Between six of us we ordered about a dozen dishes, including apps and dinners. Each one was perfectly cooked and gorgeously flavored. Chef David did a phenomenal job of amending all dishes for our dietary restrictions (including celiac and allergies) and still ensuring delicious-ness in...each bite. My son's only regret was that "the meal was so good I couldn't help but eat too much!' PS. Due to Covid we ordered takeout (which re-heated nicely) so I can't make any commentary about the atmosphere of the restaurant.More

This was one of the best meals we have ever had, and it was made even more special as it was Valentines Day and we hadn’t eaten inside a restaurant in months. Our son had visited Puerto Rico exactly a year ago on a service...trip and was so thankful to have authentic Puerto Rican food. In addition to the amazing food, the service was superb. We don’t live in the area but if we return we will absolute visit Melaza again!More

A weeks trip during the pandemic had us get some takeout from this place. Very good food, very flavorful, and a variety of gluten-free options. The highlight was the plantain cups filled with jerk pork. Just incredibly flavorful, chewy and crunchy plantain dough and yummy...sweet pork filling. Beef empanadas were also good. The main entree of sea scallops in a risotto had a delightfully sweet, citrusy/pineapple touch that has really good with the scallops. We also had a chicken sofrito, very tasty “comfort food” full of flavor and hearty portions. Well recommended !More

Restaurant was a lifesaver as no restaurants were open on Mondays and we had no reservations. We had the scallops and jerk chicken. Both were really good. Nice atmosphere. Only one waitress and she did a great job.

On our long weekend in the Woodstock area we dropped by here for a Saturday evening meal. Although the food and service were quite good, especially the Cuban sandwich, the drinks left a lot to be desired. Both the Mojito and the rum punch drinks...were barely passable and we quickly moved to a wine thereafter. A nice setting and very comfortable....More

Just really liked this restaurant. Our hosts at The Village Inn of Woodstock made this choice and reservation for us and we couldn't be more pleased with their selection. The Filet Mignon was the best we've had and the service was wonderful. Covid 19 procedures...were in place and we felt very comfortable dining here. Margaritas were excellent also.More

I could have started at the top of the dinner and cocktail menus and tried everything. It all reads that good. Then I entered Melaza and had "Under the Sea" from the "Little Mermaid" in the background and the gloves came off. I had to...start ordering everything. I started with the Melaza Punch and my husband had the Guavatini. The Punch is not overly sweet, so try it. It's like sitting on the beach. The hubs is more of a dirty martini guy, so the Guavatini actually was perfect for him. It had just a little bit of sweetness. And the Caribbean music in the background continued... We also ordered the Plantain Cups and the Plantain Crisp & Fresh Guacamole. I don't know how these guys cook their pork, but I cook have just sat there and eaten a dozen of the Plantain Cups. The pork is so moist and yummy. For dinner, we split the Annatto Rice & Pulled Chicken Sofrito and ordered the beef Empanadas. They some two to an order, so it was easy to split them. At the end of the weekend, I need to teleport Melaza to Massachusetts or be able to teleport myself back to Vermont on occasion. There's not enough of this sort of quality comfort food in my back yard.More

Service was great, the drinks were excellent and we enjoyed the plantain chips with fresh guacamole. Outdoor dining was an option.

Creative latin fusion fare on the Main Street in Woodstock. Tables were spaced apart appropriately for the COVID-19 pandemic. The Mojito Fresco was excellent, and the food items were creative adaptation of Caribbean/Cuban cuisine. The vegetarian empanadas and Sandwich Cubano were outstanding. Service was friendly,...timely and attentive. Overall a good dining experience at reasonable prices.More

Great food! We experienced responsive booking staff for our reservation which ended in a memorable birthday dinner! We had dinner with an appetizer and dessert along with drinks and the bill was reasonable at under $100 for two. The outdoor backyard dining area with music...was a welcomed change to eating on the somewhat busy street.More
