Came with family for the 3 course tasting menu at lunchtime on a Saturday. The dining room was beautiful. All wait staff were charming and helpful and knowledgeable. The descriptions of each dish were amazing. The presentations were timed perfectly and the dishes all looked like pieces of art. However, they forgot to taste the dishes. Our party of 5... More

Volt was fantastic! From the minute we walked in, we were happily greeted by their staff and led to our table. We sat in the back by the kitchen and it was really interesting to see what goes on behind the scenes- it was surprisingly calm. We had about 10 dishes they brought out and each one was fantastic. My... More

Went to VOLT to celebrate our anniversary and had a good meal but portions were very small and some were really no better than average (taste). I've had venison that is prepared much better than what I had at VOLT. You go there for the experience of the place and a chance to meet our own home town but national... More

Went there for dinner....paid for dinner. Got an appetizer sized dinner. Next time I will opt for Longhorn. Better service, less pretentious, and you actually leave full. This place has a whole lot of pretentiousness, trying to be something they are not.

It was our 3rd visit to Volt and unfortunately the best thing I can say about it is "It was okay." Unfortunately for a restaurant of this caliber "okay" is disappointing for us and, I would hope, disappointing for them. We indulged ourselves this time and opted for the tasting menu and beverage pairing and while the food was good... More

There are special occasions and special ways of marking them. Dining at Volt on your 40th wedding anniversary was our special way of celebrating and it was memorable as well as delicious. We had the 12 course tasting menu. I especially savored the Skinny Dipper oyster and the Carolina Prawn and the Arctic Char. My wife particularly loved the Lamb... More

Poor service. Very attentive to diners eating the tasting menu, but since we ordered a la carte, the wait staff were inattentive. Food was poor, size of portions too small. We went home for dessert. One of my worst dining experiences. Does not deserve the ratings and reputation.

My husband and I went here for his birthday and we both loved it. Maybe my sense of "expensive" is jaded by DC prices, but I didn't think Volt was unreasonable considering the high-end ingredients and labor-intensive preparation. Plus the food is quite rich, so we probably could have ordered fewer courses (but the severs were kind enough to box... More

I had lunch at Volt a few years ago and it was a staggeringly wonderful meal, so I was excited to take my husband there for our 30th anniversary. It did not disappoint on any level. The service was incredibly attentive without being intrusive, the food divine. If I had to find a quibble- no, it's just too tiny. It... More

Since I couldn't get a reservation for dinner we stopped by the bar for early appetizers and drinks. My husband got the Crazy English Summer cocktail, a gin drink that tasted like limoncello. Luckily we like limoncello. I got B.B.O.F. Rye whiskey, blackberry liquor, Tiki bitter and Oak. It was delicious but I wish they had one bourbon drink on... More

VOLT offers guests a menu of modern American cuisine. The focus of our cuisine is based on classic flavor combinations, creating sophisticated dishes that emphasize purity and seasonal flavors that are based on fundamental and innovative cooking techniques. VOLT's relationship with local artisan farmers ensures availability of products to fulfill the philosophy behind the menu, in a refined, historic venue where classic meets modern. By design, the restaurant follows along the original footprint of the mansions first floor parlors. Both the 38 seat main dining room and the bar/lounge open off the foyer. The original mosaic tile in the foyer was the inspiration behind the warm monochromatic color palette that adorns the finishes in VOLT. Private dining can be hosted in the conservatory offering views of the expansive courtyard. The 700 square foot kitchen afforded space to include up to 20 guests.
