Fun Pub Atmosphere, Brit-themed, Comfort Food & Drinkd

It was hopping on Valentines Day and mighty cold outside. It was a little dark but friendly. My wife had a hot adult beverage with whipped cream on top but I just had a bread pudding with drizzle of chocolate and whipped cream. Service was fine with a lot of hustle. Decor was arresting with lots of mugs and Beatles era Liverpool memorabilia.

Consistently on point service and food

I live on Franklin Street near Penny Lane Pub. Thus it has become one of my favorite places to go. The Happy Hour is very reasonable and the servers are friendly and nice. My favorite dish is the Fish and Chips and is a great value for the price. Last night I had the Pita/Hummus plate which was delicious. The service and the food are consistently on point.

PHENOMENAL Fish and Chips

This place is a hidden pub gem. It really comes across as an Irish pub. The amount of fish with their fish and chips is phenomenal, and it was absolutely delicious. If nothing else, go there for the fish and chips. The service was friendly too, even though they were packed on a Sunday for lunch.

Come for the beer leave before the food

Ordered cheese waffle fries. Cheese was canned Mexican cheese and actually very spicy. Nothing mentioned spice and person eating couldn’t eat them. Panini sandwich was very bad. Almost burnt but a rancid oil taste. Pastrami over cooked almost burnt and dry. Chicken sandwich was ok but slightly burnt and dry as well. The place is adorable and if you’re a football ⚽️fan great place. But don’t recommend the food.

Penny Lane is fine for a quick drop in but definitely not a destination establishment. The server was lukewarm at best. She seemed to not care about anything. The chicken sandwich was dry and had burnt breading. The fish and chips were not good at all. They use swai fish which is not traditional at all. The breading was mushy and did not stick to the fish. The tartar sauce was not good, it didn’t taste fresh. To top it all off, the beer was not very cold.

Waited forty minutes was never served, upset non-customer

Their hostess completely ignored me and asked those people behind me how many were in their party. I told her I was next in line. Then I was informed that I could get a seat, but no food for about 40 minutes. As I was waiting along with another table, she came back and said to us, "We haven't forgot about you, we're just ignoring you." I thought she was kidding. Big mistake, several people left without being served. I was an upset non-customer.

Fantastic

Great menu, great food, fantastic service. Went in on a Sunday for lunch and it was great. Server (female from South Africa) was genuine and personable. We've been to the UK several times, and the decor/atmosphere was spot on. 100% satisfied, and will be back....and we don't even live local.

Great night out

Stopped here on the way home to hear a friends group play. The Clay Motley band was super. We stopped here with my son and daughter-in-law for a little while after dinner. Lots of friends were there too! Music was great and not too loud. Sat at the bands table with all the people we knew. Since we had just eaten dinner, we opted for some drinks only. Stayed longer than we expected because it was just a nice place and everyone was having a super time. Service was great, and the ones that got food, well the pizza looked amazing. You have to go and see for yourself.

English style pub. Good food. Fun decor.

Ex-pat, so I know my fish and chips and these are on the better end. Fish read good. Chips as good as can be expected(some thing about US potatoes). Curry was tasty. I'm medium tikka in UK and felt in I could have had the hotter UK version. Small inside and they've made the effort to make it an English pub. Little cheesey but fun none the less. Would recommend.

Great authentic pub meal

This was a complete accident. We were tired and wanted to eat near the hotel and just stumbled in to Penny Lane. Having lived in England for years, we never seem to fine a "true" pub here but Penny Lane was a great surprise. We shared the fish and chips and loved it! They have a great list of proper beers and the service is so nice. Its casual and affordable, We'll be back for sure

A fantastic place

We happened to stumble upon this place when walking back from a museum visit and I am so happy we did! The food was great, the service stellar and the décor was very interesting. I had the fish and chips and it was a great portion size. Not overly impressed with the canned peas but that is just me.

Awesome Place

We loved it so much, we went twice. The food is delicious and the place itself was excellent. Wonderful staff plus a vast beer menu. The Steak and Guinness Pie is to die for. We'll definitely come again the next time we are there.

As you would expect, the Fish N Chips is good

Everything you expect in a British pub. Lots of great British beers on tap, and they do a nice job on most of the pub classics like fish & chips and meat pies. I try to drop in for a pint whenever I'm in town. I recommend you give them a try if you like British beer and hearty pub food.

Great food!

What a great place to eat. The fish and chips was great, according to two of my friends. I went with the London Broil and darn near ordered a second it was soooo good! The waiter was great! What a personable guy! I'll gladly go back!

Foreigner visitors do not attend

Foreign visitors do not visit ! Was very disappointed! - as a Liverpool fan and from the local area of Liverpool, was very excited when we found this pub! However when we arrived we were extremely disappointed to not be let in. Although we had visited 3 other bars and a comedy club beforehand we were told we were not aloud to enter with a British ID, we were told this was a law which we understand, however it was the way the man checking the ID spoke to us was extremely rude and patronising, he could not understand that we didn’t know this was a law considering we had been out to various bars within the area . And been to 11 states previously and had no issue. We tried to express we found this very ironic considering it was a British style bar that wouldn’t accept British ID. We asked if we could show a picture of our passport alongside our ID in which the man continued to be condescending. It was a very unwelcoming environment. However on a good note a nice girl with blonde curly hair was outside having a fag break and also found the situation very ironic and humorous and explained things in a much nicer and clearer way.
