Was disappointed it was closed when we passed through last Thursday - sad to hear they are moving.Their baking is outstanding and we were looking forward to picking some up.

Arriving for coffee and some fresh crossiants... they are having trouble keeping up with the demand. Enjoyed the coffee and the quaintness of the decor and seating area... a lovely experience on our travels.

The quality of the food at this little bakery was fantastic ... and very unexpected! The croissants were melt in your mouth, the apple turnover was the BEST I have ever had (I ate one and then ordered another to go!). The coffee was very nice. Absolutely worth a visit ... and don't go if you are on a diet!

What a terrible pie. It looked good but was completely dried out. I asked the staff how many days old it was. The lady said as far she knew it was baked that morning. Impossible. I took it back un eaten and never asked for or was offered a refund. How could anyone try to sell products like this?

Went here for a coffee in the morning, excepting a wonderful, freshly made coffee and bread. The coffee was undrinkable and they don’t sell bread! The service was incredible unfriendly and rude.

We stopped on the recommendation of a friend. The pies looked really good but we were only wanting a cuppa and a snack. There wasn't much to choose from as the shelves were pretty bare. We bought creme donuts and coffee. The donuts were a bit stale with tinned tasting strawberry jam. The coffee was OK but nothing special and possibly only a single shot. I wish we had investigated the bakery a few metres further up the road.

This was owned by a French chef - sadly no longer. We entered and ordered as 'eat in' customers. The coffee which we paid for double shot was undrinkable and came in takeaway cups. The food didn't come and the lady looked most affronted at us interrupting her personal conversation when we went to ask for it. When it arrived it was thrown on the table in a paper bag. They were selling nothing that couldn't be bought in a supermarket. Another family had the same problem with only part of their order arriving and then a long wait. As for the general state of the decor - well decidedly scruffy - if they were trying for a Left Bank look they failed miserably! Over the road is another business which though busy and pricey is a much better option.

We regularly stop at this little cafe for a treat when heading down the coast and it’s always been great. However today’s visit was a real disappointment. Luke-warm, thin and tasteless hot chocolate and another taste-free mocha chino- somehow missing both the coffee and hot choc. It’s like they had no milk in them and both had about a cm of sludge in the bottom. Not sure what went wrong today but make sure you taste before you drive off and don’t make the same mistake we did of being stuck with your sub-par beverages!!!

Driving from Nelson to Franz Joseph and stopped for a coffee in Murchison. Had no idea where to go but saw the sign for French Bakery. Went in not expecting anything particular but amazingly real croissants, pain au raisant etc! Heaven.

Well made, well presented products in a clean and tidy store with friendly staff, what more could you ask for?

This place was top of my list to visit in Murchison based on trip advisor reviews. Open everyday except Wednesdays said the website and sign on the shop door. We visited on Tues 22 to pick up some goodies for a days' outing, however the shop was shut. I could be wrong, but don't recall it being open the day prior when we were strolling around town either. Not sure if owner away or what?? We were left disappointed and went across the road to a cafe instead.

A very impressive little bakery. Everything we had was superb. The French lady baker is a true artist. I think she puts her whole soul into her craft. We never had better pastries anywhere in New Zealand. We traveled the south island for three weeks this time and it is our fourth visit to the country. Thank you very much for your art and a great service. Oh, I have to point out, the coffee was exellent as well.

I like a good pie and have tried several in New Zealand. Their beef mince pies have a perfect pastry, not too greasy but not too dry. They were flavoured with fresh herbs. The staff are very friendly and helpful and being French make excellent croissants as well.

Just had the most delicious warm pain au raisin, fresh out of the oven. Excellent as was the coffee.
