana in the small yellow building. I ordered a cheese enchilada, taco, chile relleno plate. The waitress asked what kind of taco and I said, chicken. When the meal came I got a beef taco, a tasty chile relleno...and a chicken enchilada when I was expecting cheese. Very disappointing. I tasted the chicken enchilada and it was extremely dry. When I told the server the order was wrong nothing was done. No discount, no free meal, no offer to fix it. The only good part was the salsa and chips. The employees didn't know what they were doing or the cost of anything. When I got to my hotel I had the worse stomach ache. Would I eat here again? Probably not.More

There is a reason why this is one of the top restaurants in SLC. The outside doesn’t look like much but the food is fantastic! Our server, Rodrigo, was very friendly and attentive. He replenished our drinks before we needed to ask. Everyone loved what...they ordered, even the kids. My son loved his quesadillas. I thought my enchilada suizas were tasty. I highly recommend this restaurant for excellent Mexican food. I would definitely return if/when I am in the area again.More

As always, the food was great, however, service today was awful. Our chips and salsa were delivered promptly. It went down hill from there. We ordered Ramon Jr Caddie margaritas. Rocks, No salt. We were finally served Salted margaritas. Lots of salt. Sent them back....We were then served very salty drinks. Obviously the servers merely poured the salted ones into a new glass. The purpose of ordering this particular drink is the Grand Marnier floater which is supposed to be on the top of the drink not the bottom. All the salt ruined the drink. Everything we asked the server included quite a long wait for it to happen. What should have been a relaxing enjoyable lunch was anything but. This was our third visit there this week. It will be our last.More

Oh my! This was so good. Great food. Great staff. Quick service once you get inside. We went on a Monday night at 5 pm. 45 minute wait outside. They brought out small bottles of icy cold water. Once inside and seated, your server is...right there and the food arrives quickly. Fresh guacamole was to die for. The portions are huge, so split an entree or take half home. Either way, you cannot go wrong! I had the Quesadilla San Francisco. The steak bites were so tender. It was seasoned perfectly. I don't remember what my husband had, but he ate every bite! This place is a do not miss! The only thing missing was the ability to sit at the bar and have a drink while you wait. Their location two blocks away has the ability to accommodate that, so if that is important to you, go to the second location.More

We drove here straight from the airport - what a great way to start a Utah vacation! The place was cool, welcoming, and not too busy (we arrived just after opening) The regular tortilla chips were terrific, but the flour tortilla chips, specially seasoned, came...alongside the guac and were truly spectacular! Love this place!More

We had reservations at Red Iguana but were undecided by the large menu and options. Marjorie, our server, gave us recommendations on both drinks and menu items. Everything was delicious! The moles were amazing and everything was fresh and wonderful! Great meal at a great...price! Would highly recommend! Good idea to make reservations because we got seated immediately. Will go again next time we are in Salt Lake City.More

Decent price, good quantity, very good food ingredients. Short trip. Liked it so much we went twice. Chicken burritos more like chicken enchilada but great taste. Would happily go back. :) Don

I read about the Red Iguana in various travel books and websites and all I hoped was for it to live up to the hype. Did it? It sure did. Let me begin… I visited with three others and had to wait about an hour...on a Sunday around lunchtime. Once seated, we were served chips and salsa. We ordered queso as an appetizer and it was delicious. At this point we basically stopped counting calories. Choosing an entree was difficult but I settled on the Mole Poblano enchiladas. The dish was a 6 out of 5. Best mole I’ve EVER had (even to those I’ve had in Mexico). It was on the sweeter side which I loved and nothing like the moles I’ve tried before. To drink I stuck with the horchata, which was okay. Overall, I’d go back to the Red Iguana in a heartbeat. Just know that you probably shouldn’t eat a day before visiting because you’ll want to eat everything on the menu.More

I don’t know what it is about Salt Lake City. One of the best Italian (Valter’s) that I’ve ever had and now one of the best Mexican meals I’ve ever had (and certainly the best mole). This place is ridiculously good. From the perfect margs...to the excellent guac. My spouse had the tampequena steak and couldn't stop raving about it. Even the sopapillas were awesome. But the mole. If you love mole as I do, you have to try it here. Best I've ever had.More

We had just come to the end of our week long trip at Yellowstone and the grand Tetons. Our flight left out of Salt Lake City so after reading reviews we decided to check out The Red Iguana. The food was good but the reason...for the 3 stars was the service. First be prepared to wait at least 40 mins to be let in. You have to wait outside the building. Once inside, I felt like the waitress clocked us as tourists from the moment we sat down. When ordering my meal which was three tacos, she said “rice and beans?” To which I replied yes thinking it was included- wrong! There was a $2.50 extra charge for rice and beans for both myself and husband. Additionally, upon looking at the bill we noticed an alcohol tax of $4 for my $4 beer. I knew the liquor laws were a little different in SLC but wasn’t aware of the tax charge. Felt really bad for the couple next to us who was unknowingly ordering margaritas after margaritas. They provide free chips and salsa with your meal but the salsa was very spicy to which the waitress said it was probably the pepper used that day. Appetizer size guacamole was enough for a tribe- you’re better off ordering a side of guacamole which was plenty for two people. Again our waitress did not explain this to us, so jokes on us we ended up spending around $14 on guac that we couldn’t even come close to finishing. All in all food is good but just keep these things in mind when going there and learn from our mistakes!More

Oh, man! This was soo good. We were seated in this unique cubby that made it cozy for a quiet dinner for two. The server brought all the different types of mole out to let us sample them. We also tried the Chile con Queso....We had the Mole Coloradito and Iguana Plate for dinner, and both were outstanding. For dessert we had tres leches. Our server, Alyssa, was just the best, too. I have absolutely no negatives about Red Iguana.More

We went to supper as a family. We made reservations and the table was ready upon our arrival. We started with guacamole and it was great and the portion was huge! I had the red iguana combo platter, it was great, (huge) another at the...table had the fish tacos with mahi mahi. It was good but my table mate said she probably wouldn't order it again. The other order was mole negra...it was awesome!! The service is top shelf and the food was great...More

I had the Mole Negro which was incredible, my partner had the Mole Coloradito which was also very good. Wished I lived closer...to Salt Lake City, I would be a weekly regular at the Red IguanaMore
