Food was very good. Some of the best hand battered onion rings I have had in a while. Watched them make the batch of onion rings while I waited. The location by the river is great. The kids had a great time beating the heat wading in the water (the adults did too)

Nice array of menu items in a naugahyde-boothed eatery beside the River. Nice swings and you could take your meal to picnic beside the river. Polite help at the order window; self-service; reasonable prices and good for families with children.

A local shopkeeper recommended White Cottage to us when we asked for a suggestion of a casual place to eat. We were traveling with our dog, so a place with outdoor seating was especially nice. She told us the fish & chips at White Cottage were "a-mazing" so that's what my husband and I both ordered. They were a great... More

We chose this place based on previous reviews and had a mixed experience. I ordered the seafood chowder $4.95 and a medium sized fried belly clams $15.95 and they both were excellent and the chowder tasted homemade. However my wife order the clam chowder $3.95 which tasted like poor quality canned soup and the clam strips $5.95 which tasted like... More

The owner of our Country Inn suggested this very casual place for seafood chowder and fresh cooked fish sandwiches. The cook/owner came out to talk to us and assured us it was fresh and homemade. Very good!! We sat outside later on the glider picnic tables along the scenic river. What a way to start our vacation.

Their fried fish dinner is also a to die for meal. The owners rebuilt after Hurricane Irene devastated the restaurant back in 2011. What a sad sight that was. Folks in Woodstock would be lost without this restaurant.

I had fried clams which I love and they were to die for! Our family had everything from fish and chips to burgers and fries. Followed by ice cream, frappes and banana splits. FANTASTIC--Located off main road in front of a river with beautiful views and wonderful green lawn to picnic on. Many people wading in the water especially children,... More

We stopped here for an inexpensive dinner. It was a busy place. Many people stopping for ice cream. Food was good.

My oldest daughter has a ranking of milkshakes and I like to rank my French fries. This place fell way short on the ranking today. According to my daughter, the best milkshake is found at Tozziers in Bethel. We traveled cross country last year, her second ranked milkshake is in New Mexico, take her rankings seriously if you like the... More

We decided to come to the White Cottage Snack Bar after reading about them in a Vermont Explorer's Guide. We knew they were legendary in the area and that they had sustained heavy damage during Hurricane Irene. We wanted to come to show support for their rebuild. We ordered at the window from a very nice and welcoming gentleman. I... More

Twice named one of the top 150 burger joints in the US and the only one in Vermont, White Cottage is Open early May to Columbus Day. We are a traditional dairy bar and lots more! Located one mile west of town on Rt 4, we serve char broiled burgers, homemade onion rings, great sandwiches, fresh whole belly clams, Maine lobster salad rolls, fresh crisp salads and 30 flavors of ice cream. Our customers also enjoy steamed Maine lobster dinners on the weekends in the summer. Sit outside at one of our many picnic tables overlooking the Ottauquechee River (Moms bring the towels and bathing suits -the kids are going in!) At White Cottage, we've got something for everyone!

Phone orders always welcome. We are fully handicapped accessible.
