The establishment may be small but they are big when it comes to flavor. Seating is limited so carryout is always an option. The staff was very friendly and helpful when explaining what was in some of the dishes they offer. Requested a few changes due to a dietary need and they did it just as requested. Don't be fooled... This is my favorite cheap lunch spot. You won't find better tacos in Frederick. It's in an unassuming building, but it's always busy because word got out about how amazing their food is! It's a little farther up North Market and down 5th Street, but totally worth the extra walk.

This is a little tiny place in a strip mall. It doesn't look like much but the food is so great. It's the closest thing I've had to real Mexican food in the area.

Cafe Bueno continues to serve good authentic Mexican food. I am particularly fond of the Torta de Milanesa (sandwich of thin fried steak), this one is worth the best Milanesa in Mexico. They also have aguas frescas, including my favorite Agua de horchata (sweet rice and cinnamon water).

We both love Mexican authentic food and we constantly are looking for the great places to eat wherever we travel. We happened to look up at yelp and tripadvisor for tips. At first we thought it was in the sleazy place but we definitely were WRONG. I strongly encourage you not to judge by the look or location. It is... More

Don't judge this place by its neighbors- a 7-11, liquor store and a laundromat- the place is a gem. Fresh made sauces, bright flavor combos. It's a find. The prices are great. It's one of Frederick's best kept secrets along with Tulip Grill. You definitely want to try this super Mexican cuisine.

We are new to Frederick and very happy to find Cafe Bueno. A little cafe in a small strip mall, next to 7-11. Not a lot of seating so eating during off hours is a good idea. Good food, super friendly staff. Good menu selections but be sure to read the special board.

I have been at Cafe Bueno at least 30 times. Every time I go they have something new to try. I went today and ate the cochinita Pilbil. Wow... Just superb! The tongue tacos were just so tender and good. It can't get any better than this. Outstanding food, easy parking, superior customer service and good prices. Highly recommended.

Celebrated a birthday here for something different and tasty. We ordered off the whiteboard that lists the specials of the day - started with the Sopa Azteca and then proceeded to the pork cooked in banana leaves - very delicious. This is a cut above any of the standard Frederick mexican food places. Service is superb; decor is authentic. One... More

Cafe Bueno is located at the intersection of East and 5th Streets. We are located in the same center as 7-11, about 3 blocks north of Shab Row. There is plenty of free parking in our large front lot.Cafe Bueno serves authentic Mexican food, and yes, we are the real deal! We have ten different kinds of tacos! A few highlights are our hand-breaded fish tacos, topped with radishes, cabbage, and served with cilantro salsa on the side, or tacos al pastor, which is a combination of spicy marinated pork and pineapple, served on a soft corn tortilla and topped with onions, cilantro, and fresh lime. Our salsa verde and salsa roja hot sauces are freshly made in-house of genuine Mexican ingredients, including tomatillos, jalapenos, guajillo chiles and chile de arbol. Our meats are all hand-cut, marinaded to perfection, and served on tacos or on a massive torta sandwich. The infamous torta cubana is not to be missed - a combination of steak, spicy pork, ham, hot dog, egg, lettuce, tomato, mayo, onion, jalapeno, and avocado. We serve Mexican breakfasts all day, including huevos rancheros, huevos con chorizo (our chorizo is made fresh in-house, of course!) And we serve all the American classics, like eggs, homefries, pancakes, and french toast, until 11am. We also have daily specials showcasing other authentic Mexican dishes, such as sopes, huaraches, carne asada, chile rellenos, mole enchiladas, carnitas, and much more!
