Along with many in an enthusiastic crowd we enjoyed artful Sunday afternoon dining while visiting several art exhibits at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. We got hungry somehow from all the walking and viewing and enjoyed the pause, the ambience, the food and service. All done in great taste. Reservations a must on busy weekends.

After a late night, on a gorgeous Saturday morning my husband and I headed to VMFA for an early lunch and a few hours with its collections. We discovered Amuse, where we were immediately seated at a table with lovely views of the museum's grounds through wrap-around floor-to-ceiling windows. Much of the food and drink is locally sourced, and includes... More

Been here only once and the mussels were excellent. Very nice meal after a visit to the exhibits. Bright and good views.

On a cloudy Tuesday, this glass-enclosed space simply and tastefully decorated with Saarinen tulip tables, with a view of sculpture and fountains, made for a lovely setting for lunch. The waitperson was knowledgeable about gluten-free options and steered me to some good selections of pumpkin bisque, seared scallops, and a "to-die-from" wonderful chocolate pate. A selection of 10 or so... More

My husband and I spent the morning in the museum admiring and learning from a photography special exhibit. Then we headed for Amuse, one of our favorite Richmond fine dining restaurants, for lunch. We had a table by the window. The panoramic view of the lawn and historic buildings and Chihuly's bright red glass spikes in the sculpture garden pond... More

Once again we traveled to Richmond, VA. (about 70 miles) to check out the Fine Arts & Flowers Exhibition. While there we had lunch at the Amuse Restaurant which is always different and exceptional. This time I enjoyed Shrimp and Grits (topped with eatable flowers). A little pricey, but well worth it. Service was great. You couldn't want for anything... More

The food is good but there are few menu choices. It's in a beautiful setting of a terrific art museum. However, it's only open on Friday and Saturday evening. The wine was way over-priced. I had an excellent appetizer of curried oysters. My crab cakes were good but they sat in very shallow flat dish of chowder, which tasted like... More

Museum restaurants can disappoint, but Amuse delights! It's easy to see why reservations are needed on busy days: There isn't a ton off seating, but that allows the chef to focus on the food, which is very good. Pumpkin soup with a drizzle of balsamic and slivers of what tasted like candied bacon is the stuff of Fall dreams. The... More

Who knew? A museum restaurant could be so good! We attended a lecture at VMFA and decided to try the restaurant afterward. The setting is beutiful with a glass wall looking out onto the museum grounds, tables on the outdoor balcony and elegant settings. We shared the fried oyster appetizer that had a very tasty sauce. My wife had the... More

Our Easter brunch was extended to a day long event! The selections are very interesting -- it was so hard to choose! Service was top shelf and the food was yummy. I had some champagne and due to a mix up on our order, the chef sent another glass -- yum! We then spent the rest of the day in... More
