We were in Richmond for one night so started looking around and ended up at Bookbinder's because of the large outdoor patio and neat history of the restaurant. It was a bit chilly but the brick walls and outdoor heaters made it comfortable. There is...also plenty of indoor, socially distanced seating. The waiter was knowledgeble and friendly. My husband ordered a glass of wine and he suggested he order something else. I always appreciate the honesty! The food was fantastic. We could not decide on the soup so the waiter brough us a small sample of each to taste. I am not a cheescake fan but it was great. The service, atmosphere and food make this restaurant a winner! .More

We dined here last night and the food and service was wonderful. We split the recommended tuna appetizer and were not disappointed. The sauce was smoking hot but tasty. I had the seafood sampler of oysters, shrimp and jumbo lump crab. The oysters were fresh...and cold but the shrimp was a little overcooked. The crab was okay and tasted old. My wife had the filet mignon and mashed potatoes which she enjoyed. Our server was excellent.More

Upon arrival for our reservation (reservations required) we were greeted by the owner who then introduced us to his wife and showed us to our table. Our server gave impeccable service, making recommendations and serving with care and excellence. The food was delicious and the...dessert was absolutely amazing! I had the chocolate pate. It was decadently rich, offset by berries and topped off with whipped cream. Our favorite son-in-law had the creme brulee prepared by the French chef. It was beyond delicious. It wasn't inexpensive, but the service and food was unsurpassed.More

Reserved a booth for two to celebrate wedding anniversary. Seated immediately and it took a few minutes for waiter to greet us. Ordered soups (arrived within 5 minutes, piping hot) and entrees served soon after - filet was exceptional, crab cakes delicious, stuffed salmon was...tasty, and baked potato large enough for 2 or 3 people. Owner stopped by, very friendly, offered to take photo to memorialize occasion. Overall a great place to dine and we’ll definitely return in the future.More

So good on every level; we ate dinner here two of the three nights while in Richmond, including July 4. Why we loved it: -restaurant made us feel safe: all servers wearing mask, social distancing between tables, rolled utensils in napkins. -Great service both nights:...Mark and Jessica. Felt so welcomed. -Manager, Jeannette, checking on guests to ensure everyone was satisfied. All too often, this is missing from restaurant hospitality and it was greatly appreciated. She has a passion for guests & the restaurant. -Fresh seafood and fiancé loved his steak. -Excellent wine list and Unshackled Cabernet Sauvignon by the glass - delicious! -the BREAD - serious sourdough. warm. and great salted butter. That gets me every time! Easy to walk from where we were staying too - what a treat. And very nice to have those Andes Mints on the way out - one of my favorites!More

We usually go to Bookbinders for a special occasion. We celebrated a birthday and were not disappointed. Our server (Tim) was very helpful in selecting wine and his service was excellent the whole time. We enjoyed the Silver Dollar Mushrooms and Caesar Salad before cutting...into our grilled to perfection Filets. COVID restrictions were in place and staff minimized the impact on the customers. It was a wonderful meal and a special night out. We look forward to our next special occasion at Bookbinders.More

Lots of special touches including a personalized birthday menu on the table....The owner even took a selfie with us at the “selfie station.”More

While they probably allow anything, you may feel uncomfortable or out of place if you do not spruce up a little bit as most clients are in business casual. Jeans would be ok I bet, but would avoid looking tattered. The... More
