Had a quick lunch here since it's close to the hotel. Food came fast...oddly fast. The refried beans were burned to the plate around the edges, suggests microwaved to me. Won't be back.

It has been many years since we have visited but I am happy I returned. The location is a bit of a rough neighborhood but don't let that dissuade you. Tasty bean dip appetizer.

We ate here twice during our stay. The food and staff were awesome. Very large portions of food. Some of the best salsa we've ever eaten. Yes, if we're ever back in Salt Lake City we will eat here again.

I had a cheese enchilada, which was massive--really too much, and not very tasty. A combo platter with smaller portions would have been more pleasing, but there is not much choice. The neon Rio Grande sign (indoors) is cute. but that does not offset the need for a serious upgrade to the interior. Considering the so-so food, tired interior, and... More

Sadly the food is very bland. They need to spice it up. Salsa was horrible. Very little flavor. I had the chicken taco and chicken tostado combination. I first though ok a step up from taco bel but no flavor. I guess we could have asked for more salsa to pour over it but since we didn't like the salsa... More

Had the chicken fajita plate. Chicken was over cooked, tasteless and there wasn'the very much of it. The few onions I could find were cooked to oblivion and the mountain of peppers were raw. Our server, on the other hand , was great.

Great place to enjoy lunch while exploring the old Rio Grande RR depot and now converted to Utah Museum. Food was excellent and atmosphere surrounded by memorabilia of when part of Rio Grande RR . Service was exceptional and friendly, had a great selection on juke box!!! Worth a visit !

I have eaten at the Rio Grande regularly for the past 20 years and I still love it! My favorite dish is the Flauta Grande with Carnita meat. My husband loves the Rio Grande enchilada. We often take our 4 young kids with us and it is less expensive than most fast-casual places for a family. The Lime Rio drink... More

Had this place suggested to our group. We had a little wait and then were seated. We had a brand new waitress, who was amazing! She was super friendly; but her trainer was not. Our waitress brought out a wrong order and then her trainer hovered and was rude and said she didn't know what she was doing because she... More

The Rio Grand Cafe has been our family favorite for decades! The atmosphere and friendly staff make it a great restaurant, but the incredible food is what keeps us coming back. We plough through bowls of salsa every time we go (we used to carry it with us on the plane back to Boston!) and the cheese they use is... More
