We took advantage of the happy hour from 5 to 6 pm where the local oysters cost only a dollar each. We four adults shared four dozen oysters - the small local variety, small but sweet and fresh tasting. I thought they tasted their best...with a squeeze of lemon but we also tried them with ground horseradish which was also good. We followed with mains, I had one of the best hamburgers I have had in a while served with plenty of fries and ketchup, mayonnaise and mustard on small pots on the side. Two friends had the grilled trout with cauliflower and mash, thought good. The fourth person had the fried chicken was very generous. We drank two bottles of excellent Pinot Noir. the first on the list. We then all shared one portion of banana bread pudding - good and sticky.More
Great little restaurant in the center of Mill Valley village. Went there on a Thursday evening with my daughter, son-in-law, and granddaughter (10 months old). Reservations at 6:30. Food was excellent, service was marginal, place was crowded and pleasantly busy. This is a typically pretentious...upscale northern Bay Area restaurant full of mostly tech crowd soccer mom-type of families and singles. There's a very good mix of appetizers and entrees. Good beer list. Wine list as good as you'd expect for being close to Napa & Sonoma. Service was ditzy and not that well-educated on what her own menu and beer list offered. I was intrigued when I saw Berliner Weiss on the menu since that north German summer beer & sweet syrup combination is very, very hard to find anywhere in the US. When I asked her if it was really true Berliner Weiss she said it must be so or it wouldn't be on the menu. I ordered it and she brought me some form of US IPA. I sent it back and ordered something else.More
Brought 10 family members to celebrate my birthday. Big bill, happy servers. Returned alone less than a month later and was unrecognized, treated like I was invisible. Seated at the bar with a bar boy too busy to greet me. Handed a sloppy wet menu....Asked a question and he got impatient. And they don’t have on the menu items on their website. Wow. Won’t be back.More
I went there with my son for a quick meal. The atmosphere was great and we were very well received by everyone there. The food was excellent and I can only recommend this restaurant for anyone visiting Mill Valley
Our landlord right across the street recommended this restaurant. We noticed it was beautiful, busy especially at Happy hour $1 oysters and heard their cocktails were amazing! Our last night in town we gave it a try! It was a beautiful place We were seated...by the fire...bonus as we were with our mommas 80 and 90! Hubby ordered cocktail off the menu....I tried for martini with blue cheese stuffed olives was surprised they could not make it work? Our dinners were great...from gnouchi to steak and frites all good! Waiter was busy with big table of 16 next to us...so we understood service was in and out....then bill came to mom padded with 20 oysters and extra cocktail? We arrived way after Happy Hour at 6:30? Busy or bogus...not sure....food and drinks legit maybe we had a bad server? Would try it again it take care...More
I can tell that a restaurant is good when I see many locals dining there. My husband and I had a delicious meal at Bungalow 44. We dined on the crab au gratin appetizer (which we shared). My husband enjoyed his salmon entree, while I...had the shrimp and grits cake appetizer and blackened Brussels sprouts with Marcona almonds for my entree.
For dessert, we had beignets and vanilla ice cream. Both were very good, as was the service and the atmosphere.More
This is owned by the same group that owns the Buckeye Roadhouse which is very close to the place that I reviewed as a good place to stay.
Both Places are wonderful places to eat or just have a cocktail, with a club like atmosphere...and first rate staff. A cool place to go regardless of the season!More
