The setting couldn’t be better - a pretty, peaceful garden with a beautiful view of the rolling hills. And the food was among the best Indian food I’ve had (and I’ve had a lot!). My tween daughters and I visited twice in our 24 hour...stay in Capileira, and if in town again we will go again! Paneer masala was particularly tasty. Highly recommend.More

Were surprised to find this Spanish and Indian restaurant on the Northern edge of the village. One of the bonuses is that if you are prepared to have 200m walk there is lots of parking! A priceless commodity. We had the plate of mixed Indian...starters. Pakoras and Bhajis. The Paneer Bhaji was exceptional, all the others were crisp and Tasty 10/10. For main, Gambas Jalfraizi and Chicken Rogan Josh with plain rice and a plain Naan. The chicken was delicious. The Prawns were exceptionally good, very tasty and cooked perfectly, the sauce was very fishy and delicious. The Naan was disappointing, closer to a Chappati. Certainly one of the best Indians we have had in Spain and the view was breathtakingMore

We have been visiting the restaurant previously at this location, the long-established and well-regarded "Casa de Paco y Pilar" for many years, and were always satisfied with it's excellent rustic Alpujarran food and wine selection, not to mention the stunning views of the Poqueira gorge...and the Sierra de Contraviesa opposite. However, we have now visited twice since the name (and presumably the ownership) changed to the "Jardin de los Sabores" and, after 2 disappointments, we agreed that we would not visit again. Since the changeover, the restaurant is concentrating on Indian cuisine, which my wife tried during both visits and her verdict was that the food was mediocre at best and needed more spicing. Virtually all of the other clients were Spanish and perhaps for them Indian cuisine is a novelty in a location like the Alpujarras, but for anyone with experience of genuine Indian food, this would be a disappointment. Sadly, the token selection of Spanish food is now very limited and mediocre and a much wider selection of better food can be found elsewhere in the pueblo. As regards the wine, no "carta de vinos" was available and neither it transpired was wine by the bottle. Eventually, we ordered and were promised a bottle of Marques de la Contraviesa rosado from Murtas, but actually got a 1 litre jar of what we assumed was the local "costa". Even worse was the service- although polite and pleasant, the staff totally mixed up our order, although we had requested it in well-practiced Spanish. My wife was served the starter as a main, while I received a main...but no starter! Finally, the desserts arrived as ordered and were pleasant, but unexceptional. Our experience on 2 occasions suggests that there has been a sad decline since the days of "Casa de Paco y Pilar" and I would suggest only visiting if you're suffering from curry withdrawal symptoms!More

Great food and an amazing view - staff lovely. We had starters - veg samosas - which were homemade and so tasty! Followed by chicken tikka masala, chicken korma, sag paneer and nan. All dishes exceeded our expectations. A real fiery treat.

We visited the place after walking from Capilerilla to Capileira and was the first place we found. We were gladly surprised of the nice viewings from the terrace and decided to stay. The staff was very friendly, the traditional food was great (we didn't try...the Indian) and the quantity was generous. We all agreed we would come back.More

We arrived to Capileira with my boyfried after trekking for few days in the mountains. With empty stomachs we headed to this cozy restaurant with amazing garden seats and breath-taking view. We ordered starter (cold almond soup), main dishes (calamares and vindaloo - a bit...mild but delicious) and desserts (flan and cheesecake) and we were absolutely satisfied and happy. All the dishes were delicious, the staff was really nice and cool. We also liked that the restaurant was dog-friendly. We would definitely come again. Great experience!More

We’re big lovers of Indian food & the only thing I can say about the food here was it was awful . Well below expectations. We traveled from Cordoba and stayed the night in a local finca so we could take our time and enjoy...the food . We were in and out in under an hour . No sooner the starter was served the mains were also served ... the nan bread was more like a nan shaped flat bread . The mains very way to mild even the masala was way to mild ... Of course every one has their own opinion whoever we won’t be returning . Nice setting though .More

The local cuisine is fantastic but my girlfriend had the Indian menu and it totally blew our minds how good it was. Subtle spices and flavours combined with superb Indian breads which far surpassed any we have had in Yorkshire. This lad can cook! The...views and ambience are amazing with beautiful water features and vistas of the Alpujarras and the staff really make it homely and welcoming. Absolute diamond of a restaurant.More

This is a gem of a restaurant situated in the mountain villages of the Alpujarras. For those of us who live in the area, it is so refreshing to have access to Indian food without having to drive to the coast. The restaurant is welcoming,...with eclectic décor comprising artefacts from the local area over the ages and lots of beautiful and well-executed paintings; the food itself is really good quality (albeit not as hot, chilli-wise, as some people may be used to - the vindaloo is what I would call medium.). And as a vegan it is also easy to choose from several dishes. There is also a good selection of Spanish food on the same menu, should Indian not be your thing.More

After a couple of days doing the Tapas and bulls stew thing down in Nerja we wanted to drive up to the highest village in the Sierra Nevada. At the end of November many bars and restaurants were closed. However in the evening we found...this place at the top of town. We fancied something a bit spicy so gave it a try. First off it tries to do the Spanish restaurant thing and some Indian which is a bit difficult in my opinion. However let's stick with the Indian side. We arrived at 7.30 pm and there was a lovely table next to a very welcoming open wood fire which was delightful. We ordered a vegetable Samosa starter. Aloo Saag, Butter chicken, nan bread and pilau rice. A jug of local vino was ordered. It was wierd having a bowl of olives put on the table and Spanish flamenco music in the background but it didn't distract from having a lovely Indian meal at 4000 feet in a lovely little Spanish village. The food was excellent. Not too spicy but you are not in Birmingham. The service was outstanding. The restaurant is very pretty. If you fancy a change after a long walk in the hills from pork and potatoes this is the place for you. The bill with wine was only €35 for two.More

Beautifully situated with a spectacular view, this is a fairly mediocre restaurant. If you are used to Indian cooking that is spicy and authentic then you will leave underwhelmed. Our waiter was at best casual and at worst uninterested. Walking away in the middle of...us ordering drinks, neglecting to clear the dishes long after we had finished and generally bring absent did not make a good impression. Poppadums we’re stale and the dips were very basic. My Vindaloo was barely hot, which was a first and all the different dishes that we ordered were somewhat disconcertingly the same colour!? There was a lot of food left uneaten and the complimentary Indian carrot pudding was abandoned by most of us after being tasted just the once. I felt that the chef was catering to the Spanish palate, which is fair enough, but the result is dispiritingly bland.More
