I used to love Houston's but the rumor about the new management being discriminatory is unfortunately very true. They pick and choose what dress code they want to follow based on how they feel. It's called having POLICY GUYS!! Have a policy in place that...says what you can and can not were. I have a beautiful dress on one that any fit woman would wear on a date and they told me no meanwhile people had sneakers, head wraps and one lady actually had a moo moo on! I can't. So I changed came back and the food was disgusting took them 3 times to get my steak right blah blah blah how sub par! Never again. Don't waste your time! My guy and I then went to this new spot.. listen this is Atlanta there's good food on every corner... in a world where people are killing children at schools... bombing cities and driving drunk... the last thing you want to do is go to dinner and be treated poorly. I honestly regret coming back here. Never again.More

A nineteen dollar stone cold cheeseburger with an enormous bun and lukewarm french fries. Two servers who either forgot or ignored our request for lemon and spicy mustard. A host who held up his hand near my face like a cop when we suggested that...there were several tables and booths were available. Four people at the host stand when we left fifty bucks lighter in the wallet, none of whom spoke to us, much less asked us to return. This Atlanta icon was known for years for reasonable prices, really good food and excellent service. Not anymore. I would rather go to Waffle House and be ignored but pay one fourth of what I did today for hot food prepared the way I asked for it. I do NOT recommend this restaurant. They have dropped the ball in the end zone in the final seconds of the game. Shame, shame, shame.More

By no means are we regulars but we both agreed our visit last night was far different than previous occasions. The menu seemed to be scaled down and the food that was presented did not live up to our expectations. We will consider dining elsewhere...before coming back for another visit. Alie was our server and did a very nice job, the one positive to the evening.More

I first ate at Houston’s in a different location, that has since closed. That location had great ambiance, service, and food quality. This one is meh at best! We keep getting gift cards to here so we keep going but we would not go here...ever if not for the gift cards! The servers we have had in the downtown Atlanta location seem to be not at all interested in their guests anytime we have visited. Truly, the only person on staff who is exemplary is the bartender! He has been amazing every time! Maybe the wait staff feel that since they serve at a restaurant already well known and admired, they don’t have to provide decent service? Maybe the management is just terrible and not supportive to their wait staff. Whatever the reason, the service is subpar. I think they try to make their menu unique but everything I have ordered has not been of culinary excellence or even an enjoyable culinary experience. Their menu is honestly terrible! It’s haphazard and there is no cohesiveness. I even tried their sushi and the sushi at Benihana’s surpasses theirs! When I ordered their famous rotisserie chicken, it was actually bloody…bright red, leaking on the plate bloody! The manager then actually argued with me; treating me like I was ignorant and telling me that they temp check every chicken! That’s great but it didn’t stop the chicken from bleeding on my plate! He actually seemed mad that he had to come over to our table! I have over 20 years in F&B (including fine dining restaurants in Charleston, SC) and can not even begin to imagine a manager feeling that entitled! The bar drinks are ridiculously overpriced! The restaurant I worked at in Charleston had such a wonderful wine list that it was featured in Wine Spectator! The wine and alcohol list here is comically inadequate! When you go into a restaurant, you know that the wine and cocktails will be marked up and you’re paying for the experience but since Houston’s has subpar wines and overpriced cocktails using house liquors and the experience is not enjoyable, it isn’t worth it to drink here. And finally, ambiance…it isn’t terrible. We went one evening and there was live jazz and the booth we were in felt intimate. If it wasn’t for their bartender, the ambiance, their spinach dip and their French Dip sandwich, I would have given 1 star.More

