The food was mediocre - I expected more - much much more specially if you are charging $50 per entree. And our server Morgan was not personable -- she was there just to do her job. No personality, No finesse. Just get it done and...over with attitude. Not something I would expect from Fairmont! And there was no view. One i sjust surraounded by palm trees. Needs a lot of improvement to justify such a high price!More

Very pretty setting and fabulous table service. Our server, Luis, guided us through the local fish selections and preparations. Island/Asian inspired flavors were prominent and we loved it. Kudos particularly to the macadamia encrusted local fish and the banana bread dessert. Would choose to return....Mahalo.More

Our server, Serena, recommended the Spring Rolls to start that we shared and they were so tasty. My love found the Short Ribs to be very tender and the fresh catch of the day was outstanding. Many thanks to Serena for a wonderful evening. Martinis...were very good too. The wine list could use improving.More

We come here multiple times every time we come to Maui. Fresh seafood here is the best, appetizers of lavender shrimp and seared ahi on the rock were amazing! Entrees of Monchong in lemongrass sauce and scallops with shrimp- so delicious! We always ask for...Drew who I must say is the best most personable server I have ever had anywhere! He always makes us feel so special and his knowledge of food and wine is incredible! This is one of the few restaurants we have found with an extra generous discount for locals so we always take Maui’s best aerial photographer and my friend Howie from Maui to dinner! A Must Visit!More

Situated pool side at The Fairmont Kea Lani, Ko offers a beautiful open-air dining experience that would rival any other on Maui. Whether you're seated on the terrace or in the garden surround by towering palm trees, you're sure to feel relaxed. If you're able...to get a table at 530pm, you'll not only enjoy the blue skies, but also the orange glow of a famous Maui sunset as the light fades into night. Lane, the lady who booked our reservation, also asked if we were celebrating something special and if we had any special requests. We were celebrating our birthdays. When we arrived at the restaurant, Blanca and Sylvia were at the hostess stand and checked us in, and within 10 minutes, we were seated. The restaurant was very busy as we noticed while walking to our table. Not one empty table. We were fortunate enough to sit in a booth that could fit 6 but just for the two of us, facing out towards the garden and pool. Leanne was our server for the evening. My wife and I live on Maui and almost never eat out at these types of restaurants as sometimes Maui locals feel like these restaurants are biased to tourists, but Leanne showed us it's not. She knew how to adapt from proper English to local Pidgin without missing a beat. Super friendly, very knowledgable, and great personality. We started with the Lilikoi Margarita and Makalapua cocktails. All of their drink selections looked appetizing. Nothing like sipping on cocktails in Maui staring into the distance. Now for the food... The complimentary house rolls and rice cakes accompanied by three unique dips. The lilikoi butter was worth selling on its own. The Lavender Honey Macadamia Nut Shrimp can challenge any other restaurant alone. Crispy outside, soft shrimp, and a sweet dipping sauce. The Kona Kanpachi Hawaiian Poke was refreshingly simple. Many restaurants drown their poke (a type of raw fish ceviche) in hot sauces, avocadoes, mayo, and other extras, but this took us back to the simple taste of the fish itself enhanced with a little salt and seaweed. Appreciate the fish, don't mask it. For entrees, I got the Zarzuela and my wife ordered the fish of the day, pulehu (grilled) style. The Zarzuela came loaded with lobster, shrimp, mussles and chorizo. The tomato-based soup was nicely spiced and the portion was very filling. My wife's fish was Ono, a type of mackerel. The cook on the fish was very nice as it's always tricky when grilling fish. The juicy filet came on a bed of tomatoes, onions, and greens. Two entrees worthy of being ordered again next time. As if that wasn't enough, because Lane made a note that we were celebrating birthdays, the chef made us a special dessert that we never expected. A Brown Banana Bread and Calamansi Lime Pie. Dessert doesn't always have to be overly sweet and these two balanced the sweetness with savory and tart beautifully. Overall, these two locals will be back. I guess the only drawback was not reserving a hotel suite so we didn't have to drive home because we were stuffed. Here's a tip, after your dinner, take a stroll around the properties through the gardens and next to the pools, or maybe even the beach. Kudos to Ko, our newest favorite restaurant on Maui.More

Our experience at Kō was fantastic. My husband and I went here for the first night of our honeymoon and it was the best decision. The service, food, and ambiance were above and beyond what we expected. We made a reservation and the hostess, Sylvia,...sat us immediately with a beautiful view of the sunset. Our server, Lo, was incredibly kind and attentive. He was so fast with everything, we never had to ask for anything, not even a water refill. For starters, we had the macadamia nut crusted shrimp and coconut curry soup. These dishes were out of this world. So fresh, hot, and delicious. For mains, my husband and I chose one surf and one turf to share between us. He chose the Korean braised short ribs and I chose the tempura lobster. They were incredible. I can't get over how fresh and hot the dishes were. Lastly, we asked Lo if he would make a recommendation for desert and coffee because everything was so good. He ought us the brined butter banana bar and a latte for my husband. I'm still dreaming about that dessert and the latte was the perfect touch to pair with it. While we were eating, we wanted to grab some quick sunset pictures and the hostess, Sylvia, was kind enough to go over and reorient our table and fix the chairs so we could get the perfect view. When we were first arrived the sun was pretty fierce so we were positioned away from the sun, but we thought that was such a thoughtful touch for her to move it while we snapped some pictures. Overall, I would come back to Kō in a heartbeat. The only thing that beats great food, is great service and Lo and Sylvia went above and beyond to provide an incredible dining experience.More

Really enjoyed the feast here tonight. Started with the harvest salad- the lilikoi vinaigrette was really different and the ingredients were so fresh. At the waiter’s recommendation I tried the Oishi sushi roll. Holy cow. I’m a sushi person and this was excellent. Also at...his suggestion I tried the Seafood Lau Lau. So different than anything I’d had before but the coconut and saffron flavors were so good with the shrimp, scallop and fresh fish. Wow. Just outstanding. I was way too full for dessert but the menu looked good. Kudos to Andrew- best waiter we had in Maui...knew the menu so well and all his recommendations were on point!! Highly recommend.More

It was literally our first meal after arriving on the island. Maybe we were starving? Maybe we were excited? I don’t know, but it was delicious. The service was great. They had the best Mai tai (and I tried a few, to say the least)...on the island. The banana bar was to die for. And the Harvest salad was so simple but amazing! We had lots of meals on the island. I will rank in order from best to worst! 1. Ko 2. Merrimans 3. Matteos 4. Captain Jacks 5. Monkeypod 6. Maui Brewing Co 7. Tommy Bahamas 8. Kaana Kitchen 9.
