If you are in Boston visiting or live around, this is a must try. Great authentic food specially their lamb dishes. On the favorite list.

Three of us went here for dinner. Two among us vegetarians. There are some good vegetarian options and all were tasty. I ordered chicken kebabs and were disappointed. Typical middle eastern kebabs are small pieces grilled over charcoal or gas to create a crispy outside with a moist inside. The way they made it here was large pieces with grill... More

Our son-in-law introduced us to this restaurant several years ago and we went back in a smaller group. The Aushak comes with only a little of the spicy mint sauce, and the pumpkin kallow is so sweet it seems more like a dessert-- no balancing spicy bite. But it is friendly, cozy, and the bread is made right before you--!i'm... More

In town with some colleagues, we stayed at the nearby Fairfield Inn & Suites Boston (very nice hotel, BTW). On our first night in town, we assembled in the lobby to figure out where to eat. We walked the few short blocks over to the CambridgeSide Galleria, where we realized we were faced with mainly chain restaurants. We all wanted... More

Went for my wife's birthday. Very friendly staff, attentive service. The food is a cross between Indian and Middle Eastern. Quite tasty and not too pricey. I shall return

I know very little about Afghan cuisine, but this restaurant serves food much more flavorful and interesting than I had imagined it would be. I go back to this place almost every year, never remember what I had the last time, but have always liked whatever I chose. And the restaurant has a good wine list. If you are staying... More

Four of us dined at the Helmand on a Thursday evening. We called ahead and were seated promptly upon arrival. A tray of various dipping sauces, including a raita-like yogurt dip and a red chili condiment, was offered along with focaccia-like bread. (This is an Afghani restaurant and I don't know the names of the dishes in Afghani.) Upon recommendation... More

My family and I visited this place purely due to good reviews on TripAdvisor. Fortunately, the reviews are all true. Really great service and both vegi and non-vegi food was very pleasing. I recommend asking for some plates and sharing the food if you are several people. It only makes the experience better.

Very nice place with tasteful decor and welcoming atmosphere. Service was impeccable and swift. The meals were outstanding: ravioli, aubergines and lamb as starters, all with Afghan flavours and mains with wonderful lamb dishes. Wine selection is ok, nothing memorable though. The Helmand is a special place to go for any venue to taste great Afghan cuisine, being refreshingly different... More

Perfect place to get together with friends for a nice meal, and something different. A lovely and gracious setting, with exotic decor, music, and food. Nice ambiance, and quiet enough to be able to enjoy conversation. The homemade flatbread is fantastic -- I'd buy up a bunch to bring home if I could.
