It is in an amazing environment, along a babbling creek and in view of the redwoods in the not too far distance. A great ride over the GG Bridge from the south or past San Quentin from the east gets you there! The area around...it seems to belie the incredible - sometimes overbearing - affluence of the area and reminds you of almost a country town. It's a nice getaway from crazy, beautiful San Francisco. Their breakfasts are excellent. They're open early and I believe close at about 3 PM. Check their website for that. A great stop on the way to Muir Woods. I always try to hit either breakfast or lunch there when I'm out there.More
Nice quaint little restaurant with a cozy atmosphere. I ordered the juevos rancheros which were delicious! Coffee was above par for a restaurant and the staff was very friendly and attentive. My friend ordered the pancakes, eggs and home fries and apparently they were to...good to let me have a bite!More
A very bright and yellow environment in this old, refreshed looking diner. I sat at the bar and got the basic breakfast, eggs, bacon which was stiff, chewy and lifeless, and sourdough toast, which was very good. Cage free eggs were fried perfectly. The coffee...had an odd taste to it. Got home fries with the meal which I didn't specifically order. Again, way to expensive, but I ain't in Ohio anymore.More
We had breakfast and expected a wait, but were seated immediately. The menu is pricey, tourist prices, but not tourists. The food presentation was okay; observing the staff they appeared to be dis jointed, some hustling and some not busy. Some dressed as servers, others...wearing t shirts. i expected the FOH to wear shirts with collars for the men and nice blouses for the women. Over the course of our 45 min meal, we were checked on once as to our needs. Unfortunately, Dipsea had been a reliable place to go, now I have second thoughts.More
We came after hiking (like most people). We had made a reservation ahead of time for a group of 15, and were seated in the large space in the back. We were lucky that we arrived at 2PM as the place was not that busy...anymore, so we ordered and got our food fairly quickly.
Food was decent. There were a ton of breakfast items on the menu, as well as several Greek dishes like Falafel and moussaka. I tried the Gryo $14.95, which was decent. The meat was a little too thick, and the tzaziki sauce wasn't too flavoful. It also came with a side Greek salad.
We also tried Chicken Fried Steak $18.95. It came with crispy potato and 2 eggs. The portion was huge, but the gravy was very thick. I heard good things about the Fish & Chips $18.95 and lamb burger $14.95, but someone in the group sent the Turkey burger back as it was too dry.
I also highly recommend the smoothies. We liked both the banana coconut one, and the Tri-Berry Bliss. Coffee was surprisingly decent too!
Overall, this place is pricey in comparison to other brunch spots. However, it is conveniently located close to the many hiking trials, so it's definitely a popular spot. Service was very attentive (mandatory 18% gratuity for group larger than 6) , we got our food and drinks refilled quickly.More
We stopped at dipsea cafe because we were on our way to Muir Woods and it was close. We couldn't even tell if this place was open or not because it looked abandoned, we should have known then it wasn't a good choice. However, I...looked online and it had good ratings so we stopped. We were seated right away but didn't have anyone come back for 15 minutes to take our drink/food order. We were just getting ready to leave when our server took our order. The decor was outdated, and it was not the cleanest. There were flies everywhere, which is expected when doors remain opened but it still grossed me out. We ordered breakfast items, eggs, omelette and biscuits. The eggs and omelette were not good, not even edible. The biscuits and homemade jam were okay. I don't recommend this place.More
