Shrimp was cooked perfectly, and we had the broiled and butterflied. Crab cake was only a mere disappointment considering it is winter, and I'm a purist, so I like for the crabmeat to take center stage like Chesapeake style I grew up on. But the cornbread was excellent, and the cabbage a true delight! Cheesy ranch grits were also very... More

Our dinner proportions were huge that the majority in the family took good because we could eat it all. Service was good and attentive. Yes, this is traditional soul food but done well. I'd go back.

I felt so at home here. The staff was extremely friendly and the food was absolutely amazing! 10 out of 10. If you love soul food and are in the Richmond area this place is a must visit! I definitely will be coming back

I've listened to people rave about this restaurant for the last 3 years and when I made my way back to Richmond I decided to give it a try; I was unimpressed. The staff members were friendly however our server was too pushy when my husband asked to substitute his potatoes for another side. If he wanted another side it... More

This is the place for fried fish, sweet cornbread, onions/peppers and potatoes. Big meal when you buy the 2 piece fish dinner or lunch.

Located in the downtown area of Richmond. My first visit, I went for a late lunch on a business trip, weekday. This place was referred by a friend. Metered parking was easy along the street, a block away. The staff was very attentive. I ordered the fried oyster dinner, served with grits and cabbage with a side of cornbread, which... More

Will definitely be back to partake in other dishes. At first I thought the prices were high for a soulfood local spot. But the quantity and the quality was worth the price in my opinion. Both will rival a fine downtown restaurant. I especially enjoyed the cheese grits and fried shrimp. My only disappointment, no collard greens or yams at... More

I decided to take my mother to the Croaker Spot for lunch on Saturday, October 29, 2016. We arrived at about 2:30 pm. I ordered the special which consisted of 3 fried chicken wings, collard greens, potato salad and dinner rolls for $16.99. The food portions were large. I could have easily shared my meal with someone else or asked... More

I must say that I was thoroughly impressed with the Croaker Spot restaurant. The seafood was perfectly fried, the grits creamy, and the cornbread had just the right amount of sweetness. During my time in Virginia, I must've visited several times. Food and wait staff second to none.
