OMF. It was such a wonderful experience. It was recommended by a friend and it is the top Italian restaurant.. if you can ask for Mr. JEM and Ms. CLAUDIA. We had Jem as our server and everything he suggested was topnotch. Every appetizers and...entrée was delicious. Claudia was so attentive if and when we needed anything. We never had to ask for anything. The entire staff throughout had such a synchronize service and presentation. The food was plated in front of us with a great explanation. Food was delicious and the menu is very creative. The most soft bread was served with blended Garlic Caper Olive oil. Yummm. Oh and do do do ask for the GELATO. You would want that.. I saw almost every table order one. JEM made the best presentation when serving us the Gelato. I had the best experience. Would definitely recommend. Thank you Jem and thank you ClaudiaMore

Took me a couple tries to get a reservation, as it is very popular....and for good reason. So glad I persevered, as my daughter and I loved it. Took a girlfriend and she was thrilled. Have ordered take-out and it is great, but miss the...dining room. The ambience is fantastic, the service is incredible, and the food is wonderful. Can't wait until the Covid restrictions are lifted and I can enjoy dining-in and seeing Valter roaming the room. Highly recommend.More

This restaurant is run like a classic 5 star restaurant. Staff levels are high; there is always someone nearby to assist and everyone is attentive. Our server offered us a glass of wine from the selection of bottled wines when the selections by the glass...were not adequate. The maitre d' checked in with us - a rarity, these days. The bread arrived warm, as it should, but it was the thin, crispy crust undistinguished white bread. It was served with a bitter anchovy and oil concoction that I asked to be removed from the table. The simple green salad was excellent. My wife's scoglio di mare: the taste of the seafood was overpowered by the tomato sauce. I ordered the osso bucco special and the wait staff seemed genuinely excited by my choice. Unfortunately, I have had better (in Oklahoma City). True, the meat was falling-off-the-bone-tender but the meat was also a little dry on the palate. The sauce had minimal taste and was not balanced well. The tiramisu was good but I would want a little more marsala in the zuppe inglese and a little more espresso in the ladyfingers. For a comfortable haute cuisine experience, the wait staff of this establishment carry the day. Unfortunately, I am assuming that the clientele cannot hold the kitchen to high standards either because they are transients or the regulars have just not been exposed to balanced, expert cuisine. Also, the prices of the menu cannot be justified by what comes out of the kitchen. We are fortunate to be able, on occasion, to select whatever we want from a menu without regard to cost. But, as an example, paying seventy five dollars for a plate of simple cacio e pepe (that contains four cheeses (!) instead of the traditional pecorino romano) borders upon disgusting. Also, the liquor prices are quite high, but that is where a restaurant makes its profit and there is the large front room staff to consider. By all means eat here for a great experience or get-together, but scale down your gourmandise expectations.More

The service was outstanding. Love the atmosphere, but the food was hit and miss. We started with their specialty virgin drink. It was good but too sweet for our tastes. Then we had the tossed caesars salad, made table-side. This was the highlight of our...meal. I would go back just for it - and certainly will. It was off the charts amazing but you better love garlic, as we do.My only issue was he made a whole bowl full, piled our plates, then threw out the rest. We would have loved him to leave the leftover. It really is very very good. But on to dinner. We tried the four pasta sampler. Some was good, some not so good but again - too sweet for the most part. Was surprised that what they offer as a sampler did not represent their best effort. I had Carbonara. Having lived in Italy I have high standards for this favorite but it didn't even meet a marginal level. It was just not very good. There was little flavor, and the sauce was watery and just not appetizing. Sorry. Ate very little of it. My wife had a chicken specialty and it was pretty good but not something we would order again. I will mention that they bring out delicious bread and an amazing dip that you could just drink. But once again, you better love garlic. Given the amazing reviews we went with high expectations and felt very let down. We had a fun time but wish someone could have told us what to order, other than the waiter. For the high price we were certainly disappointed.More

My wife and I came because we had heard great things about Valters and wanted find out for ourselves and to celebrate her birthday. Kamel was our waiter. My wife had the Penne Allarrabb and I had the Pasta Al Forno. Both were superb. To...finish our meal we had Tiramisu. An excellent meal. An excellent staff. An excellent waiter. Thank you!More

This place is the premier restaurant for Italian, in Salt Lake. The food, the wine, the service, all remarkable. My wife and I had Kamel as our server. After understanding what we enjoy, he guided us to the best options on the menu. Cannot recommend...the pasta sampler enough: The raviolis were life changing. For the second course, their lasagna was extremely robust. The short rib w/ risotto was the highlight of the meal. And don't forget the wine. The Borgo Morlino was an amazing white to start the meal and the Colosi Rossi was a great pairing for the short rib. Thank you to Kamel and the whole Valter's staff. It was an incredible evening!More

First off, Kamel was our waiter and what an amazing one at that. Charming, accommodating to my food allergy BEYOND what any other restaurant has EVER done, and just a delight to interact with through our meal. Secondly, the food was outstanding. The bread and...dipping sauce— I could drink that sauce, dude. The Caesar salad was made table side by hand— GOOD lord that was delicious. Our dinners were phenomenal and DON’T even get me started on the lemon gelato! I don’t even like frozen deserts, but that lemon gelato with fresh lemon, honey, and salt... that was the best dessert I’ve ever had. We even got to say hello to Valter via video chat. Not only will I be returning, I’m bringing every person who loves food with me.More

I’m disappointed at having to leave a negative review. We’ve eaten at Valter’s four times over the last year and each time we had a good experience. I recently tried to make reservations for dinner. I left three voicemails over a three day period. No...one returned my call. I called again and finally reached someone on the phone and made a reservation for a Friday night two weeks out. Great. Five minutes later I received a call back from Valter’s indicating that they could not accommodate me (without explanation) for the time that they previously committed to. I was told they were not taking reservations between the hours of 6:15-7:30 pm. I’m not sure if they were saving this timeframe for walk-ins? Needless to say I was not pleased with them canceling the reservation immediately after accepting it. They offered seating either very early or much later but neither were convenient for our plans that evening. I told them about the issue of having three voicemails earlier in the week that were not returned. They blamed it on the “high winds” earlier this week. I’m not sure how that would affect their phones, but okay, I’ll give them a pass. One would have thought, given their mistake, that they would have honored their commitment. Not only were we looking forward to a good dinner at Valter’s, we also wanted to support local restaurants who have suffered loss of revenue during C19. I’m not sure the reason why Valter’s has become so disorganized that they can’t return phone calls, make (and keep) a simple reservation, or provide basic customer service after they’ve failed to provide it (multiple times). Although the food is good, the food is very over-priced. Reluctantly, we will not be returning to Valter’s.More

Valters is an amazing Italian restaurant. I had the butternut squash ravioli and it just melted in your mouth. It took me back to my travels to Italy. Thank you Arturo, Gish, Luz and Isabella for the amazing service!!!
