Description: The Copper Onion is one of the new additions to the growing Utah foodie...
The Copper Onion is one of the new additions to the growing Utah foodie scene. Former NYC chef (and native Utahan) Ryan Lowder now brings his personal take on New American cuisine to his own kitchen with an approach inspired by his passion for Utah’s outstanding farmstead ingredients and his experience as a chef cooking his way through Barcelona, NYC and South America. The Copper Onion serves a wide array of vegetable side dishes and a menu designed to explore and share, with plates such as Ricotta dumplings with lemon, sage and brown butter and Braised Pork Belly with shaved Brussels sprouts and pickled celeriac. Entrees include Fresh house-made papparedelle with lamb ragout and Duck Confit with butternut squash and roasted mushroom caps. An insistent focus on the freshest and best is paramount; sausages and burgers are ground daily, bread is baked and ice cream is made in house, offering casual diners an exceptional experience at affordable prices.

Following a Sundance film we went to this restaurant because it was next to the theater. It was a little cramped for room with tables very close together. Our meals were good, but not great for the price. My wife and I had pasta dishes and at least the portions were manageable so there was nothing to take home. Service... More

The Copper Onion is another surprising Salt Lake City restaurant. The food was the good surprise. The fact I needed to go next door to their Copper Common for a pre dinner drink at a bar was the bad surprise. However, Utah's drinking laws are what they are. At least the incomprehensible laws foster creativity. The menu is an eclectic... More

Had dinner here with 10 colleagues as it was recommended to us. The atmosphere is really nice in there and the smells are wonderful! My meal was absolutely delicious but a dew of my colleagues had to send back steaks as they were not cooked as they had asked for. another colleague had a burger which was a bit cold... More

The Copper Onion is a fantastic bistro in downtown SLC. Their food is delicious - but go there expecting well-made, quality ingredient comfort food - this isn't the place for a salad! The beef stroganoff is amazing, all pasta dishes are superb, and the appetizers are fantastic. Very good wine list, and the bartender made a pretty good gimlet too.... More

After reading the reviews I booked a table for 12 colleagues, including management from across the globe and Utah. Sadly we were let down. We waited an hour just to place our order and when the food came it was average. One person had to send their steak back twice because it was not cooked as per his request (medium/well... More

On recommendation of Tripadvisor, we made reservations for dinner on a Sunday evening. Reservations are highly recommended as the place is very busy. We were seated immediately and out server Jove was quickly at our table recommending drinks. I had the Rusty Bullet to drink and special that evening the snake river farms wagyu steak with spaetzle, fried kale and... More

It's my favorite downtown location for all things delicious. Brunch, lunch, dinner and cocktails. Hot spot, perfect location next to indie movie theater, parking next door, best cocktails, spot on service, food forward menu with no misses.
