A great place for breakfast/brunch! We both enjoyed our meals very much. The pancakes aren't called "Heavenly Hotcakes" for nothing! What a great recipe! I had the Chicken Cordon Bleu and it was fantastic! Unique and yummy. I can't wait to go back again.

Absolutely wonderful!! The reviews are completely accurate! Family run little place, with a friendly staff. The owner walks around, and ensures quality. They were happy to do some mild changes to the items we wanted to accommodate our diet.

It was a cute little dive-ish type diner. We were told the wait would be 30 minutes but it was closer to 5 minutes. There was a nice area to wait so you were out of the way. Got to sit at the counter which...More

We like to eat outside on the patio it's kind of noisy and crowded on the inside. The food is always good and there's a lot of it and it's not very expensive

Corned beef was bland and lukewarm. Waitress never bothered to see how things were after serving us. Not offered coffee refill until she finally brought a check. Pancakes were ok at best. Flies were very present. So with food being just ok at very best...More

Had a nice breakfast here. The hotcakes are light and fluffy. Omelette was great and the Pot O Gold is complete and filling. The sliced potatoes are really good. Service was friendly. Prices are ok. Our only complaint is the number of flies in the...More

I'm in SLC for the weekend and wanted a place with good reviews for brunch. And open on a Sunday. Many restaurants and shops are closed on Sundays here. There was a waitlist I was able to sign up for, which texts you for alerts....More

You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Omelettes, pancakes, burritos, it's all delicious. Very crowed, especially on weekends and very informal. They also have a patio so you can eat outside. Breakfast is usually about $10 per person.

Description
Winner Best of State Best Breakfast, Penny Ann's Cafe is a family affair. The restaurant's namesake, Penny Ann, and her sister, Cindy, can often be found seating patrons, serving tables or chatting pleasantly with the restaurant's regular customers. Penny's brother Warren is the executive Chef and brother Paul is behind the scenes helping with day to day operations. Wayne and Jane, the parents of the bunch, can often be seen around too helping with all aspects of the business. There are also many nieces and nephews who help cook, prep, serve and bus tables as well as the outstanding staff who feel like family. Originally from upstate New York, the Willey family prides itself on creating the east coast diner family atmosphere where guests can feel comfortable, and relax while they indulge in homemade comfort food. Not only is the atmosphere comfortable and inviting, the food is top notch. For the second year in a row, Penny Ann's Café was the winner of the Best of State award for Best Breakfast. They are known as the Home of the "Heavenly Hot Cakes", and the pancakes are a fantastic place to start when trying to decide on something from the menu. heavenly-hot-cakesHead chef Warren Willey has been a chef for many years, and his experience translates into his down-home cooking. Originally from New York, Warren was a chef there before coming to Utah. After the move, he was a chef at Park City's Westgate Grill for 10 years before the family decided to open Penny Ann's. In June of 2011, Penny Ann's opened its doors in downtown Salt Lake City, and had almost instant popularity. After three years in the downtown site, the family decided to open another location and opened in Draper in December of 2014 and are looking at future expansion in the coming months and years.
