This place has some of the best sashimi and sushi. The prices are good as well. The only thing I don't particularly find great is the atmosphere. You are kind of in a basement. However, still worth going.

I loved the rolls they offer. By far, I recommend the chicken tempura. It is the best tempura roll I’ve tried!
On a busy Saturday night we were hungry. The restaurant was full of young people and noisy but a good atmosphere. The service was good and the food good. Both sashimi and tempura were delicious. The Korean dishes were also good.
On a chilly afternoon, we were hungry for some hot and spicy Korean. Takemura didn't disappoint. We had kimchi chi-gae and tofu-veggie dul sot bibimpop. Both were perfect!
The dishes are just amazing, so well constructed and tasty...beautiful plate arrangement makes the meal feel even more appealing.
A group of 9 musicians grouped a couple of tables and ordered. I got spicy beef udon noodles. The broth was flavorful and spicy . The beef was tender but fatty, noodles plain but I didn't like the blob of seaweed on the side. Pretty...expensive, given the contents.More
There was only one server who was friendly, but when we went, we were the only party in the restaurant. The food was bland, and was simply subpar. Have tried way better elsewhere.
Just some steps away from Harvard Square this small japanese restaurant is truly gem! Amazing and fresh japanese food!!
I haven't been to the Takemura in a while, although I used to come here all the time. I remember the place as reliable without being remarkable. Last week, a good friend (who used to come here with me) and I had the Duk Mandoo...Guk (rice cakes with dumplings in broth) for lunch. The service was fine, and people were friendly enough, but my friend and I agreed that this was the most disappointing interpretation of this common dish that we'd ever had-- skimpy and somewhat insipid. The little side dishes, which are normally included, were also missing. I hope this experience was an anomaly, but it will be some time before I go back to confirm this.More
We had a very nice dinner at Takemura, as always. We've been here many times and always enjoyed it. Tonight we had the shrimp tempura, which was crisp, light and delicious, and the Nabeyaki Udon, which was huge and excellent.
Harvard lacks a good Japanese restaurant, but we likely will not return here. Your experience will vary greatly depending on what your order, however. The sushi is fine, but not exceptional. The gyoza were excellent. I suspect they make them on site. My seafood udon...was not very good. Bland broth, seafood not fresh, and frankly it was overpriced. Someone else had a (Bulgoki) Korean beef dish that was good, but is widely available.More
I have only tried the vegan sushi rolls but they were absolutely great. I can especially recommend the sweet potato rolls. The staff is friendly and it's a really quiet restaurant, great if you want to talk or study/work a little. The prices are more...than reasonable.More
Here early on a Wed. evening. Tempura appetizer was very good. The two sushi rolls "Obama " and "Harvard" were bland and undistinguished. The room filled up as we ate with mostly Asian customers who seemed to be enjoying their meals. Service was pleasant and...attentive. We had a Groupon for the dinner. Otherwise I would say meal was somewhat overpriced. Maybe Harvard Sq. prices. Japonese beer selection reasonably priced.More
Good place for quick soup and sushi. The soup was average but the sushi was filling and satisfying. Definitely worth a try.
I had sushi roll for dinner. Since I sat at the sushi bar, so I decided not to order the raw fish as I don't think they were that fresh. Had the softshell crab roll. The rice was dry and fell apart from the roll,...you can guess the rest of the quality.... if they don't know how to cook the sushi rice well, what else can we expect.More
