I was here this past weekend, recommended by some friends. Overall, it's a great place. Loved the vibe. Copper ceilings, a fun bar scene, good food and great service. My friend and I had the griddled cauliflower to start - a huge chunk of cauliflower griddled with breadcrums, capers, etc - delicious. I had the pork and my friend had... More

This is clearly the cool (hot?) spot in SLC. I sat at the bar & watched the kitchen work – these are pros and the food they’re turning out is testimony. I had delicious split pea soup and one of the best Romaine salads I’ve ever had – perfect greens, crunchy bits on top, and they aced the anchovy dressing.... More

Came here for the first time during lunch. I was intrigued by the varied menu choices which didn't fit in a box. The cooking is excellent and fresh though portions are on the smaller side. Sometimes quality trumps quantity. I ordered a salad which was good though not memorable. On the other hand I had the pasta carbonara which was... More

A foodie's dream! I loved everything here. I had the duck and it was out of this world. My husband ordered the Wagyu Beef Stroganoff and that was excellent too! Our waitstaff was very helpful and on top of everything. Probably my new favorite place to eat!

The server suggested we try the beef stroganoff and said we would not be disappointed. He was 100% correct. The portion was smaller than I expected but in the end was just right. Home made noodles. Not too much sauce and the beef is absolutely the best. Had the potato appetizer with chili paprika sauces as well as beef marrow.... More

My wife had heard rave reviews about this place. We are very adventurous eaters and are always looking for an adventure. I tried the Wagyu Beef Stroganof. It was only okay. The portion was very small and it would land somewhere in the middle of all stroganof I have had. Wife had the puttanesca, and again they tried to make... More

My colleagues and I ate here during a lunch break from a conference we were attending next door. They were very accommodating, and opened up their bar for counter service to accommodate our group in an otherwise full restaurant. The menu is meat-heavy with limited vegetarian options, but the selections I made were truly delicious. I had a plate of... More

I bring my family here pretty frequently for a quick nice bite to eat and its almost always amazing, but recently our last visit here wasn't on par. The food was great but the restaurant was too busy for their own good, so i might recommend coming here on the week days. But the lamb riblets are always amazing and... More

New Years Eve celebration for wife and self. Greeted by enthusiastic host and seated in at a perfect table. Justin, our server was knowledgeable, spot on timely and very pleasant. Food selection was great for vegetarian, gluten free couple and every item that we ordered was prepared to our liking. One exception was the saltiness of the lentil app -... More

The chef has created some very good dishes here. The specials are always recommended. Summer time it has a small outdoor patio, but faces a busy street. The food and service are very good and has a casual atmosphere. A new bar has made it a larger place to seat more people if you do not have a reservation.

Description
The Copper Onion is one of the new additions to the growing Utah foodie scene. Former NYC chef (and native Utahan) Ryan Lowder now brings his personal take on New American cuisine to his own kitchen with an approach inspired by his passion for Utah’s outstanding farmstead ingredients and his experience as a chef cooking his way through Barcelona, NYC and South America. The Copper Onion serves a wide array of vegetable side dishes and a menu designed to explore and share, with plates such as Ricotta dumplings with lemon, sage and brown butter and Braised Pork Belly with shaved Brussels sprouts and pickled celeriac. Entrees include Fresh house-made papparedelle with lamb ragout and Duck Confit with butternut squash and roasted mushroom caps. An insistent focus on the freshest and best is paramount; sausages and burgers are ground daily, bread is baked and ice cream is made in house, offering casual diners an exceptional experience at affordable prices.
