Oh I love the Copper Onion. The food is fabulous. The staff is professional, trained well and friendly and all in all one of my very favorites in all of Salt Lake. The salads are especially fresh and organic. The soups are always fabulous. I am sure there is a first rate chef back in the kitchen. If not, they... More

I have been to the Copper Onion several times and although I have sometimes had something quite tasty, I've almost always been disappointed too. There are very few gluten-free options and little effort to make other accommodations or substitutions. My understanding is that the gluteny dishes are tasty but I wouldn't know. The problem, though, is that the napkins are... More

The restaurant would have received five stars, but the noise level was deafening! Granted, it was packed with diners, but some effort toward sound dampening would be appreciated! I had to shout across a small table to be heard. Not very romantic, for sure. The food was excellent. Two shared items, mushrooms and Brussels sprouts, although delicious, were very salty.... More

Visited this restaurant for lunch with a colleague during Supercomputing 2016. The restaurant has an interesting range of items, including Cacio e Pepe, which I hadn't ever seen outside of Rome. Excellent food, excellent service. Asked for bread, gave us soe wonderful fried bread. Definitely go!

We found this place on Yelp reviews and decided to visit on Sunday. Parking was free on Sunday by the meter. It is right next door to Copper Common, don't confused the two. This one is Copper Onion. We didn't have reservations but they were able to seat us. As we ordered and ate we noticed more people were coming.... More

Copper Onion has been a favorite of ours ever since it opened. Located right next door to the Broadway Theatre that shows "art house cinema," it is perfect for a pre or post movie dinner. (The restaurant also serves lunch and brunch on on weekends.) My husband and I love the small plates concept which makes for lots of variety.... More

Small restaurant with some bistro style seating (tightly spaced small tables) and it’s a little noisy. Beef stroganoff and steak with fries were both excellent and we remember them fondly still. Menu is short so check it out online before you go to make sure you will like it. Service was good and ambiance friendly. We went casual in shorts... More

Very long wait in a limited area. Very noisy. Tables close together. Food good. Service good. A movie theater next door for convenient early show. Street or terrace parking.

Excellent food, prepared in front of you when you sit at the bar. Very popular, reservations recommended, reasonable prices for excellent entrees and some good wines.

Description
The Copper Onion is one of the new additions to the growing Utah foodie scene. Former NYC chef (and native Utahan) Ryan Lowder now brings his personal take on New American cuisine to his own kitchen with an approach inspired by his passion for Utah’s outstanding farmstead ingredients and his experience as a chef cooking his way through Barcelona, NYC and South America. The Copper Onion serves a wide array of vegetable side dishes and a menu designed to explore and share, with plates such as Ricotta dumplings with lemon, sage and brown butter and Braised Pork Belly with shaved Brussels sprouts and pickled celeriac. Entrees include Fresh house-made papparedelle with lamb ragout and Duck Confit with butternut squash and roasted mushroom caps. An insistent focus on the freshest and best is paramount; sausages and burgers are ground daily, bread is baked and ice cream is made in house, offering casual diners an exceptional experience at affordable prices.
