We've been to El Peñón several times and will always go back. Great location and friendly staff. To be honest lamb and mussels weren't great. But grilled lubina and pulpo were terrific. In fact any seafood chargrilled here is to die for. Sit on the beach tables when it's not too hot or, if it is, go early (or book)... More

We went in a large group and not many of us were happy with the experience. The service was slow and most of us were disappointed with the food. Some of the fish portions such as the Red Snapper were very small. I got one drink at the beginning but the waiters never asked whether I wanted another. The food... More

Great location, service was good and food from wooden bbq cooked beautifully even if times can be variable given the wood temperature. Red Snapper was very good and son had lobster which took a while but which was tasty.

We often eat in El Penon when visiting Salobrena. The setting is great sometimes traumatic when there are heavy seas and the waves come up to the windows! The seafood is excellent all freshly grilled on the outside open wood burning grill. The sea bass was superb fresh grilled with a dressing of lemon, olive, garlic and parsley as well... More

You know sometimes you find a small restaurant and you know instinctively that it is going to be good El Penon is such a find. The smokey bbq taste of the Pulpo was terrific alongside a tropical salad, Gambas Blanco and sadly I have to admit the ubiquitous Patatas Frittas, but they were good also, an excellent meal for 2... The Rock which is the English translation of El Penon provides a superb setting to marvel at the sea and enjoy beautiful food especially fish and seafood. A must is the Espeto de Sardinas - beautifully cooked fish on a skewer roasted over hot coals. You can eat outside or in depending on the weather but if at all possible... More

Ate here one evening in April and had a lovely meal. All five in the party enjoyed every mouthful. Portions are very generous and value for money. It is in a great location on the beach right next to El Penon (The Rock) which is an obvious landmark in Salobrena. Friendly staff and very patient with us as we had... More

We visited this restaurant for lunch whilst on a short visit to Salobrena. We wanted to eat by the sea and this couldn't have been a better choice. We sat by the window overlooking the sea and the view was beautiful. The waiters were extremely attentive and the food was piping hot and very tasty. We couldn't fault the service... More

Situated on a rocky outcrop above the pebbly beach, the position is unrivalled on this stretch of the coast. I particularly enjoyed seeing the octopus cooking on an olive wood fire. Hugely popular, we could have sat all afternoon on the terrace at the back, with the waves breaking gently on the rocks below. As chiringuitos go, this is one... More
