7/3/2022-The low point of our two-week wedding elopement in beautiful Maui was dining at KO on the evening of our wedding! I tried to call Ko 5-6 times on the day of the wedding to confirm our time (reservations were made online months ahead) but...NO ONE answered. We arrived at Ko and as my husband was speaking to the desk person at the restaurant, an officious short-haired woman came up to the first woman and rudely interrupted the conversation in another language. The first woman was embarrassed. We were then escorted to our table where the waiter did say “Congratulations” as I had on a white dress and was carrying a wedding bouquet. At no time in the evening did anyone else from the hotel/restaurant even acknowledge that we had specifically said on our online reservation “This is our wedding dinner.” Come on, we weren’t looking for being comped-we were looking for a little love and willing to pay for it at one of the most high-end restaurants in Wailea. Someone could have welcomed us with a mai tai or something simple such as “Congratulations on your wedding. We are so glad to have you join us on your special day.” This was to be our big deal dinner while in Maui. Our waiter was professional but he was extremely rushed as there were a number of large parties & was running between tables. Also, as other diners have noted, it was so dark we couldn’t see our food. We went elsewhere for dessert. Where Ko receives criticism online is staffing issues. For the price of their food, they have the resources to pay more attention in this area. The week before our wedding, we went to Tommy Bahama twice and once to Chris and Ruth’s steak house. We had fabulous food and we received warm island hospitality from the amazing wait staff at both restaurants. Neither were a chain restaurant experience-quite the opposite. When the front desk person at Tommy Bahama noticed my “wedding nails” (the night before the wedding) they gave us the best table on the deck! It’s not that hard, Ko.More

Amazing experience! We had the great fortune of meeting Brent, the General Manager, who was just incredible in assisting us with reservations during a very busy time at Ko. From the moment we arrived, the experience was perfect - each staff person we met was...the very best - our wait staff, Christina, was amazing - so knowledgeable of the food choices and helped with recommendations We had the chicken and mushroom lumpia for our starter, I had the Oishi Sushi for my meal and my husband had the Monchong prepared with the crab-Hamakua Ali’i style. We absolutely loved it all - can’t wait to return. At the end of our dinner, Brent stopped by our table - such a great finish to the perfect day!More

We went here on a Monday night in July. Family of five (2 adults and 3 kids). My son asked if we were at the VIP table because the service was so amazing; the staff were so attentive and polite. The food was the best....We started with a shared po po platter- the sushi rolls were so delicious. My husband and I each had the catch of the day, prepared differently. The fish was excellent. My oldest child had a curry dish and said it was the best meal he's ever had. And then dessert- we each chose a different one. Mine was the award-winning chocolate banana bread. It was delectable. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a special meal and to be treated like royalty.More

An excellent restaurant, the staff were amazing, the food beautiful & the scenery gorgeous. We celebrated our daughters birthday on July 4th & all had a lovely time, everything was perfect, thankyou. My only request would be to add a pasta dish for kids, (spaghetti...bolognaise perhaps), & we did ask as it hasn't been a problem at any of the other restaurants we ate at but they couldn't help us out at Ko, so fries it was. PSA The meals aren't cheap, $140 - $170 USD each, two courses & a beverage or two, just in case you were wondering, it is beautiful though.More

I live on island, but my father doesn’t. We were able to book a reservation for Father’s Day at Ko Restaurant at the Fairmont hotel. We had a slight hiccup with our reservation as they asked for a credit card online to hold our reservation,...but for some reason it did not go through( in all fairness it could have been my error) so the reservation was automatically cancelled. I was extremely upset, as I booked this reservation a month and a half ago. I called the restaurant in a panic. Here’s the best part, like a superhero with a cape on, Ali Jeransky restaurant manager took my call. She was so apologetic and kind and made sure the reservation was reinstated and assured us that all would be well. We arrived at the restaurant to a beautiful table and served by the lovely Leanne. Ali stopped by our table several times to make sure all was well and my 80 year old father who is legally blind was happy and satisfied. I hope the General Manager reads this because Ali Jeransky, Leanne, and the kitchen staff gave our father an incredible Father’s Day celebration fit for a king! The food was simply incredible! The staff went above and beyond! Don’t miss dining here if you are a local or a tourist. You will be treated like Ohana!More

Enjoyed dinner at Kō with friends. Drinks were flowing ( Lilikoi Margarita = game changer!) and the Aloha was everywhere! The staff were all kind but especially loved how attentive our waitress Leanne was. She made great recommendations like Lavender Honey Shrimp (MUST have!) and...made the night fun. We literally tried every pupu (can’t go wrong) and quite a few dishes and all were amazing. I recommend going outside of your comfort zone because this is where you’ll have that dish…but elevated! Our only regret is none of us left room for dessert. Will keep coming back, Kō is worth it!More

During our vacation in Maui last and this week, we ate in several restaurants ranging from simple to high end. For our last night in Wailea we made reservations at the Ko restaurant in the Fairmont Kea Lani hotel. Upon our arrival we were seated...promptly and then waited for several minutes for a waiter to appear. He took our drink and dinner orders at the appropriate times and then pretty much disappeared for the rest of the evening. Our dinners were delivered by the runner staff who we had to use for ordering a glass of wine with dinner. The waiter appeared several minutes later with the wine and then promptly left without asking if everything was OK with the meal (it was). After the runner staff had removed our dinner plates, we waited for many additional minutes before the waiter reappeared with the dessert menus. The desserts finally were delivered and the check soon followed. For a hotel charging more or less $1000 per night, one would expect top notch food and service. The food was good. The service was bad. We understand that covid has changed the restaurant landscape and things just aren't the same as before. If a high end hotel doesn't have the normal amount of restaurant staff, they shouldn't be booking the number of restaurant reservations that they obviously are doing. All in all a very disappointing experience.More

In our two week stay in Hawaii, this was the best meal we had. It is not cheap, but the food justifies the prices. It is set in the beautiful Fairmont hotel, in a relaxed setting. The wine list is particularly good - showcasing the...best of Californian and Oregon wines. We had the Tuna appetizer, following by two catch of the days. The catch of the day is great, as you can choose which sauce you want. Finally, we had the coconut ice cream dessert - which to our surprise was in fact really more of a churros meats profiteroles kind of idea - it was excellent. The highlight was the tuna appetizer, which arrived (again to our surprise) on a hot stone where you could grill yourself. This was an awesome experience. We really enjoyed our meal.More
