One of my ongoing puzzles is why there are so many fine restaurants with such diverse cuisines in Dumaguete, but so little in Misamis Occidental or ZaNorte. Having said that, Le Bistro is by far and away the best restaurant in Misamis Occidental and ZaNorte....I had the salmon: best I've had in the Philippines, but be warned, although it's the right size for me, for most: small. The blueberry cheesecake was very good, but I've had better in Dumaguete. My wife's 4 seasons vegetables, were OK, but bland. Will I go back as a special trip? You bet! Please, please drop by. I want Le Bistro prosperous and around for years to come. BTW, a suggestion for the excellent chef: use unsweetened, American made peanut butter when you make your sauce for the satay, not sweet peanutbutter made here. I lived in Indonesia for three years. Le Bistro, despite its ranking, has the best food in Misamis Occidental. Unfortunately, that's not saying much. "Best" is a comparative term. In absolute value, it's below average of restaurants I will eat in by choice. But, since all the other restaurants are worse, it's...the best. Take today as an example. I ordered Pasta Puttanesca. No capers, no anchovies, but four shrimps - and very nice shrimp too. But not in this dish. It's like ordering a hamburger and getting a club sandwich. Plus, the garlic bread had no garlic as far as I could taste, but was sprinkled with time. But that didn't matter, since I spit it out it was so stale. For the satay, the peanut sauce was made with sweet, Philippine style peanut butter. Yech. Nice decor, nice feel, good waitstaff, but the cooking does match the rest and needs an upgrade, a big upgrade.More

The restaurant is part of a corporation that manages Bawbawon Beach Resort. This is a good take-off point before going to the island and a good rest before heading home coming from the island. They have free wifi for those who need.
