Best seafood restaurant in the Obala region!
We've eaten here a couple of times already and I must say the quality of food and service is consistent and never disappoints.
This time we came for late lunch on a Sunday afternoon, the restaurant was full - you need a reservation, especially on a lovely sunny weekend. We opted for sea bass carpaccio, scampi tartar, octopus salad and fish brodetto soup for starters, daily fresh grilled sea bass and beefsteak for mains and a platter of different dessert to share.
My thoughts (each time): great presentation of food cooked to perfection; service run by very knowledgeable people who take the time explaining each dish; cozy and intimate atmosphere; reasonably priced... there's not much more to desire. Highly recommended!

It was late lunch time on a Saturday, the restaurant was busy and we didn't have a reservation. Did they have room for us? Wait a minute please. A quick chat with colleagues and yes they did have a table if we didn't mind sitting in the back section that didn't have the view over the marina and the harbour. Answer - not at all.
There was an A La Carte menu plus options of four (EUR46 per person), five (EUR52) or six courses, the latter with matching wines, at EUR90. Not unexpectedly the menu choices were heavily seafood orientated but, appeared to us, to be reasonably priced.
As entrees we had the Seabass carpaccio and the prawn/scampi tartar. Both good although I thought the scampi had an overly saltwater taste.
We both had the risotto with scampi which was very tasty. Dessert was gelato (EUR5 per portion).
Wine list was not extensive but appeared to cover a broad range of grape varieties. We had a local chardonnay (Marjan Simic) which was good and was only EUR30 a bottle.
Overall with water and service charge the bill was only EUR120.50 which we thought was very reasonable.
Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Since the lunch from a year ago had remained imprinted in our minds, we returned for dinner a few evenings ago. The quality of the dishes, the service and the atmosphere remain truly at the highest levels, the place confirmed everything that had positively impressed us the first time. The price is obviously proportionate to what was ordered and enjoyed, it varies a lot (as in all places of a certain level) on the type and quantity of wine brought to the table... personally I find the quality/price ratio very, very interesting

Ended up in this restaurant on recommendation. Already eaten several times in star restaurants at home, so there were some expectations and especially curious what a star restaurant means in Slovenia.
Friendly welcome, unfortunately on arrival the waiter walks into our table and all glasses fall to the ground. They dealt with this rather casually, and cleaned up the largest pieces, the rest remained (which I then did away with myself).
We chose the menu, with different fish dishes each time. Everything was taken care of, nice portions and tasty without further ado. The accompanying wines were always a very good choice.
Nice location to sit, on the terrace near the harbor. But a little crowded, and noisy terrace. you're not really sitting quietly, either that was up to the audience of this evening.
Resume: tasty without a doubt, well cared for, service was friendly but could perhaps be a bit more accurate. We expected a little more of it;

After the great reviews, we were looking forward to an extraordinary dinner - and unfortunately were disappointed. The appetizers (scallops & a type of fish tartare) were ok, but without any sophistication.
The ordered sea bass was no longer available, but we got 2 fillets with vegetable and potato side dish. The fillets just lay on the plate, without sauce, without everything. Not even the “usual” lemon carving was there. Everybody can do that, you don't need a chef. Even the vegetable side dish would have been better prepared by a Pro.
Unfortunately, the service also matched the food. Everything was friendly but slow. The main course was served, although the starter plates were still on the table.
How such a (hotel) restaurant is regularly awarded at this level by the Michelin & Gault & Millot guide is a mystery to us.

We enjoyed a 4-course menu in the restaurant and were consistently very satisfied from the starter to the dessert. Also to mention positively is the service staff who offer an excellent service even when the restaurant is full. The wine selection offers a good selection locally as well as internationally.

On an unseasonably hot October day we stopped at the Marina for lunch. It seems that Izola is the main fishing port on the Slovenian coast. We were warmly welcomed and introduced to the delicacies on the menu. There were many other diners enjoying the sunny terrace with glimpses of the harbour and the old town centre. We decided to go for cream soup with shrimps and lobster, which was very tasty. Then, although the fish dihes looked good, we didn't have huge appetites so we opted for desserts. Both the chocolate cake and the chocolate soufflé were extremely delicious and served in large portions, so we didn't leave hungry and the bill was quite light too! The Michelin star is not surprising for such good food. Recommended.

If you are craving a sofisticate seafood restaurant with a stunning view this is the place for you. The staff is super friendly and very attentive. The food is divine, from the quality of the ingredients, to the presentation. Definitely the best restaurant on the Slovenian coast.

We stopped for lunch during a fast visit to Izola. We didn't book a table, but the waiter was welcoming us and in few minutes prepared a table on the terrace.
We didn't want any big meal, so we just ordered fried calamari and another dish. The calamari were perfect, golden fried, light and definitely fresh. And also the other dish was nice: sea bream fillet with almonds, and fried octopus, with chard with potatoes and root vegetable puree.
We appreciated that the chef brought the dishes to the table, and to other tables too he carefully explained some dishes.
The terrace it's very comfortable, there was a lovely breeze.
Since it was for a fast lunch at 13:30 we didn't expect to sit more than one and half hours at the table, I don't know if it's always like that or if something happened on that day.
But the lunch was definitely good and everyone kind and professional, so I wouldn't make a big problem of it.
I hope to come back again, but I'll count to have some more time.

Trully a wonderful restaurant. All the dishes were amazing in taste as well as in presentation and a member of staff cleaned the fish to perfection. The staff was attentive and friendly, although it seems they were a bit understaffed as, at points, we had to wait longer than usual. Well worth the visit, if you are nearby and looking for a place to go, this is definitely it!

I have eaten here several times in the past and have usually been very satisfied. This time I was rather disappointed. My mixed fish starter was, however very good and my husbands scallops were fine if a little over-gratinated. The big disappointment was the pasta with lobster for two. This has been excellent in the past but the lobster this time was hard to find. To pay 46 euros for what was, by and large, pasta with tomato sauce and a hint of lobster is overpriced. I can only comment on what we ate so this is a dish to avoid.

We had high expectations due to a wonderful experience last year. First, the positive. The food was, as always, excellent. The service was satisfactory.
We were disappointed a bit with the menu offering (sunmer 2023). It seemed less and confusingly placed all over the menu. The wonderful deserts disappeared all-together. Also, it seems that they no longer produce/promote a wonderful olive oil they had last year. There was a novelty, 5 seasonal foods, but it does not replace the old offering I’d say.

Simply the best local cuisine, seafood restaurant in nice setting accompanied by great wine list and well trained and knowledgeable staff. It is an experience to try most of the menu items, because everything is local, fresh and well prepared. Chef Ivek is on artistic side of head chefs, but you can feel, see and taste his passion for perfect plate every time. Be sure to reserve in advance as it is often fully booked, take your time to indulge in a nice scenery right in the middle of the harbor. We always enjoy sea bass carpaccio, any pasta of the menu, whole fish in the oven etc etc. Really proud actually we have a restaurant like that in my hometown. We will be frequenting this place even more often now in summer months. Thank you all for great service and great cuisine. Keep up the great work

Our experience was great. The staff is super nice and professional, the service attentive and the food was out of this world. We all agreed that each individual plate was one of the best dishes we ever had. Reservation needed.

We tried our luck without a reservation. Unfortunately there was only one free seat inside, but it was also very nice. So if you really want to sit outside, I would recommend making a reservation. The food was very, very tasty, the service was nice, it was just perfect all round. The price-performance ratio was definitely OK!!!
