This is THE cozy place in Frederick, MD !!!! These folks do care about their customers, both before and during their visits. Highly recommend to everyone!
Went for a couple of drinks. Waitress bartenders and other staff were very friendly and helpful. Cool casual classy place. Great stop and the menu looks good for next time! Thanks
Just a quick stop for a few drinks to celebrate a birthday. Friendly staff, good drinks and decent prices.
A classic Frederick establishment , with all the character , and accompanying personalities. The most outstanding team member was Shelby the hostess, she really defines hospitality, you can tell that she is genuinely happy you came. The food here has always been quite creative and...well worth the gastronomic investigation and the menu is refreshed often enough to justify frequent visits. This time I tried the (Chesapeake) Crab Empanadas. These were surprisingly quite delightful. The pastry shell was nice and crisp, tasty, and influencing the filling flavor in compliment. The seafood filling was the star of the show. These empanadas are stuffed with a moist, savory , almost stewy lump crab filling , that is delicately seasoned and generously enclosed is a light crisp deep fried pastry. About the pastry, I almost wish they baked it, though it was surely not oily, and I defer to the chef’s wisdom in this regard. It’s just that the stuffing is so delicious , it reminded me of a good meat pie, and those tend to come in flaky baked pastries. This is a great restaurant , that features good comedy. Check it outMore
My boyfriend and I stopped in Frederick to stretch our legs on the drive home from DC. We were trying to choose between this and the one across the street when the Chesapeake Empanadas stood out to me on the menu. The empanadas were excellent,...and our entrees were so incredible when we were leaving and a couple stopped us on the sidewalk asking if we had just eaten there, we excitedly told them all about what we ate and how great it was. I got the drunken salmon. The carrot mushroom side was so good and the salmon had the best crunchy skin of any fish I've ever had. Even how the rice was prepared was incredible. My boyfriend got the scallops that had a crab and potato salad with duck fat that was like nothing we've had before and we are ready to drive the 2 hours back here to get it again. Bartender and chef were both very friendly, coming out and talking to us at the bar about our food, drinks, what brought us to Frederick. Thank you both for making it a great evening.More
Cellar Door Sunday Night comedy shows remain a favorite treat on the Frederick scene. Typically three or four performers appear and offer their sets with bits covering topics like food, sports, and of course politics. Like most comedy laughter depends on your individual mindset and...often the performers excel. Take care as the jokes don't come with trigger warnings and children remain discouraged. Cellar Door menu items also provide a great starter before the show - fish tacos, burgers, wings and very nice salads. And of course an adult beverage works both with food and comedy.More
We used to love this place. Especially for happy hour and dinner on Fridays. Now, they have redone the interior and change the happy hour completely. Its terrible. Looks bad and the prices are bad. We don't go back any more. UNFORTUNATE.
There libations are as amazing as the food! "The Enforcer" which is a twist on a Manhattan is awesome. The Rock Tacos were perfect.
Wanted to go out to dinner last minute with friends. Was looking for a nice bar with good food and an atmosphere where we could talk. Cellar Door was recommended. Was so happy with the choice. They have an extensive bar with lots of beer...choices. Although they do not brew their own (as their competition does down the street), they carry many local beers. The food menu offers something for everyone and is reasonably price ($12 hamburgers). Had the chicken sandwich with crab spread on it - yummy. As I have said over and over, a good restaurant can be ruined by the waitstaff. This restaurant has the BEST waitstaff. Alissa, our waitress, was not only friendly but knowledgeable about the different beers. The rest of the waitstaff were friendly and efficient. I will definitely be going back to the cellar again. Would highly recommend it over several of the other local pubs on the same block.More
