We had dinner here. It was packed - 20 minute wait. Lots of food, but only OK. I expect the rice and french fries as part of the Portuguese-American cuisine, but they just buried the main meal in them. Rice was good. Fries were dull....I had the Cacoila (Pork Cubes) Plate ($19) and the pork was dull - didn't get the flavor I expected. The food was a mixed experience around the table. I don't think we'll rush back. A certain sameness of flavor and color to the meals (brown). Good value - lower prices than expected. $225 for eight people. Parking lot across the street.More

First off, when you walk into a food & drink venue, and it’s packed with local families who are obvious “regulars”, you know it’s good. Highly recommend this spot!!!!! Comfortable, if smaller, excellent family friendly service. BIG MENU, with lots to choose from and definitely...Portuguese cooking. Portions are HUGE! Unless you are used to eating 5-6 lbs. of food at one sitting, choose carefully! Our dinner consisted of little necks in garlic, lemon, and saffron seasoning-beautiful. A lobster croquet, perfectly seasoned and hand made, for starters. Red Portuguese vineyard wine & cold Sam Adams beverages. Main course: I had their version of surf & turf: 16 oz sirloin done a perfect medium rare, scallops and shrimp in a delicious sauce, with hand cut fries and saffron rice. (Half of it is in my refrigerator now, and I can eat!) My wife ordered Pork Meat Ribatejana. This was a larger serving than mine and could easily feed 3-4! Marinated pork stewed with littlenecks and shrimp. Topped with cubed fried potatoes, all served in a 3qt pot steaming hot, with saffron sauce. OH. MY!!!! Go. So worth it! .More

My wife and I shared the cod cake and quahog appetizers. The cod cake was delicious, but the stuffed quahog had too much stuffing for my liking. The entrees however were outstanding. My wife's broiled scallops were savory and sweet. They were accompanied with delicious...round potato fries and steamed broccoli. My seafood paella was massive chock full of seafood -- tasty clams, lobster, mussels, scallops and shrimp. It was served piping hot and also had beef and chicken in it. I also had a side order of the round potato fries. We also enjoyed an affordable Casal Garcia Vinho Verde. Portions were quite large; our server Delilah was extraordinary and the food quality was remarkable. Can't wait to get back here and enjoy this amazing cuisine.More

Excellent food and service. Variety of different foods, many with a Portuguese flair. We were there on a weekday night, and it was full. On weekends, I would expect a significant wait time. Large portions. We split an entre. With a salad it was plenty....Definitely worth a stop.More

Antonio's is in one of the old New Bedford neighborhoods and off the tourist track - definitely a long-standing, local family restaurant. Wonderful, warm feel. Simple, basic interior. Our waitress was friendly and very helpful. Everything we had was very, very good and the portions...were enormous. One friend said his seafood stew ranked in his top 5 meals ever - and he's a world traveler.More

We have not been to a restaurant since February of 2020, and started at the Tia Maria on North Winter Street. They were not serving in the late afternoon, but Edwardo (Tia Maria partner) offered to show us Antonio's. We followed him there. The food...and service were excellent. Rosa explained the Paella for Two, and we ordered that with kale Soup. We enjoyed the ambiance and had ample distance from other diners. The flan was equally good, but the connection with Edwardo and the excellent food made the stay in New Bedford memorable. Great experience.More

First time visitors to New Bedford, and we wanted to try a Portuguese restaurant. Antonio's had great reviews, so that is where we went. It is a very popular local restaurant - it was packed when we arrived. The Paella arrived quickly after we ordered...it. It was loaded with seafood, but very salty. It was unlike other Paella dishes we had in the past, very broth. When we finished the meal, our waitress came back, and we ordered dessert and water. When our waitress came back again, she just put our bill on the table - no dessert, no water. Have never had that happen before. Not recommended.More

Chicken Diane sauce was delicious, but the chicken was very tough. It was chewy and even hard to cut. It could have been wonderful if the chicken was tender. I was very disappointed. I doubt if I will try again.

I understand we've locally had the warmest winter on record.... so I know we have a lot of Ice Melt and Road Salt laying around.... every place has bags of Salt in the back just in case that Snow ever comes..... Well, this year the...snow never came and now I know what you're doing with all that Salt laying around.... The last 4 meals I've had at Antonios..... Chicken Diane, Filets Portuguese, Pork Aletajana, and Lamb Shanks...... were waaaaay over salted. ..... so much so that i've been having "salt sweats" from it and drinking water like crazy....... Now I know very well that Portuguese people are frugal and make the most with what we have laying around...... but please use the Salt for the wintery roads and use just a minimum on the food itself.More