We used to eat at Houston's years ago and it was good. Food was better than average...service was incredible and the price was a little higher than some but not anything outrageous. Their potato soup was the best and the Hawaiin ribeye was unlike any...other steak around, but things have changed....oh and the ribs were good too, but now.....there is no comparison. The menu has been reduced to one page...only a few offerings and the Hawaiin ribeye is now $44.00, which if it was outstanding and included a baked potato would have been acceptable. There are no baked potatoes listed on the menu...they offer corn or fries and broccoli. I didn't order the steak because I didn't want to take a chance on it not living up to it's prior taste and quality. So, we ordered a hamburger that was mostly lettuce and bread and the burger itself no thicker than a Wendy's single. The fries were not hot and looked like they came from Krystal. A few salads to choose from and a seafood item or two. No potato soup, at least not on Friday and while the service was adequate the food just didn't deserve the price tag it had on it. I'm assuming people go to Houston's for drinks rather than food and since the drink menu was as large as the food menu I think I might be right. I'd much rather go to Papadeaux's and spend my money to enjoy decent food. Houston's chicken sandwich looked more like a club sandwich, since the chicken was about the thickness of a slice of cheese. I was looking forward to good food, but was sorely disappointed. Too many better places to eat in Atlanta. Just my opinionMore

I've been eating at Houston's since it opened 30+ years ago. Before I went into the airline business, I was in the foodservice equipment and supply business. Because my clients were restaurants, hotels, etc., I couldn't review anything. Now, I can tell the reader exactly...what I think of a restaurant. Houston's has always been a favorite. Every restaurant will have those "off days" but I've never had poor service or a bad meal that hasn't been corrected immediately if I notified my server of an issue. On this visit, I was exhausted from flying all day. I wanted a steak and a baked potato...bad! I wasn't disappointed with a glass of Malbec, a Hawaiian rib eye and a loaded baked potato.More

We met for a lunch that had been put off for months due to Covid. We were then hurried out the door as they made an effort to clean off our table and set the plates for the next client after us. They obviously knew...some clients and accommodated them for a leisurely lunch without interruption. Totally embarrassing for the manager to personally come over and ask us to leave. I will not be going there again. They were very accommodating of the folks who arrived in the Rolls.More

We had a 7:15 PM reservation and were finally seated at 8:05PM. The hostess and managers seem to seat their friends or who knows - we have been patrons for more than 15 years! I see several disappointed reviews below and totally agree. They have...people standing in the bar area with no masks on - so if you have one of the tables either below the bar or in the bar, you will be exposed to many people with no masks. They had a police officer standing near the bar so clearly they have had some sort of incident there, but he wasn't wearing a mask either. I think he should be out in the parking lot where cars get broken into on a regulars' basis. This is not an inexpensive meal if you have wine, an appetizer and entrees. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else where the wait is shorter, and you get what you pay for.More

I've gone to Houston's in Atlanta for over 35 years. Sad to say, this might be my last time. I have always liked their high standards, and almost arrogance in the their adherence to arbitrary "rules" they have. Today, I realized their high standards are...to suit their circumstances. No COVID precautions. I saw the waitress just wipe off the menus with a dirty rag. Really? You can't just hand people disposable menus? No social distancing guidelines. But God forbid you ask for decaf coffee or fries to go.....then you get the answer that they can't do that because it doesn't suit Houston's standards. The restaurant was also dirty. Sad.More

I've sadly see this restaurant take a steep decline in overall experience in the last few years and especially since Covid. This used to be a place where everyone knew your name, dress code was adhered to, and the staff was incredibly gracious. This is...no more. I have had multiple terrible experiences in the past year and will not be going back. My extended family, friends and I have been loyal patrons since this restaurants opened. Now most staff I encounter is rude, and the food is overpriced for that kind of service and beyond casual attire/atmosphere.More

Short and sweet! Those of you who know this restaurant will understand. They NO LONGER offer the prime rib ...shocker! Not only do they still have a limited menu, but they CHANGED the Cesar salad. No longer is it prepared with Romain lettuce as every...Cesar does, but now they prepare it with, I guess, Kale......and corn in it. It's terrible to say the least. Who's bright idea was that??? Thats like saying they changed their roast beef to being prepared with fish! Not happy! Beware those of you that things have changed and not to the good. BRING BACK THE TRADITIONAL CESAR and Prime Rib. Don't change what makes you $$.More

Just returned from lunch today, we sat in the bar area, there was a problem with my Hawaiian steak, a bit on the fatty side, but after eating the "meaty" part, I just casually mentioned this to my server, she asked what I'd like to...have instead, I said that's okay, just wanted to let you know...no need for anything else. Well, when she returned with the check, and without my asking, they'd removed the entire steak-charge from our bill. WOW! What service! Now I remember why it's one of my favorite dining spots in Atlanta!More
