This spot is great for casual dining. Comfort music that is a pleasure to hear while dining. Of over 100 restaurants in the area, rated #8. Definitely an earned rating. Wait person Kim was superb. Onion rings the biggest and delicately crunchy. Scallops and fried clams yummy. Clam chowder delicious.

Ordered the regular fish and chip and it was very good. It was a pretty large piece of fish fried just right. In addition the seasoned french fries were delicious.

Dec 2023 family
I cannot praise the owner, Jesse, and his incredible establishment enough! It was my father's 89th birthday on Dec 20th. We were determined to make it a celebration to remember. His one wish was to indulge in authentic New England fried clam bellies, a delicacy that has been elusive to us since he moved to California 15 years ago. We had tried countless seafood restaurants in the area, but none could replicate the traditional New England flavor. Additionally, The favorite establishments back on the East Coast could not get past the hurdle and challenge of shipping fried clams without compromising their taste. The Cove Surf and Turf claimed to be able to ship their mouthwatering fried clams and ensure they arrived tasting absolutely incredible. When I placed my order online for 2 pounds of fried clam bellies, I mistakenly overlooked a 25% off shipping discount that had expired prior to my purchase. Despite the shipping cost not being exorbitant, I decided to reach out to Jesse via email, politely requesting a $20 credit. To my surprise, Jesse responded promptly, even in the middle of the night, acknowledging my mistake and pointing out that the promo had expired a week ago. However, without hesitation, he had already taken the initiative to refund the amount to my credit card. I was truly impressed by his attentiveness and commitment to customer satisfaction. In my reply, I expressed my gratitude to Jesse and shared that this order was a special birthday present for my father's 89th celebration. Jesse, going above and beyond, decided to elevate the experience even further. He upgraded the shipping to overnight early morning direct, at no additional charge, to ensure the clams arrived in time for my father's birthday weekend. Jesse also sent a heartfelt email for me to forward to my father, expressing his warm wishes for a joyous birthday celebration. This level of communication and understanding of the significance of celebrating 89 years with a parent deeply touched my heart. It was evident that Jesse is a business owner who values customer satisfaction and knows how to make each customer feel truly special. The pride and dedication Jesse has for his craft are unparalleled. In a time when these qualities seem to be fading away, Jesse and the Cove Surf and Turf restaurant have mastered the art of making customers feel valued. They have reignited the spirit of going the extra mile, being considerate, and taking pride in their business. It is a testament to the exceptional service and care they provide. Now, let me share with you my father's reaction to the long-awaited fried clams. I received a text message from him last night after he received the package: "They arrived at 9:40 pm. We were downstairs watching television when I decided to check the tracking. I saw that they had been delivered. The packaging was impeccable, and I followed the included instructions to re-heat them, using our air fryer. These fried clams are the best I have ever had!! Delicious! Thank you son for the best birthday present I've ever received!" The fact that the restaurant can maintain such exceptional quality and send them across the country without compromising their taste, just a few days before Christmas with all the craziness of the Mail system going on, is almost like a Christmas miracle itself! I cannot recommend the Cove Surf and Turf restaurant enough. Jesse's commitment to customer satisfaction, his ability to make each customer feel special, and the outstanding quality of their fried clams are truly exceptional. Thank you Cove surf and turf restaurant for bringing such a great happiness to my dad on his 89th birthday!

My partner and I stopped in on a Friday winter afternoon for lunch. I was starving, AND on a diet. So fried food was not on my possible list. He could do whatever, and very predictably, got the Fish & Chips. He quipped that the fish "jumped out of the water onto his plate - that's how fresh it was. Fries were fries." At $16, that was the going price to my mind. My baked scallops with crumb topping was $19 - which does not make the restaurant qualify for 'not the same as Merrills or Black Whale' also in New Bedford. In other words, prices are not cheap, but not outrageous. My baked potato had been re-heated, and the one step up from plastic silverware knife could not cut the skin. the broccoli was so overcooked (or re-cooked a few times) that the color was more yellow than green. the scallops on my 'light plate - $19' as opposed to $$25 or more for more scallops, were okay, but topped with literally bread crumbs so baked on that I had to scrape them as well off the crock. I was VERY disappointed, while my partner was pleased. Life and learn. My sense is that people come to the Cove for fried, and for that, I'm guessing the food is fine, if not plentiful and good. Stick to that, or don't go.

We had a super delicious, perfectly cooked meal. The chowder was amazing. I understand why they have received so many trophies & awards for their chowder. Completely delicious. I’ve been there quite a few times. Always fantastic!!

Our family have eaten at Cove surf and Turf a number of times, and have also used their delivery service. This Christmas weekend was very small for us and I decided to order rather than cook. We got the steak tips, the baked chicken parm as well as the meat pie with mashed potato & butternut squash. All high quality and delicious. I love that they are local and can take complete accountability for their food and service.

We expected to be wow'd by everything we ordered. We had never been there before so thought we should try the clam cakes (I never heard of them before) which, in my mind, were like hush puppies - fried and breaded, didn't really taste any clams. The only thing "seafood" about it was the tarter sauce. My husband and I both had casseroles which were very tasty but we both liked the picked beets the best - not such a great commentary for a seafood restaurant if we enjoyed the beets best of all. To us it was just average fare; nothing spectacular to write home about. We had a waiter who was pretty slow but the waitresses were running their butts off so kudos to them for a wonderful job.

Cove Surf and Turf isn't fancy—it's just real good food. Started with medium spicy Portuguese kale soup, a regional favorite. Delicious with beans instead of potatoes. But the star of the show was the 1.5# lobster. It came with corn and another side for under $30. Paper plates, plenty of butter and napkins, great waitress (thanks Melanie), some Sam Summer Ale, an almost perfect meal.

We ate outside in a cozy wooden picket fence enclosure that was painted with mermaids and other things to do with the sea. This was a perfect compliment to the perfectly cooked fried whole clams, fried calamari, big 8 oz. Burger, and the biggest and best fried onion rings I have ever had. I can't wait to go again.

My friend and I ate here on Sat around noon. Kylie and Kim were friendly and provided good service. The meal was fresh and each item had its own flavor. I thought the clamcakes were especially tasty with adequate amt of clams. Chowder was creamy and potatoes were small just like I want them, WE plan on returning soon. We initially were going to Newport until we noticed the ad on the back of a magazine. What a find!!!!

Our first time trying CST’s kale soup and we really enjoyed it. It came just as pictured. A perfect amount of kale, vegies and meats. My wife felt that it was on the spicy side but she agreed it was a flavorful spice and not a hot mouth burning spice and that the flavors were blended perfectly. Very tasty. It comes with crackers or you can ask for a pop. I wiped the bowl with my last piece of pop and it was gone. Could have gone for another bowl. It’s really good! *****
