Had dinner at the Red Rooster. Asked to be seated out on porch. Inside too loud. View was beautiful. Cocktails nice. Service just ok as well as over priced food. Menu doesn't wow. Husband had duck wasn't impressed. I had mushroom salad kind of bland.

This was our first visit to the Woodstock Inn, and while we loved the whole experience, the red rooster really stood out as the highlight. The food is fantastic (be sure to try the fondue and the duck), the atmosphere pleasant and the staff wonderful. We particularly enjoyed chatting with hostess Katie and manager Mark. Both were so kind and... More

We had a family get together at this recently revamped restaurant in the Woodstock Inn. The views from vegan to meat-eating family were unanimous in their praise for the quality of the appetizers and entrees. One of the best meals in Southern Vermont.

My wife and I have stayed at the Woodstock Inn and eaten at the Red Rooster many times in the past (the last time about a year ago when the restaurant was very good as usual). We were very pleasantly surprised by tonight's meal which was truly extraordinary! The ingredients, preparation, and presentation of our dishes easily matched those of... More

Thank you so much for your loyalty over the years and for the very kind words about our Red Rooster Restaurant! I’m happy to hear you enjoyed the execution, ambience, and our new summer menu which features local products so prominently, uses so many ingredients from our own organic Kelly Way Gardens, and offers what I like to call farm-to-table-today... A nice meal in a historic inn setting. The food was very traditional and the menu was limited, but the staff was friendly and very accommodating to a gluten free diet. Based on other reviews and our own limited experience...there are more interesting restaurants not too far away.

The food here was outstanding! We had a scallops and a salad appetizer of some sort, both delicious. Then we had the halibut and tuna loin appetizers. The poached halibut in a fish broth was a really great seafood dish. Tuna loin was also really great. Desserts and wine were both fantastic as well. If you are staying at the... More

We had the extreme displeasure of dining here on the evening of Saturday, May 30, 2016. The last time we were in Woodstock, we stayed at this Inn and dined at this fine dining restaurant and it was excellent---that is why we decided to return. This time, we had the worst meal ever---now it should be called "slop dining". I... More

We did not stay at the Woodstock Inn because it frankly is a little beyond on pocketbook. But we did go for drinks and dinner. The drinks were made to perfection and the ambience at the Woodstock is just beautiful. The restaurant is not as elaborate as the Inn's furnishings but the food was delicious. I highly recommend the lamb.... More

We went to the Woodstock Inn for our 30th wedding anniversary on 5/26. We had been there a few times before and it was wonderful. Last night, not so much. The warm Brussel sprout/wild mushroom appetizer was interesting, but way too salty; the lamb was tender, but bland and the tomato mixture it sat on tasted like tomato paste; the... More
